00:00We just got dropped off on this 2,000 year old ancient temple.
00:05Oh, we're so high up.
00:06We're surrounded by jungle.
00:07See you later.
00:09Let's go see what we can find.
00:10In this video, we're going to be exploring dozens of ancient temples,
00:14all of which hide ancient Mayan secrets from the world deep underground.
00:19Everything you guys are seeing now, the Mayans didn't want us to see.
00:22Nobody gets to go where we're going,
00:24including exploring one of the seven wonders of the world.
00:27But we only have 100 hours to make discoveries.
00:30Dude, I'm discovering these stairs are huge.
00:32Yeah, I want to find an escalator.
00:34Let's go discover the secrets of the Mayans.
00:36This is the door to the inside of this massive Mayan temple.
00:40Oh, that's a deep tunnel.
00:41Dibs, I'm going first.
00:42That's fine with me.
00:43There's boobie tops.
00:44This temple is over 2,000 years old.
00:48This is insane.
00:49We're inside an ancient temple right now.
00:51Where are we going?
00:52Oh, my gosh.
00:53Oh, wow.
00:54The first thing you see in this temple is this giant statue,
00:58which is supposedly the corn god inside of a jaguar's mouth.
01:01This is so beautiful.
01:02My gosh.
01:03I'm going to tell you what I think this means,
01:05and you tell me what it means, okay?
01:06This is a hand.
01:08This is a parade.
01:09That's a toilet.
01:12Wrong.
01:12No, that is not his toilet.
01:15That is his earring.
01:16Yeah, Jimmy.
01:17Oh.
01:17So here's the thing.
01:18This place is actually a pyramid built on top of a pyramid.
01:21So the deeper we go in, the older things get.
01:24Be careful, boys.
01:25This is so sketchy, Jimmy.
01:25I can't believe the government's letting us do this.
01:27It really is crazy.
01:28Not even archaeologists are allowed to go back here.
01:31How deep underground are we?
01:32And after navigating this ginormous ancient temple,
01:35we finally made it to the end.
01:38Now that we're at the end, you said you had a surprise.
01:40Yes, this has been found in the last few decades.
01:43Oh.
01:44Whoa, what?
01:45This is a funerary mask.
01:46This is the face of one of the kings of the snake kingdom.
01:49The Mayans use masks like this one
01:52to shield those that have passed away from dangers
01:54on their journey to the underworld.
01:56Can I hold it?
01:57Yes.
01:58Whoa.
01:58This was made over a thousand years ago.
02:00Yes.
02:01Which means my great-great-great-great-great-great-grandparents
02:04weren't even alive.
02:05Why is this not in a museum?
02:06Why is a YouTuber holding this?
02:07Get this away from me.
02:08Take it.
02:09Take it.
02:09Don't tell anybody.
02:11Okay.
02:11I totally won't show 200 million people.
02:13That's it for this temple,
02:15but we are in the middle of a giant city
02:17with multiple other ancient temples.
02:20And later in this video,
02:21even visiting the seventh wonder of the world.
02:24Let's find some treasure in this jungle
02:25full of monkeys, snakes,
02:28and people have even died to jaguars here.
02:30Well, we survived Snake Island.
02:31Wait, how are we...
02:32Is that a monkey?
02:34Sir?
02:36Sir?
02:36Sir?
02:37Sir?
02:37Well, guys, this is where we're going to be camping tonight.
02:46Oh, look at these hammocks.
02:47We still have over a dozen temples to explore.
02:49I need you guys to get some good sleep
02:50because this video is just getting started.
02:52Good morning, boys.
02:57Morning.
02:58First things first,
02:59we need to explore the rest of this massive abandoned city.
03:02And looking at it now,
03:03it's hard to imagine what it might have looked like.
03:05And so I'll just show you.
03:06Over 100,000 people used to live in this city.
03:10That's what that used to look like.
03:11This is what they think these roads look like.
03:13There were temples everywhere.
03:15It was flourishing.
03:16But on the inside,
03:18you'd witness magnificent artwork like this.
03:21Oh, my God.
03:21Big area.
03:22Whoa.
