The Cebu City Government forms an inter-agency task force to address the growing concern over mpox, with four suspected cases currently under investigation in the city. Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia signed an executive order on June 2 creating the 'Inter-Agency Task Force Against Mpox' for monitoring, prevention, and response efforts. The task force will be led by Mayor Garcia, with the City Health Department and Office of the City Administrator as vice and co-vice chairmen. It includes several local offices and national agencies like the Department of Health and Department of Education. The City Health Department and Cebu City Medical Center will oversee daily case monitoring and develop an emergency response plan. Meanwhile, the Department of Health Central Visayas confirmed six mpox cases in the region, including one fatality. The rest have recovered. Confirmed and suspected cases have been reported in Cebu City, Cebu Province, Mandaue, Talisay, and Lapu-Lapu. City officials urged the public to stay alert and follow health protocols.
