00:20I like it. So that's gonna be stitched down. I just haven't done any major stitching yet
00:24I want to do a bulletproof vest a bulletproof. What a butt your opinion
00:30The winning look elevated male peacocking to a whole new level the winner is Rami
00:40Ross your design was too reserved
00:43Raji your color story and fabric choice were confusing Raji. You are out
00:54Fashion designer Christian Siriano
00:56Journalist Elaine Welter on fashion designer Brandon Maxwell and editor-in-chief of Elle magazine
01:02Nina Garcia are looking for America's next great fashion designer at stake for the winner a quarter of a million dollars
01:10supplied by pilot friction erasable pens a
01:13Feature in Elle magazine and a career-changing mentorship with the Council of fashion designers of America
01:20This is project runway all-stars
01:26And
01:30Then there were four
01:35Like I'm waiting for somebody else, this is really awesome
01:38on my season 17, I made it to the final four and
01:44unfortunately, I was
01:46Kicked off fish me. I'm sorry. That means you are out
01:50I've always dreamed of what my collection will look like if I was to make it to the finale
01:56Oh
01:58From Christian serial now what you got? No, he said good morning designers
02:02Just one challenge to go before the finale time for a field trip
02:07Meet me at summit one Vanderbilt and prepare to extend the horizon of your imagination. Let's go
02:13I'm ready going on an adventure
02:18What's this
02:20Oh, wow
02:23Building it's beautiful. I think we're going up. Let's just be surprised. I don't know. We're going to the future
02:45No
02:47Way, we walk into this ginormous open space
02:51The floor feels like it's literally mirrored because as I'm looking below I'm seeing the ceiling
02:56But it gives one the illusion that we're standing on glass
03:01Look at this
03:04Don't even look real
03:05Does it feel like you're flying just see the whole city from this angle. I feel my body trembling
03:11I'm not a big fan of very high heights
03:14What is the challenge?
03:16Is this one Christian comes in?
03:18What Christian just come from the bottom like
03:21He floats. Hi designers. Oh, I'm over here. I
03:27See like 50 of you. No, he's over there to see this is so disorienting
03:32over here
03:37Welcome to summit one Vanderbilt. It's an immersive design
03:42Installation by artist Kenzo digital it adds a whole new dimension of the stunning New York City skyline
03:50Every step of the room brings a new perspective. It makes you question reflection
03:56versus reality
03:59You guys ready to find out what stands between you and the finale, of course
04:03Yeah
04:04The challenge that will decide who makes a collection for New York Fashion Week
04:09who has a chance of winning the grand prize a
04:14quarter of a million dollars supplied by pilot friction erasable pens a feature in Elle magazine a
04:21career changing mentorship with the CFDA also six months of PR representation from agentry PR
04:28Oh, yeah, Coco Chanel once said fashion is architecture
04:32Both create a shelter for people in different forms and both have a similar goal
04:38creating beauty your challenge is to be inspired by their architectural masterpiece around you and
04:46create an
04:47Avant-garde look worthy of the finale. Yes
04:52During my original season I got to the avant-garde challenge and just could not bring it home got cut the episode before the finale
05:00Avant-garde is so so incredibly subjective. I mean essentially avant-garde is a way of
05:07Provoking thought and fashion and that's my goal. I've had a lot of time to think about it. Okay. I'm excited for this
05:14Mm-hmm. La Ron's. What do you think? I love architecture. That's actually one of my number one inspiration great place to be then
05:20Yes, and designers. This is a two-day challenge
05:23You're gonna have 40 minutes now to sketch
05:25Roam throughout the exhibit
05:27So you guys could be inspired by things in this room things outside of the room the views I left your sketch pads and model
05:35Cards in the next room over. I'll meet you at mood when you're done
05:41What mirror should I check
05:46Amazing
05:48Oh, there it is
05:53I find myself
05:55Landing in the balloon room everywhere. You look you see a different angle of yourself where you see a different
06:02Perspective so I plan on designing a avant-garde cocktail dress with this huge round
06:10Belt as well as an avant-garde head to represent the reflection of this room
06:16The
06:18buildings that are below me actually start big and
06:22Get smaller down towards the ground. These skewed proportions are really inspiring me
06:27So I really want to sketch something that has like proportions that go from really big to small and vice versa
06:34I gotta make up for last week. I was on the bottom to me
06:37It's a confused businessman who moonlights that like an S&M bar
06:42F that now I got I got a double it up. I'm taking in the beautiful space
06:46We're in and there's one building in particular that catches my eye
06:50The side of it looked like you know, if you had ice cream and you took a scoop out of it
06:54I think it's interesting. I'm sketching this dress
06:57With the hips out the waist is very small and then you have a jacket on top
07:02It's super risky too because this is the last four and I'm going to attempt to make this
07:08Crazy piece that I don't know if I can make avant-garde really is about creating
07:14Cutting-edge look it strays away from like the wearability of things as much as it leans into the imagination of things
07:21I'm thinking about doing
07:23Contrasting colors to reflect the way the sunlight is hitting the building texture that emulates the clouds
07:31I'm thinking in an architectural way a garment that redefines the shape of the body
07:38Hey, look, I think I see mood. Do you want to go and get our power? Yeah, can we jump from here?