03:23This is incredible.
03:24One of my favorite part of these videos
03:25is when we take old paintings and bring them to life.
03:28So this is our best estimation of what they represent.
03:30Bro, this is so cool.
03:31This is a rare glimpse
03:32into what the life of a Mayan looked like 2,500 years ago.
03:36This is amazing.
03:36No one really thought that was a llama.
03:38Can we talk about this for real?
03:38You thought that was a llama?
03:39Because, look, I thought that was the eye,
03:41that was the mouth,
03:42and I thought that was the leg.
03:43Yeah, I thought you were smart.
03:45And after I picked on Nolan,
03:47Nolan returned the favor to Tariq with the spider.
03:50Tariq, don't move.
03:50Stop.
03:51Wait, wait, wait.
03:51Oh, wait, wait, wait.
03:54Tariq's going to quit.
03:55My friends have a strange way of having fun,
03:58but the Mayan way was arguably stranger.
04:00We're standing where a ball court used to exist
04:03over 2,000 years ago.
04:04This was the first ever team sport to use a ball.
04:07As far as we know.
04:08Also, the captain of the losing team's head got cut off.
04:11Yes.
04:16The Mayans are crazy, man.
04:18Whoa.
04:18This is huge.
04:19Yeah.
04:20So beautiful.
04:21Why don't we build temples like this today?
04:23Around 2,000 years ago,
04:25this is where the king and his queen lived,
04:27but 2,500 years ago,
04:29this is what it looked like.
04:31Massive crowds of people would gather here
04:33and even wait for hours
04:34just for a chance to see the king.
04:38And here it is today.
04:39Let's go check it out.
04:40Okay.
04:412,000 years ago,
04:42the king would probably stand here
04:44and watch sports from his palace.
04:46Kind of cool.
04:47Oh, my gosh.
04:48It's kind of like a labyrinth.
04:49Yes, because if you want to protect your king,
04:52you make it confusing.
04:53You make it confusing.
04:54Ernesto, be honest with you.
04:55Has anyone ever pressed this block in
04:57to see if it reveals hidden treasure?
04:59Mmm, I will not do it.
05:02Mmm.
05:03How about this one?
05:03Mmm.
05:04How about this one?
05:05You're telling me the king
05:06didn't build a hidden treasure room
05:082,600 years ago?
05:09Maybe, yes, but it's hidden.
05:11With the hopes of finding the king's treasure,
05:14we venture to a cave deep in the jungle
05:16where the treasure may lie.
05:17Hey, Jimmy did not say anything about bats, bro.
05:19Oh, my God.
05:20Joe, there's so many bats.
05:22It is flew right behind our heads.
05:23The Mayas, they used to think
05:24that this is the mouth of the monster of the Earth.
05:26Look above us right now.
05:28We're surrounded by bats.
05:29Thousands of bats swarming us.
05:31Dude, it's a bat tornado.
05:32If there is a Mayan treasure there,
05:33it's under tons of bat poop.
05:35Bat poop.
05:36I feel like I've already found my treasure.
05:37This is beautiful.
05:38We're going to leave.
05:38There's a lot of bats.
05:39I would prefer if you go faster.
05:41Oh, I got food on.
05:42Oh, my God.
05:45For me, this is a real treasure.
05:48Oh, my God.
05:49You got to get out of here.
05:51You got to get out of here.
05:53There's absolutely no treasure here.
05:54But there's still one more temple
05:56that might have treasure.
05:57And because it's already dark out...
05:58Boys, light your torches
06:00and let's go on an adventure.
06:01Our torches go out
06:03before we get to an ancient temple.
06:04I'm going to be very sad.
06:05Temple.
06:06Temple.
06:07Temple.
06:08This is so much cooler
06:09with just torches.
06:11Let's see what this bad boy looks like.
06:13I feel like an ancient adventure.
06:15But as it turns out...
06:16All right, it's a dead end.
06:17This didn't go well either.
06:18Everything's a dead end.
06:19Oh, my God.
06:21What was that?
06:22There's like a monkey up there.
06:23Is that a monkey or a jaguar?
