00:00My name's Anna Baird, I'm the Unison Rep for East Renfrew Shire, Enable Scotland.
00:04We're in Brand Street outside Melissa House, the Enable Scotland offices.
00:09We're here because of the low pay.
00:1212.60 an hour is not acceptable anymore.
00:15We worked through Covid and we were seen as heroes.
00:18Now we're paid as zeros.
00:20The world clapped for us at nine o'clock one time.
00:22Nobody's clapping now.
00:24We are here also for the people we support.
00:26If we don't have carers or support workers coming into this job role because of the low pay,
00:31this affects the people we support.
00:33It affects their lives.
00:35The government has made broken promises, not acceptable.
00:40Two broken promises and we want to be heard.
00:42We're here to stand our ground and we're here to be heard.
00:45The picket line we're all feeling quite strongly.
00:47It was a big hard decision here for a day with heavy hearts because the job role we're in,
00:53we had to make sure our people were safe coming out and doing this.
00:57But once we've organised our people were safe, we're willing to come out and stand our ground.
01:02Everybody's here for the right reasons.
01:04We've got six days ahead going ahead with us.
01:06Next week, on the 6th of June, there's Aberdeen.
01:09Then there's other areas and then we're finishing on the 12th with Glasgow.
01:13And that is a walk and a march to Parliament House to be asking where's our money.
01:19Hear us, recognise us and respect us.
01:22Sometimes we do life-saving roles.
01:25We want to be heard and we want to be respected.
01:28Now, give us what you owe us, the promises you made, not us, you made.