07:48Beating it's on sale
07:51Beating
07:53Avant-garde, this is a big one. So just take a risk. Yeah 30 minutes to shop
07:59$700 make every second count and every cent count. Good luck go. Thank you 30 minutes
08:06Feathers
08:08This is my avant-garde look four yards of this, please. I'm looking to use these fabrics to express sculpture
08:15I'm grabbing like a satin. So it has a little bit of a shine from you have nothing in your bag
08:19I do they're cutting it. Is that black vinyl yours? I guess silver silver and black. It looks shiny
08:26What's it gonna be dress like a gown? No. No just a short dress
08:32avant-garde enough
08:34I
08:36Get four yards of that I find this vinyl that is a deep purplish blue that has a
08:43Reflection to it. I like this. I was thinking about if it was at night. That's cool
08:48Vinyl is very stiff. And what vinyl loves to do is create structure this being heavenly inspired by the summit building
08:56I want to make sure that I'm incorporating and using a fabric that showcases structure
09:04Somebody needs to get crazy with this. I want something insane
09:09Brittany, what are you getting?
09:12It's like reflective. I'm gonna do like this body suit into these like oversized sleeve puffer thing
09:17It's like the windows that I was seeing outside. Very cool
09:25Two minutes designers two minutes yet to be in line. What do we have?
09:30698 97
09:32Thank you. Thank you. All right. See you guys tomorrow for a walkthrough. Awesome. Thanks
09:38Have fun avant-garde architecture make it fabulous make it fab
09:44Coming up. She's got little cuffs in the middle. So she's got little baby dino hands
09:49What it's really risky
09:51I'm a little nervous
09:59What a day we were on top of the world and now we're back at this place
10:03Thank you. Thank you. Welcome. What's this bikes feel like heavier and heavier?
10:13I didn't see anything
10:15Everybody can feel the pressure because this is not just making it to the next challenge
10:20This is making it to the finale. So I have to push myself for this avant-garde challenge
10:25Oh
10:27Yeah, you know you always as good as your last design
10:30So I gotta make a piece that is going to surpass
10:34Any pieces that I put on the runway so far as there are less of us here every challenge becomes more difficult
10:40Everyone here is worthy of the finale. My inspiration is cement and sort of like metallics
10:47I wanted to create architectural themes through the gown that make it feel like an actual structure itself
10:53I'm trying to get some basis started. Yeah, I can have stuff
10:56I know that I want to make a bustier top and a belt that has the
11:02Exaggerated detail in the back. I'm making a big-ass balloon. I
11:06Want for her to be able to walk without having to hold it
11:09So I'm creating this wired cage to support the structure. Are you afraid of heights?
