00:01The Attorney General's chambers has reminded former Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad

00:07that he attended the Federal Territories Pardons Board meeting that decided that Anwar Ibrahim

00:12should be granted a royal pardon. Mahathir had recently claimed that the royal pardon granted

00:18to Anwar in May 2018 was invalid as it was not discussed by the FTPB. In response, the AGC said

00:27the FTPB met at Istana Nagara on May 16, 2018, and the meeting was attended by Mahathir in

00:35his capacity as the Prime Minister at the time. The AGC also said any public statements that

00:42can mislead the people regarding the board's decision are wholly inappropriate. Anwar received

00:48a royal pardon a week after Pakatan Harapan won power in the 2018 general election. He

00:55was freed after serving three years of his five-year jail term on a sodomy conviction.
