00:00My name is Councillor Rude Shah and I'm the leader of Oldham Council.
00:04Oldham isn't just like any other place. Oldham is a place with heart, it's a place with history
00:10and it's a place with huge potential. People have been telling me for so long that they want to see
00:15real change and I couldn't agree more. That change is coming and this is change that you can see in
00:21and that you can believe in. Together with our fantastic partners at Mews we're delivering one
00:27of the most ambitious town centre regeneration programmes anywhere in the country. It's not
00:32just about bricks and mortar, it's about creating a town centre that works for local people somewhere
00:38we're all proud to call our own. We're bringing life back into the town centre with up to 2,000
00:44quality homes, a modern flexible new spindles development with a brand new market, brand new
00:50event spaces, co-working hubs and a reimagined town square that puts people at the centre of it all.
00:55This is about building a town that works for you. With more than 800 new jobs created,
01:02new businesses, more green space and better opportunities right on our doorstep. And we're
01:07not going to stop just there. From a new 8,000 square metre park to the creative quarter and the
01:12£70 million transformation of Boundary Park, we're building the kind of place that brings people back to
01:17Waldoom, where they want to live, where they will work, invest and enjoy their lives. We're investing in
01:24clean energy, in our local talent, in education, in culture and in our heritage because we know that
01:31when Oldham thrives, our people thrive. This isn't just about regeneration, it's renewal, but it's
01:38renewal with a purpose. It's your town centre brought back to life with a future that's greener,
01:43fairer and full of opportunity. Oldham is changing and I couldn't be prouder to continue leading us
01:50into this next chapter, but let's build it together.