11:16No, no when I was at summit
11:19I'm literally seeing 91 floors beneath me this challenge for me in a way. It's about facing any kind of fear
11:26I feel like that head that you have on top of your mannequin needs a name a hedgerow
11:34And then we have another one
11:36It's gonna come down there
11:38When I was a young child, I wanted to be an architect, but I should became a hustle
11:44I was just like, okay
11:45Well, let me just go to fashion school and I think that's probably why I like lines and contouring in my designs
11:52Hey guys. Yeah, we got who no mass hour. That's it. That's it
11:58the new Bishma Karmady hill
12:01Coming to a store near you
12:04So much paper just a simple sleeve for one. That's a sleeve pattern. Yeah. Wow. I'm gonna do it. Hey, I
12:11feel you I
12:13Love making hats. I think it's gonna be my signature
12:19Okay, let's go to the lounge
12:32Anyone do avant-garde and their practice at all
12:36For me I want God is like taking me from like 20 20 years back like when he was cool for me
12:42I think of things on the hanger. I think of how well it's gonna sell
12:45And very rarely do I think in like an artistic way like a conceptual way in other challenges
12:50I feel like I'm so married to the design and if it changes I get a little panicky
12:54Where's this one if it changes it's like, okay, let me it's part of the process
12:57Yeah, and I don't I don't get so worked up about it. I want mine to look like it's like
13:03Made from like recycled fabrics in a sense. Like I wanted that kind of feeling to it
13:07I wanted I exposed all the seams. I want to do more like frayed edges
13:12Frayed frayed
13:17Whatever
13:29I'm gonna pass by your office. Yeah, my office is a mess
13:34All right, miss me. What is you working with my working on this morning this morning?
13:40I am working on seeing if I can add any more shape to my skirt and then I'm gonna figure out how I can
13:46Attach this balloon. Oh, you have an actual balloon. Well, that circles my fake balloon. You're so cute
13:56Good morning designer
14:01Yesterday was epic, right?
14:04Was
14:05Guys, today's our last walk through before the finale. Are you happy? Are you sad? I am sad actually
14:12I mean, I'm happy to be done
14:15Sad I'm gonna miss you guys
14:19Christian
14:20But we're gonna power through and it's gonna be fabulous. Let me just see what's going on in this room. Hi, mr.
14:26Serrano happening
14:29This is it, yeah, this is the one this is the one
14:34avant-garde avant-garde
14:36Architecture when we went to the summit place
14:38I love how when you were in there everywhere you look you saw like the reflection and then also I love the balloon
14:45Yeah, I was trying to imagine what it would look like at night. So this is my interpretation
14:50Um, are you putting this wire in here?
14:54Yeah, cuz I wanted to be really round when she walks and structure the baseball hat again interesting
15:00I think that's my signature. What if the brim was a little more?
15:06Avant-garde like like could it be a more paneled shape?
15:10What if she wears it in a different way?
15:12Like it covers her face and then you create an opening for the eye or something got you. That could be cool
15:18I see what you and that's avant-garde not costume got you. Yeah, get this wire in there
15:23You're gonna help me stuff it. Goodbye
15:26Brittany, hey Christian
15:28You know what? I was thinking about this morning. This is our 24th walkthrough together 24th walkthrough. Yeah, really all challenges Wow
15:37But no finale yet. No finale. You're really really want it. Yeah, you have to have it. I want it
15:44I
15:48Know but what is this turning into now? Okay, so I wanted to do like this essentially like a puffer
15:55It's big wrestling and only leave a little bit of the bottom open. What if you did showcase?
16:01This waist the waist. Yeah the shape and it was more cropped and
16:05Maybe up here is even more voluminous or these are super big and bubbly and then it gets more clean up here. Yeah
16:13Christian is saying all the things that are in the back of my mind that I know
16:18Are correct. Good luck. Thank you. Work really hard. Yes
16:22Bye
16:26Laurence Lee we're here
16:29You have a sketch. Look at this. What even is this?
16:34So I'm basically making an architectural
16:37dress and this is kind of like
16:40innovative and
16:42forward-thinking because
16:44The technical part of it is technical a little crazy. It is crazy
16:47Yeah, but I do think you could push this a little bit more. I think you need one
16:53Surprising element because that's what you're so good at. Yeah, you know, so I love the shape
16:58Hopefully I get this done in the next two two hours three hours and then I could go crazy on the top
17:02Good luck. You have a lot to do. Oh gosh. Oh
17:06Oh
17:08Rami how you feeling? You had a major win. I honestly felt really happy that night because it's not something that I expected
17:15You know, I reach like a new potential for myself in a sense. So that felt really good. Yeah, and
17:20Here I am working on this elongated shaped dress and it's going to be on this side here
17:27So there's so it's shape on one side
17:30And then it's gonna be fitted and it's gonna flare out at the bottom
17:34So the skirt will have some transparency in it and then I wanted to have the strips going through it
17:40What a
17:42lot of things
17:43Maybe it's just some other
17:45Silhouette. Okay, it's really risky. I
17:49Don't know. I'm a little nervous
18:00All right designers models will be here in two and a half hours, thanks
18:10Okay, yeah, it's just a lot of figuring out you okay that's okay as I can be
18:18I'm actually using Christian suggestion to use the hat in a different way
18:23So I'm putting a hat backwards, but leaving like one of her eyes out
18:29Growing up wearing a hat backwards could mean that you're affiliated with something now that I don't live in those places anymore
18:35It's my way of giving an old or not my people
18:42That's what she was dancing that was dancing. Mm-hmm. Not yet
18:56Alright excited for a fitting. Yes. Yes
18:59Let's get him in here
19:04I'm gonna try to think of artistic way that it like going ahead on your head a little bit. I'll probably make it shorter. No
19:13Okay, Brittany, that's the longest sleeve I ever did see how's she getting around?
