Home Secretary Yvette Cooper praises first responders for their efforts after a car rammed into pedestrians at a Liverpool FC victory parade on Monday. Cooper says, "we need to say huge thanks to all those who responded... who did the most professional job". The 53-year-old man thought to be the driver has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving, dangerous driving and attempted murder.

00:47ambulance is this a policing and local authorities failure do you think how is
00:51a car able to enter what was meant to be a pedestrianized safe zone well I've
00:56spoken to many of the police the ambulance service the fire service and
01:01local authority who were involved in responding yesterday to the most
01:05horrific incident it came after this day of celebration and joy in the city and
01:10the professionalism of their response the way in which they worked together to
01:15make sure that lives were saved and to be able to keep people safe I think was
01:20it's hugely important and we really thank them for that the investigation of
01:24course is ongoing into what happened and we need to let that police investigation
01:29take its course and they have my full support in that
