00:00When you think of explosive batting in cricket, A.B. De Villiers is a name that shines bright,
00:05but now there is a new name joining that elite list. Matthew Ford of the West Indies
00:10In a thrilling match against Ireland during the second ODA in Dublin,
00:14Matthew Ford did something truly remarkable. He smashed a half century in just 16 balls,
00:20equaling the world record set by A.B. De Villiers back in 2015.
00:24Matthew Ford came to the crease when West Indies were already in a strong position.
00:29At 246.5 in 43.1 overs, thanks to the catchy Carty brilliant century.
00:36But what Matthew Ford did next was breathtaking. He hit a six on just his second ball,
00:41and then went on a rampage, hammering four sixes in a single over from Josh Little.
00:46At one point he was on 42 from just 13 balls, and looked like he might even break A.B. De Villiers record.
00:54Although he missed a ramp shot on the next delivery from Barry McCarthy, he did not slow down.
00:59He came back with two huge sixes over long off and cover, tying the record off instead of breaking it.
01:05Matthew Ford ended his innings on 58 runs from just 19 balls, hitting two fours and eight massive sixes.
01:12An amazing 96.05% of his runs came from boundaries, which is now the highest percentage of boundary runs
01:20in any 50-plus score in men's ODI history. This broke the previous record held by Andre Felcher,
01:2696.15% from 2009.
01:30Not only was this a powerful knock, but it was also smart and fearless. In the 46th hour,
01:36he showed finances by scooping a four and six off Thomas Mayes, proving he is more than just a big hitter.
01:42Thanks to Matthew Ford's explosive camo, the West Indies shot past the 300-run mark in the 47th hour,
01:48eventually finishing at 352 for eight. His performance turned a solid total into a towering
01:54one and gave the fans a thrilling end to the innings. Matthew Ford's innings will be remembered
01:59for a long time. Equalling a record set by one of the greatest ODI bestmen of all time is no small feat.
02:06It's clear that this young cricketer has a bright future ahead of him. You know records are mean to
02:11be broken, or in Matthew Ford's case, matched in style. Could he be the West Indies' next big thing
02:17in limiteds over cricket? Only time will tell. But one thing is certain that this was a performance for
02:23the history books.