19:18She's got little cuffs a little so she's got a little baby dino hands coming out
19:24Okay, that's off on guard I guess
19:27Hey, that's the point
19:29Was me the under the under piece. Okay, hear me out
19:33What if I just like did everything in this and I did like a bralette with like the skirt and the harness thing
19:38Is it like a puffer miniskirt?
19:41You gotta yeah
19:45You gotta play around
19:48It's gonna need something no, it's a lot of things
19:51I just need the base cuz I can't really do anything and then I'm drama. Yeah, give it some drama
20:00Rami yep
20:01What is this? This is fanning out and coming in and this is fanning out and coming in like it's love all these panels
20:09It looks like a hodgepodge. It needs more boning and then it's gonna be penned
20:15I hope she can see
20:18And she wants a tight you love this link I don't see everything together. Oh you do in a fitting
20:24That's what the fitting for
20:27All right designers five minutes left. All right
20:31I'm just so it on so I don't know if we have time if I get you padding. It's okay
20:37The skirt is partly in muslin
20:39You can't see every single piece on the model
20:41But you do what you can with the fitting and with the time given and now I need to focus on the skirt and
20:47Keep cutting it. All right designers. That's it. That's time. Say goodbye to your models. Bye my loves
20:54Get some sleep it's gonna be a big show
20:57Alright designers the next few hours are some of the most important in the competition. Yeah, I really believe in you guys
21:05You're so talented and it's gonna be a fabulous show. Yeah
21:09Oh, bye
21:14It adds a little bit of psychological pressure
21:16But I think that I will still stay focused and I will still finish the look and I will continue
21:21Refining the concept making a few edits without sacrificing division
21:33Hey guys, let's head home
21:37Oh
21:47Hi, good morning, you know, very cheerful today. Well, thank you mind if I sit here, please
21:56How's it going just going I'm gonna go ahead and apologize in advance because of how my nerves are gonna be so shot
22:04Whenever you are experiencing fear, it's not always a negative thing. Sometimes it's actually you're about to
22:10Step into like a new level of growth in a sense. I feel like sometimes feeling those feelings are probably a good sign. Yeah
22:18People don't realize like this is hard so hard. They should change my whole yeah
22:24But the best thing that happened after that is how many people you was able to inspire? Oh, yeah one time I went to
22:32a
22:34Children's hospital where this kid
22:36Had cancer. She was literally like in a hospital bed with all IVs in there and all she wanted was like a
22:44Talk with me. Yeah
22:47she passed but
22:48We had that moment together and it meant so much to her
22:51So that really like makes me a little emotional because it's it's that special to some people
22:56You guys have to think about coming back. Yeah, I didn't want to come cuz I just didn't I didn't know how my grieving
23:02Process is gonna got in the house
23:04So I have to wake up and remind myself that my sister is like physically not here and that once this is over
23:12I can't even show her how
23:14Amazing this experience has been. Thank you. Y'all should be very proud. Oh, yeah. Yeah
23:21Yeah, let's go actually do it
23:25We got some work to do oh
23:28My god, okay, I got this you guys yeah, we got this
23:32Thank you. Nothing. We haven't done before. All right. Yeah. No, look at this
23:37This is amazing. You guys are pretty amazing
23:39You're amazing. I'm so impressed with you guys
23:44So, where are we?
