00:12Mark Hamill, who famously played Luke Skywalker in several Star Wars films, says he's not interested in filming for the franchise again.
00:20During a May 31st interview with Comic Book, Hamill referenced that Daisy Ridley is returning to play Rey Skywalker for an upcoming film titled New Jedi Order.
00:31As fans are aware, Rey was trained by Luke to hone in her Jedi skills in Star Wars, The Last Jedi, which premiered in 2017.
00:41Hamill told the publication that he thinks the Star Wars franchise should move on from Luke's story.
00:46I am so grateful to George Lucas for letting me be a part of that back in the day.
00:52The humble days when George called Star Wars the most expensive low-budget movie ever made, said Hamill during the interview.
01:00We never expected it to become a permanent franchise and a part of pop culture like that.
01:05But my deal is, I had my time.
01:07I'm appreciative of that, but I really think they should focus on the future and all the new characters.
01:13Hamill also noted that Luke died in The Last Jedi.
01:16While his character could come back as a Force ghost, Hamill said he'd rather not return as post-death Luke for a specific reason.
01:26And by the way, when I disappeared in The Last Jedi, I left my robes behind.
01:32And there's no way I'm going to appear as a naked Force ghost, joked Hamill.
01:36Hamill spoke about filming the first Star Wars film, which premiered in 1977,
01:42during a June 2023 interview with CBS Sunday Morning.
01:45He said he, the late Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia, and Harrison Ford, who played Han Solo,
01:53did not know how popular the franchise would become.
01:57We started the publicity tour.
01:59It was Carrie, Harrison, and me.
02:01And when we landed in Chicago, I looked out and I saw there were crowds outside.

02:06Hey, you guys, there must be somebody famous on this plane, said Hamill during the 2023 interview.
02:12We're looking around for some superstar athlete or something.
02:15The fans were dressed like us.
02:17There was no merchandising at the time.
02:20So they had made homemade lightsabers and all these things.
