00:00At Telstra, we're dedicated to providing Australia's best mobile coverage.
00:05Our network covers around 99% of Aussies.
00:08That's pretty inclusive when it comes to where we live, but not necessarily where we travel.
00:13That's why we've been working with our partners to develop our satellite messaging service,
00:17providing text messaging capability in most outdoor areas that our mobile network doesn't reach.
00:23With this new service, when our mobile network is unavailable,
00:27compatible phones will automatically look to connect to an available satellite.
00:31When connected, text messages can be sent and received.
00:35You'll need a compatible phone, the latest software updates,
00:38and a Telstra plan with satellite messaging included.
00:41And you'll need to be outdoors, with a clear line of sight to the sky.
00:44Messages may take a few minutes to send and receive.
00:47You know, because they're travelling through space.
00:50Currently, this service supports text messages only, so no internet or calls yet,
00:55including calls to emergency services.
00:57Though we're working with partners to bring more capability in the future,
01:01but for now, we're giving text messages the STAR treatment.