23:46Hi everybody
23:47Hello Christian. Hi Christian. How's it going? It's going going. Are you ready? Yeah
23:54All right, I'm gonna walk around and see what's happening in here
23:58Interesting things I'm doing a fitting with Brittany's coat you want you know, I would like to try this on please
24:09Okay, oh my god, it's so heavy don't be dramatic yeah breeze I was kind of
24:18Kind of look like a worm. I love it. It's hot get it off me. Yo, I'm
24:27Oh
24:32It's here one panel one panel, yeah, you got it to stand up and everything
24:37Yes, I put wire in there. Mm-hmm, and I actually minimize the shape so it has the same wire in there
24:42Mm-hmm, it's like a little more simplified. Yeah, but it still has the volume. It's just I took out the wool cool
24:48I can't wait to see it on
24:50Interesting
24:56But it snaps in there that goes on top. Yes, the shoulders fabulous. Thank you
25:03All right designers. Are you ready for your models? Yes. Let's get them in here
25:13How's it going
25:14I'm gonna be a little quick because I have a lot of sewing to do
25:17I know I have to add something else to make sure this stays up here. We just make sure it's on
25:24Like that, okay, so I'm gonna read cut this waistband, but a half an inch it's gonna be filled here
25:32Thank you me too actually, all right designers when you're ready take your models to the makeup studio and the tresemme hair salon
25:41My piece is a lot of angles. Uh-huh
25:44Square lines, so I like actually that she has a Bob someone. Yeah, I think that would be nice
25:49We can use a tresemme prone fusion smooth tonic. It's a great foundational product to help me moisturize your hair
25:56I kind of want it to be kind of like twisted around
26:01One of the key products I'm gonna use to achieve this look is a tresemme extra hold gel
26:06It leaves your hair looking sleek. It has less alcohol, so it won't dry your hair out
26:12Designers ten minutes. We're leaving this room. It's your last runway
26:17Make sure it's perfect
26:19If you can hold her you are a snatched girl
26:24So you took my advice on that hat didn't you?
26:28You talk a lot, but I listen can you turn around? I mean it's a little bat girl for me
26:34Trust me. Oh, this is iconic
26:37Rons, how's it going? It's going you did the snaps. Oh, yeah. Yeah, okay good
26:43Brittany
26:44You sure you're not gonna see it a boob slip because this whole thing cinches
26:48Cuz I see boob right now hot. I think that little like hint of butter moves not is it cool
26:53I mean, I know you're not I like boobs. Excuse me
26:59Yeah, all right designers, that's it that's time
27:03Let's get to the runway
27:05last look
27:07All right, five minutes last look right you totally got it get a little bit more on the cheeks
27:12I got an underboob situation. This is our last runway before the finale and I am praying to the gods
27:18That this iridescent fabric shows on the runway. All right designers. That's it. That's time. Take your seats
27:25Avant-garde. Oh, it's gonna be a fabulous show
27:34Oh
27:39Designers what a sight to see our top four all-stars
27:46Congratulations
27:48Yeah
27:50You earned the right to be here and we could not be happier for all of you tonight. We decide who moves on to the finale
27:58we brought in two guest judges to help us make this incredibly important and
28:04incredibly stressful decision
28:06Please meet the CEO of the CFDA and our good friend Stephen Colt
28:15The CFDA mentorship is a big thing around here. So just so you know Stephen you're pretty much a celebrity
28:21I'm excited to be back and meet the four
28:24I think I remember some of you from the past and look forward to whoever wins getting mentored by the CFDA
28:30Mentorship from the CFDA. I know it's destined for me. This is wicked CFD is my sister's initials
28:37Shamir Faye Ditley
28:40Also joining us is the most powerful stylist in the business
28:45Simply put he transforms celebrities into fashion icons. Yeah
28:50He was also recently awarded the stylist of the year the first time ever from the CFDA image architect
28:58La Roche
29:02La Roche dresses some of the biggest names we're talking Zendaya
29:07Kerry Washington
29:08You name it. He has a lot of insight and he knows fashion. I am so excited to be here
29:14I'm like Stephen. This is my first time being a guest judge and what took you so long
29:21Designers there is a lot on the line tonight. We can't wait to see your
29:26Interpretations of avant-garde, let's start the show
29:44Avant-garde is literally what I do in my sleep. I
29:48Constructed avant-garde look and I showcase and use my architectural skills
29:57This is a whole innovative look and I hope that the judges can see that
30:08I think this message sends to the other designers that I am that quiet confident lion. Just don't freaking mess with him
30:16Very interesting her but no, yeah
30:27I
30:28Think that she exudes the avant-garde feeling the elements from the hair the makeup the dramatic collar
30:35The shape of the skirt, but I do think that the fabric especially the satin one is a little bit soft
30:47The evolution tour is not illusioning but do I think that the architecture of the look is there and it's clear absolutely