06:25Why is this video becoming scary all of a sudden?
06:27Make sure you sleep well tonight
06:28because I have a big surprise for you in the morning.
06:30Let me guess.
06:31You guys thought the dozens of ancient temples
06:33in this city was the entire video.
06:35Yeah.
06:36Yeah, I think so.
06:36Send the helicopter back.
06:38Because to explore even further,
06:40we were going to need a lift.
06:41I'm climbing these stairs like a dog.
06:43We're almost there.
06:45Here's our ride.
06:47All right, we got to go.
06:48Let's go explore some more temples.
06:50And where we're going
06:52has some of the craziest ancient remains
06:54ever built by mankind.
06:56And to kick off this location,
06:58we're going to visit this bad boy,
07:00which the Mayans used to call
07:01the gateway to the underworld.
07:03Back in the day,
07:04there used to be giant fangs here.
07:05What happened to them?
07:07They fell off.
07:08Seems logical.
07:09Let's go explore.
07:10Whoa.
07:11This is awesome.
07:12There's some very special features that I love,
07:14like that structure and the beetle.
07:16Wow.
07:16I'm going to guess this building was the temple.
07:18Was it for sacrifices?
07:19Yes, you guessed it.
07:20Yes!
07:21I got something right!
07:22What a nerd.
07:23I lost his hat.
07:24But what our guide really wanted to show us
07:26was a cave which Mayans believed humans emerged from.
07:29The Maya believed that humanity came from a cave.
07:32Deep inside of there is what they call the tree of life.
07:35And they believe that all of us spawned
07:36from this very majestic, beautiful tree deep in this cave.
07:39It's so sacred that we're going to do a ceremony
07:41to ask for permission to the spirits of the cave.
07:43If I was a betting man,
07:44I'd say the spirits are going to reject Nolan.
07:46And as we entered the cave...
07:48Whoa.
07:49Okay.
07:50This definitely looks sacred.
07:52We were met with the ritual our guide spoke of.
07:54What is he doing now?
07:55He's purifying the entrance of the cave.
07:58And it's here where we would seek the approval of the gods.
08:01Naturally, I wasn't worried at all.
08:03But we're the gods really about to let Nolan
08:05enter this sacred place.
08:06I hope they accept me.
08:13I think it's good.
08:14Oh.
08:15What's he doing?
08:18Is he good?
08:21Come on.
08:22The spirits didn't reject him.
08:23Thank goodness.
08:24So, with the gods officially on our side,
08:26we started our journey for the tree of life.
08:28But the deeper into the cave we went,
08:30the hotter it got.
08:31Is it just me,
08:31or is it only getting hotter in this cave?
08:33It's getting hotter,
08:34and the air is going to be more difficult to breathe.
08:36More difficult to breathe, yeah.
08:37It'll be so high right now.
08:38The deeper you go in the cave,
08:39the thinner the air gets.
08:40I don't know if you can see the sweat.
08:42It's really hot here.
08:43This cave just keeps on going.
08:45But at least there's no bats.
08:46Everything you guys are seeing now,
08:47the Mayans didn't want us to see.
08:49They literally tried sealing this off.
08:51Imagine being a Maya 2,000 years ago.
08:53See this beautiful cave,
08:54and all of a sudden,
08:55see this beautiful room.
08:57Whoa.
08:57And the amazing tree.
08:59Oh.
08:59Am I the only one that thought
09:01the tree of life was an actual tree?
09:03Yes, this is it.
09:04This is the sacred ceiba that holds the sky.
09:06Are these pots around it
09:07the same pots the Mayans created?
09:09Yes, sir.
09:10So the tall ones,
09:11they put incense,
09:12and they burn it
09:13to get the attention of the gods.
09:14This is very cool.
09:16If you were a Mayan thousands of years ago
09:18and actually believed
09:19that this is where humans came from,
09:20I understand why they thought this was so sacred.
09:23Of course, of course.
09:24But this cave is about to get really dangerous,
09:26because where we're going next,
09:28we will literally need an oxygen tank to breathe.
09:31Why do I keep doing things in videos
09:32that could kill me?
