On Saturday, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth held a multilateral meeting with his counterparts from Australia, Japan, and the Philippines in Singapore.

00:37A meeting we've been looking forward to from the beginning of this gathering.
00:40We've got a lot of friends and allies and partners here, but none closer than this group.
00:46Deputy Prime Minister Marles, Minister Nakatani, to convene my first, but not the first, trilateral
00:56defense ministers meeting.
00:59We've all met individually multiple times, got to know each other quite well, and this
01:03trilateral work is truly critical to deterring China and maintaining peace and strength in
01:09the Indo-Pacific.
01:11America's alliances with Japan and Australia are built on common values, common shared interests,
01:17and common sense.
01:19They enable us to train together and be ready to defend our shared interests throughout
01:24the region.
01:25And today, we are expanding substantially our trilateral work to address security threats
01:32to our countries.