30:56This is an avant-garde. Look it has the architectural element
31:08Yeah
31:10I
31:20Am living this reveal is everything the fit is perfect, but this being fabric is
31:28Not reflecting and it looks like I just bought a piece of gray fabric and made a puffer coat out of it
31:41I actually feel like I really embraced the perspective of the architecture
32:03So Mimi is looking beautiful
32:05Everything fits. I love it. I don't go could be a lot of things
32:11But I was able to figure out how to make this complicated outfit that I designed
32:21It's a whole look there's nothing simple about what I just created
32:25I think this book represents who I am as a designer and what I'm capable of doing. It feels like a great accomplishment
32:40Wow designers
32:42That was really impressive. This is gonna be hard
32:46Luckily, we have more judges than we have designers. Oh
32:49My god, hopefully we will get the job done. But this truly each of you should feel so incredibly proud of yourselves
32:57I think this is gonna be the hardest season for me to really decide who should go forward. You all did amazing
33:04Designers, can you all please step up to the runway?
33:06We've scored your designs
33:09Three of you will be moving on to the finale a project runway season 20 and
33:17One of you will be out
33:27Three of you will be going on to
33:29The finale the final runway. We're gonna tell you a little bit about the final runway
33:34The finale the final runway, we're gonna talk to all of you tonight
33:38Rami we're gonna start with you. Let's get your model out here
33:46How was your trip to the summit I once was gonna have a runway show there
33:49But it was too high for me and when I got halfway up the elevator, we had to go back downstairs
33:53So, how was it? I'm not used to high very high heights. So that was definitely the experience
33:59I noticed a lot of interesting buildings
34:01But one in particular stood out that one had contrasting sort of like seams and lines. I wanted to
34:07Kind of almost like redefine the form through the shapes of the skirt
34:12I did like three dimensional type of drapings through the seams that wrap around the body
34:18Talk to me about the fabric choice. Is it a duchess and like an illusion tool?
34:21It's a silk a tool and a wool and silk blend fabric
34:25I could tell immediately that the structure was
34:30Trying to mimic the glass and the metal talk to me a little bit about the hood. So the tool
34:37Almost resembles the clouds in a sense. So I ruched it
34:42Through the neckline over the shiny satin part. There are certain details that are not
34:49the usual perfection that you
34:53Deliver
34:54Understand I do like the cutouts and I do like the way that the mesh on it
34:59It's so transparent that it just looks like you're seeing right through her skin
35:01I couldn't use that on the red carpet because you know
35:04As soon as they hit social media people gonna zoom in and say what's going on here?
35:08It's just not gonna look flawless as I like my work to be. Okay. Thank you
35:13Appreciate it Steven. I think it's a very tall
35:16Strong look it feels a little bit raw, but overall thought you did a great job. Thank you
35:24I want to commend you on the idea of creating sort of 3d drapery
35:29I think that that's a that's a cool concept, but I think the fabric choice
35:33Distracts from your vision. Some of you know, my work is tends to be more fluid. I know that this was a sort of a harder
35:42Texturally kind of challenge and it was architecture
35:44But if I were to show my work in a collection, it would be fluid fabrics that you know
35:50Just exude emotion one of the asks that we've had for you
35:53Is that you push yourself and I really do want to commend you for having done that because I think this was an uncomfortable
35:59Place for you to be in and while it's not being received overly positively as a designer
36:05You have to take that in and have solace and understand and know that at least you pushed yourself
36:11I appreciate you recognizing that so thank you. Thank you so much Rami. Lucy could leave the runway
36:17Fish me your next let's get your model out here
36:22All right, so tell us about your look tell us about your inspiration I'm really big on reflection
36:27So when we visited the summit on the 91st floor, I immediately loved the balloon room
36:32I also was wondering what it would look like to see the water at night
36:37Reflecting the buildings. What is holding the disc together made a peace sign out of wire
36:42And so that once she has it on it can hold it and balance it. I'm
36:47Obsessed with this hat. I think you taking that and making it fashion is beautiful. Thank you. So beautiful. Thank you
36:54Outside of the hat. I don't I don't think that it feels so new. I've seen 100%
36:59Yeah, so there is a lot of mixtures of things we've seen before but I think it was it was really a great look
37:05Fish me the color choice was really what I
37:10Loved the most it is purple, but it could be black. It feels
37:16Liquid, but it's hard. It's
37:18Extremely editorial you always deliver that. Thank you so much. I'm curious about this shoot
37:24Is it a real show or is it just like a like a cover on a ship?
