00:00The Source magazine wrote a, I believe it was the Source, wrote an article that that revolution commercial that I did for Gatorade,
00:08it said one of the most revolutionary artists or rappers that have ever came out, his most revolutionary piece came from a Gatorade commercial.
00:18So the freedom that I ended up being able to get because of a mentor like Jimmy Smith, who at the time was at Chiat Day,
00:24I'll never forget this, you're going to laugh at this, we walked into a meeting with some PepsiCo higher ups.
00:31I remember the story.
00:32And Jimmy Smith said, this guy knows what he's doing, leave him alone.
00:36Because they get rap and they don't want to tell us what to do with rap and we're supposed to be the geniuses in it.
00:41So Jimmy Smith walked out of the meeting with me and said, come on David Banner.
00:44We walked out, the door closed and he looked directly at me and said, you better know what you're doing.
00:49And I had never done a commercial in my life before.
00:52And by the grace of the most high, I guess I did know what I was doing.
