00:00Congratulations on this film. You and Ralph Macchio are bringing two Karate Kid worlds together.
00:05What was it like teaming up with him and some of those first days like on set?
00:08Ralph, you know when I was young I watched Karate Kid 1 and at that time I just said,
00:15why Ralph, not me? I can't do it.
00:18And a couple years later then Will Smith called me, called me,
00:24Jackie, I want to reshoot Karate Kid. I said, good, but the problem is I'm not young anymore.
00:30He said, no, you're not the kid. You're the Miyake. I said, oh, okay.
00:35Then I realized, oh, I'm not young anymore.
00:38You are young at heart.
00:40Then I'm thank you. And that time is the good timing. I want to change.
00:45I want the audience to know I'm not the action star. I want to be an actor who can fight.
00:51So this is why I get involved in Karate Kid.
00:55Then later on I'm involved like a foreigner. I act an old man.
00:59And later on I spent like almost 10 years to change audience's mind.
01:05Oh, Jackie, not the action star. Jackie can act.
01:09I want to be an actor who can fight.
01:11Just like Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman, Stallone.
01:14Yes. Well, you said you plan on doing your own stunts until you retire, which is never.
01:19How do you prepare for stunts these days?
01:23I've been having a very good foundation training.
01:25You're talking about flip over, kicking and punch.
01:28For me, easy. I've been training all my life.
01:31Of course, I cannot jump from the tree anymore, over the car.
01:35Whatever I can do, I do it myself.
01:37Like when I was young, I can do a triple, triple kick, double, double kick.
01:40But now I do one kick, I do one kick.
01:42I think the audience, they just don't, we want to see Jackie do the real things.
01:47They don't want Jackie wearing the mask, to jump around and come back, take off the mask.
01:51Oh, there's Jackie, that's a double.
01:53Oh, there's a cartoon, that's special effect.
01:56Poor me.
01:57I want director to invite me to be a Batman or Superman.
02:02Yeah.
02:03Yeah, but.
02:03But you are, you can be the actor.
02:05No, all the directors hire me just to do the real things.
02:09Oh my gosh, I love that.
02:10And finally, the people want to know, when are we getting a rush hour for?
02:15Ask the studio, ask the director, ask the writer.
02:19I've been waiting.
02:20Otherwise, Chris and me, 100 years old.
02:23Thanks for listening.