37:28I just think that's so clever in a way to kind of you know, bring the look together
37:33That's a red carpet. Look for sure. I
37:36Struggled a bit with the fact that it was so referential what saved it though was the hat had the hat not been there
37:45I think we would be for me personally in a different place. Thank you so much fish me Jessica. You can leave the runway
37:53Ladies first. All right, Brittany. Let's get your model out here
37:58Brittany tell us about your look your trip to the summit the summit honestly was so
38:03Surreal, so I wanted to use kind of like a reflective fabric
38:08Which in the workroom the whole thing from head to toe is like rainbow every color. I wanted to
38:14Play with like working from bigger volume to smaller volume whether it's like cinching in
38:20So you went home on the avant-garde challenge on your season, right? I did
38:24I
38:25Think it's really cool
38:26I think this would be really great on an album cover and people will want to be photographed in it
38:32But I think when it comes to what the challenge was
38:36It's a mess for me
38:38Steven it's cozy. It has proportion. Maybe it's avant-garde with the crazy sleeves
38:44But I do agree. It's a miss challenge with not really seeing the architectural influence there
38:51There's so much that you did so right here, this is
38:56Avant-garde meets active wear. Yes, like I want to be that girl, you know, and there and that you don't always get that with avant-garde
39:02Brittany I could tell more or less what everybody was inspired by except for you and I'm disappointed I
39:11Think you are a lover of fashion. I think you're a lover of their current fashion
39:14I think that that's something that does inspire you. I think you fall back on that
39:18Sometimes I think that you really if you were to move forward have to free yourself of that
39:24Thank you, Brittany. She may you can leave the runway
39:27All right
39:29Lawrence, let's bring your model out
39:35Tell us about your trip to the summit tell us how it was what inspired you it was beautiful
39:39I mean it got us when I mean I got me when I was just in the elevators. Tell us about the construction
39:44I'm guessing it's
39:46Leather not all of it is final to tell us now. We're interested to know this is vinyl. This is leather
39:52This is a mix of the two. This is vinyl and this is leather. I think it's great
39:56The top is like the ultimate avant-garde biker jacket buildings are mixture of materials and in
40:03Different elements you did a great job. Thank you. I feel like this is Laurence 2.0
40:08I love it. I don't think I've ever seen you smile so much on the runway
40:12Makes me very happy to see to be inspired by architecture
40:16I think you nailed that if this became something that one of my clients would want to wear on a
40:20Specific carpet or an issue if we lost the shoulder. This would be a really pretty dress. You can remove the shoulders actually
40:26They can remove. Oh, let's see. Let's see without it
40:30That's great
40:32Thank you. Thank you very much. You really delivered and I think you were very smart to use
40:38Everything that you're good at. All right. Thank you Laurence. You're welcome. Thank you Mimi. You can leave the runway. Thank you
40:45Thank you so much for tonight as you know, we need to talk. We will call you back when we're ready. Thank you
40:50Thank you. Congratulations
40:54Good work
40:56Only three of these designers can move on to make a collection in the finale
41:00So let's talk about who we think we should put forward
41:03I think Bish me is look and body of work has earned him a spot in the finale
41:07I think Bish me understood the assignment and hit a home run
41:12It was polished and it was runway or red carpet ready for sure. So I think he did an amazing job
41:18I thought it was a beautiful dress to be able to get those stitches in that type of fabric
41:24Really shows that he's a technician and that needs to be celebrated
41:29When I look at Bish me's work for better for worse, he really always does
41:34Address the challenge. I'm really happy that he's arrived to this point while also playing by the rules and that really excites me
41:41I mean, yes, he gives us referential like he did today with
41:45Mugler, but he's commercial yet. He is original and I think he deserves to move on. I
41:52Also think that Laurence
41:55Deserves to stay in this competition the precision of her work is undeniable
42:00I will say tonight there was something slightly costumey about what she gave us
42:06But I did like that there was a versatility to the look her look was one of my favorite looks you can tell there's this
42:12Internal like passion and commitment to the craft of designing buildings are about shape
42:17She had the rectangle the triangle the circle I agree that Laurence is
42:24Extremely talented. I just want her to have a little more fun a little more freedom and be less measured
42:31She's so like but I think it's important to let your clothes do the talking and that leaves
42:37Brittany and Rami vying for the final spot Brittany gave us a fully
42:43Finished look that was successful. Yeah, that was a good jacket
42:48And that was a cute look but in the last few she has been extremely
42:53Referential and for me that is a problem. I agree and you want to protect
42:59Originality and you want people to be inspired by whatever they're they're living or seeing Rami had major construction issues
43:07Which was sad because he is so poetic and he kept talking about the scenes
43:12I was just like stop Santa because that is the most devastating part of the whole garment. I think that their
43:18Job is to show us an undeniable
43:21Look that's gonna inspire us and Rami's look just fell short compared to all of his other competitors
43:27But he went out on a limb to give you something that was out of his comfort zone. Why don't we here for?
