00:00The key points of the media briefing, which was, I think, a very good opportunity to be here in India and talk about it, was about competitiveness, right?
00:09So, and again, obviously, in the case of the European Union, especially, right, where the continents, you know, based on the drug reports, is looking to be a competitive force in the world.
00:22And there are key elements that to be able to bring back that competitiveness or increase it even if possible, right?
00:28One was, in my, what I mentioned, was the much-needed reform of the consumer rights regulation, the EU 261, right?
00:38And then the other was related to sustainability, which is one of them is the focus on the refuel EU regulation and how we bring the right reforms or adjustments that are needed to actually deliver on what it's aiming to deliver.
00:55The other one was the taxes.
00:57Obviously, we know Europe is a very expensive place to do business.
01:00Taxes are a big element to that, and therefore, Europeans need to actually look very carefully.
01:06There are some examples, Sweden being one of them, that already is reducing the taxes.
01:11And the fourth one was the efficiencies, the capacity of the ANSPs and the airports, right?
01:21Do they have the right capacity?
01:23Are they doing it at the right cost and, you know, and all of that?
01:27And obviously, we have seen that that's not the case in the European case, right?
01:32So, they are increasing cost and not increasing the capacity or they are not addressing the delays issues.
01:38So, again, mostly, again, what I meant by that is, you know, the constant regulatory framework in Europe is dragging European competitiveness.
01:49Sir, India is hosting IATA a meeting this time.
01:53First of all, how do you see it?
01:55And secondly, with Indian carriers expanding aggressively into Europe and European airlines, expanding Indian routes,
02:03how is IATA facilitating smoother collaboration and interoperability between the two regions?
02:10Well, I mean, first of all, it's fantastic that we are here in India.
02:13I mean, this is going to be a record event.
02:15I mean, we're going to have, I think, close to 1,700 people.
02:20So, everybody wants to come to India.
02:21That's good news, right?
02:23That first, I think, is really, really good.
02:25Very important that IATA is in a place where things are, you know, showing the value of aviation, right?
02:32The connectivity, right?
02:33Then you mentioned about the airlines from here.
02:37I mean, IATA has very strong members in India, right?
02:41I mean, India and Indigo, they are very strong members.
02:44And obviously, in all of them, I mean, we have over 350 members in the world.
02:49So, for us, it's very good that all our members are also coming here.
02:53And we support them in the many areas that we work together.
02:57So, again, bringing it to India has, it's very emblematic in the sense that the potential is there.
03:04I mean, and again, I believe that the connectivity is improving and it will continue to improve.
03:10But, you know, so I think it's all positive.
03:13Last to tomorrow, our Prime Minister, Mareem al-Modhi, will address a keynote address.
03:19Looking forward to that.
03:21And apart from that, how overall are you seeing India's aviation industry?
03:26Well, from the Prime Minister coming here, well, just by him coming here, it shows the support for aviation.
03:36I wish I could see something like that in Europe, right?
03:39I wish something like that where they are having that clear support for an industry that is strategically important to the economic growth of the nation.
03:47So, for me, that is the biggest take I can say.