09:36It is so sacred.
09:39So after a few deep breaths
09:41to top off on oxygen,
09:43how deep are we going?
09:44About two football fields.
09:45Yo, I'm going to stay up here.
09:47You're always backing out on it.
09:48He said there was no oxygen.
09:49I don't want to hear it.
09:50And Nolan may have been onto something
09:51because at the literal first thing
09:53our guide wanted to show us,
09:55Oh.
09:55Whoa.
09:55I'm dizzy.
09:57Are you good?
09:58No, I'm good.
09:58I'm good.
09:59Whether you like it or not,
10:00you're going to get some oxygen.
10:01Breathe.
10:03Anyways, what were you saying?
10:04Well, there's some ceramic pot shards.
10:07Whoa.
10:07This is so cool.
10:09Can I take one home?
10:10Well, I do.
10:11We'll go to jail.
10:12I would go to jail?
10:13Yeah, sure.
10:13All right.
10:14I won't take one home.
10:15Dude, I can't believe
10:17they actually believe me.
10:18They're so cold.
10:20They're so cold.
10:21How the boy didn't scare them.
10:22Look at all the bats in this tunnel.
10:25Let's continue.
10:26Wait, I actually, unironically,
10:27I don't know,
10:28do bats bite humans?
10:29I found a hiding spot.
10:31Oh, there's a bat.
10:32Jimmy, get you a hit of this oxygen.
10:34So we're only getting deeper.
10:35Here, get you some.
10:36Air is getting thicker.
10:37But as we got closer to the end,
10:39we were confronted
10:40by the final boss
10:41of this secret tunnel.
10:42See those, uh,
10:44the stalactites?
10:45Oh, wait.
10:46To me, behind you
10:46is the biggest spider in the world.
10:48Oh, my God.
10:49What did the Mayans
10:50give the insects down here?
10:51Why do you think
10:52the world's largest spider
10:53is at the end of a secret tunnel
10:55in the most sacred place
10:56of the Mayans?
10:57It's protecting something.
10:58What do you think?
10:58I think so.
10:59So instead of fighting
11:01the final boss,
11:03we let the secret tunnel
11:04keep its secrets.
11:06Oh, my gosh.
11:08That was terrifying.
11:09I almost threw the oxygen tank
11:10right at your face.
11:11And after escaping
11:12with our lives,
11:13we were exhausted.
11:14So we headed to our new camp
11:15to turn in.
11:16Because not only
11:17were we going to need our energy
11:18for the seventh wonder
11:19of the world,
11:20but for day four,
11:21I wanted to know
11:22what the Mayans did for fun.
11:23Starting with
11:24the first ever team-based game
11:25to use a ball.
11:27Over 3,000 years ago,
11:28the Mayans invented
11:29the game of pits,
11:30where you score
11:31by shooting a ball
11:32through a small hoop,
11:33kind of like basketball,
11:34only you can't use your hands
11:35or your feet.
11:36But remember what we said
11:37all the way back
11:38in day two.
11:39The losing captain's head
11:41would get cut off.
11:42The head?
11:45This is hard.
11:49I'd say we're going to get
11:50the hang of it.
11:51And although we started
11:51to get a handle on the ball,
11:53it's safe to say
11:54we were still far from scoring.
11:56So I even brought in
11:57our camera guys
11:58to help out.
11:59But even then,
11:59failure after failure
12:01only brought us
12:02countless more failures.
12:07We might not ever score.
12:09But in ancient times,
12:10giving up meant
12:11literally losing your head.
12:13Nolan, you better stand up, bro.
12:14And so failure
12:15after failure
12:16continued until...
12:18And after a long day
12:28of this brutal sport,
12:29the surviving players
12:30might have celebrated
12:31by heading down a sinkhole
12:32for a relaxing dip
12:33in the natural pools.
12:34And while I'm not
12:35cutting any heads off,
12:36Nolan did lose at Pips.
12:40Is the water cold?
12:41You know,
12:41it's kind of refreshing.
12:42Oh, is it?
12:43Yeah.
12:44Go for it.
12:45This water feels amazing.