43:34but if not to see
43:37original
43:38designs they're both actually
43:40Incredible at what they do for their respective fields
43:43When you say I'm gonna do what I'm good at and I think it was a great car who's going to deliver the best
43:49Runway that could get them to win
43:53Okay, so, you know our final three. Yeah
43:58Yeah
44:01You
44:06Designers you should know that we truly believe in each and every one of you and
44:13We can't wait to see what your future holds, but in the end only three of you can move on to the finale
44:26Fish me
44:28Congratulations, you are the winner of this challenge
44:34Thank you
44:35Thank you so much. How's it feel bitch me? It feels great, but I'm just ready to make this collection. So
44:42Thank you
44:44Ideas never dry out like I'm constantly
44:48Creating and thinking of new things bitch me
44:50We thought beyond being the best of the night you really as Steven put it so eloquently understood the assignment
44:57and I think that you have pretty
45:00consistently across all the challenges really understood the assignment and found a way to put your spin and your aesthetic on each one of the
45:07Challenges and so I think that's really what set you apart tonight. Thank you, Brandon. There's two more spots in the finale
45:17Laurence
45:19Yes
45:21You are also in thank you. How does it feel feels super dope? I can't wait to create freely
45:30Rami and Brittany
45:33One of you will be able to make your dream collection and one of you
45:38Unfortunately will be out you both
45:41Truly are all-stars
45:43Thank you
45:45But we've made our decision
45:50Brittany
45:57You are in
46:03You will be showing your collection in the finale
46:08This is so emotional Rami
46:11Unfortunately, I'm so sorry, but you are out. Thank you so much for the opportunity
46:16It's been a pleasure working with you all
46:19Rami I'm sad to see you go
46:22We know no matter where you go
46:25There's gonna be beautiful work. Thank you so much
46:27I'm proud of everything that I have done here even during my lowest points. I feel like I have still challenged myself
46:34Congratulations to all of you. It's been a long journey. It's been a lot of hard work
46:39It's been a lot of hard work
46:41Nobody wants to be in a position where they're about to be handed something
46:45Which is the opportunity of going to Fashion Week and then it being slipped away from you
46:51Thank you so much appreciate it I've set an intention to challenge myself creatively technically Rami
47:00Hi, I have no regrets. I think you are incredible. Look you have some amazing moments this season you push yourself
47:07I feel proud of everything that I've done. I wouldn't change anything. Honestly in any other way, so I feel good about it
47:12Okay, okay. Thank you Christian. Love you, too. Good luck with everything. Talk to you soon. Yes. Okay. Bye. Bye. I
47:22Have had the honor to compete and to befriend and to become intimate with a lot of these people and learn about their stories
47:28And their backgrounds. It's an honor. That's it. That's what I'm gonna say
47:33That's it next on Project Runway all-stars final three
47:40Welcome to the Project Runway season 20 finale
47:44It's the finale. We're doing it. Is it fun? Oh
47:48My goodness a seven. I'm starting to feel the nerve
47:52This is overwhelming
47:55Can we give it up for our guest judges?
47:57That pose is Billy Porter the winner of Project Runway is
