The first WI vs AUS 2025 Test began on June 25, with Australia batting first after Pat Cummins won the toss. Shamar Joseph rattled Australia's top order, claiming three wickets in no time, after which opener Usman Khawaja and Travis Head holed the visitors out of a ditch, scoring 47 and 59, respectively. Jayden Seales claimed his first wicket of the innings, removing Josh Inglis, and then proceeded to wreak havoc on the lower-middle order, claiming his third Test five-wicket haul, as West Indies restricted Australia to 180. In reply, the Windies started poorly, losing openers to Mitchel Starc before Keacy Carty and Brandon King stitched a small stand. Captain Pat Cummins removed Carty for 20, and Josh Hazlewood got rid of vice-captain Jomel Warrican as West Indies finished Day 1 on 57 for 4, trailing by 123 runs.