12:50It doesn't look like
12:51you think it feels amazing.
12:52Oh, it's so cold.
12:53And although a swim
12:53in the cenote
12:54is refreshing,
12:55the craziest Mayan temple,
12:57a literal seventh wonder
12:58of the world
12:59is still to come.
13:00But first,
13:01a classic Mayan dinner.
13:04So everything you're seeing here
13:05is what the Mayans
13:06used to eat
13:06over a thousand years ago.
13:08As you've heard
13:08throughout this video,
13:09they worship the corn god.
13:11And if you don't know,
13:12corn is a main ingredient
13:13in tortillas.
13:14Whoever's editing
13:15this,
13:15did the Mayans
13:16invent tacos?
13:17Yes or no?
13:18To our final night,
13:19cheers.
13:20Enjoy the Mayan tacos.
13:22And to wrap up the night,
13:24we have a special
13:25Mayan dessert,
13:26the brand new
13:26Feastables peanut butter cups.
13:28Wait,
13:29brand new,
13:29but it's a Mayan dessert?
13:30Don't ask questions.
13:31It's dessert.
13:32Here you go.
13:32The king of marketing
13:33over here.
13:33Oh, look at how much
13:34peanut butter is in there.
13:35Isn't it sad
13:36that there are humans
13:36on this earth
13:37whose taste buds
13:38have not been blessed
13:39with the brand new
13:40Feastables peanut butter cups?
13:42So if you want
13:42an ethically sourced,
13:43amazing tasting snack,
13:45make sure you reach
13:45for Feastables.
13:46It's good.
13:47The only Mayan-approved
13:48snack on the planet.
13:49Before I go to sleep,
13:50I want to let you guys know
13:51that I'm giving away
13:52$500,000
13:53to 10 random people
13:55that subscribe to the channel.
13:56No joke,
13:56my birthday is coming up
13:57and to celebrate

14:02Thanks to Jack Links,
14:03the best beef jerky,
14:04for providing me
14:05with this awesome birthday present.
14:06And I'll see you guys
14:07at the seventh wonder
14:07of the world.
14:09And with the last
14:10remaining hours
14:10of our trip here,
14:11it's the moment
14:12you've all been waiting for.
14:14The seventh wonder
14:15of the world,
14:16the Temple of Kukul Khan.
14:18Oh, this is so cool.
14:20I can't believe
14:21we're actually here.
14:22Kukul Khan is one
14:23of the seven wonders
14:24of the world,
14:25partially for its grand size,
14:26but weirdly enough,
14:27also for the way it sounds.
14:29The Mayans
14:29somehow constructed this
14:31in a way
14:31where if you clap
14:32in front of it,
14:33you hear what sounds
14:35like a laser
14:35coming back at you.
14:36All right, anyways,
14:40what we actually
14:41came here for.
14:42At the top of this pyramid
14:43is a temple
14:44so sacred to the locals
14:45that no one
14:46is allowed up there,
14:47which begs the question
14:49of what Mayan secrets
14:50lay in that ancient room.
14:52Out of respect
14:52for the culture
14:53and all the people
14:54who hold this very sacred,
14:55we are not going
14:56to touch the temple.
14:57Instead,
14:58we're going to fly
14:58this drone up
14:59to see what's
15:00in that secret room.
15:01You cool with this?
15:02Yeah, this cool.
15:04Godspeed.
15:06Oh my gosh,
15:07this looks so majestic.
15:09I'm dying to know.
15:10All right,
15:10let's see what's
15:10in this room.
15:13Wait.
15:14Arthur,
15:15the room's empty.
15:16Well,
15:17500 years ago,
15:19the Spanish came here
15:20and they take
15:21a lot of the stuff inside.
15:23But before everything
15:23was sadly stolen,
15:25this is what historians
15:26believe the seventh wonder
15:27of the world looked like.
15:29I'm not going to lie,
15:30it's actually very beautiful.
15:32And while we didn't
15:32find any gold,
15:33I'm grateful that
15:34I could even visit
15:35these ancient monuments
15:36and share it with you guys.
15:37Thank you so much.
