When the plants in Moominvalley starts to wither, Snufkin recognizes it as a sign that the Devil is coming to Moominvalley (Yes, you read that) Not long after, the valley is visited by the kindly old Doctor Gnos who Snufkin accuses of being the Devil.
Naturally, this gets Snufkin arrested because the people of Moominvalley are bunch of hypocrites who seem to hate him.
