00:00Can you spot every twisted intricacy of Death's design?
00:03I saw what Death was about to do.
00:06Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're joining visionary apprentice Stephanie
00:09to study the world of Final Destination Bloodlines.
00:13Her grandmother Iris taught us how to look for clues.
00:15When the universe speaks, pay attention.
00:18So we're counting down 10 surprise Easter eggs buried in the hit movie.
00:22Plus, we'll recap Tony Todd's powerful scene and major updates to the franchise lore.
00:27The rules have changed.
00:31Number 10. License Plates
00:32Flight 180 references have popped up in every single Final Destination installment.
00:38So hopefully you had your eyes peeled for another nod to the doomed flight from the first movie.
00:42The blink-and-you'll-miss-it moments are where these sort of visual details tend to hide.
00:46So, when Paul drives Iris up to the Skyview Tower at the beginning of the film,
00:50you only have about five seconds to read his license plate.
00:55FL818E
00:55The technical significance of this number has never been verified.
00:59Though that 8 resembles an hourglass, while the 1 and 0 could represent the two binary outcomes of life and death.
01:06We say that the hour of death cannot be forecast.
01:10Never occurs to us that it has any connection with the day already begun.
01:15Or that death could arrive this same afternoon.
01:20Nevertheless, this isn't the only Bloodlines license plate to call back to the first film.
01:24Stephanie's car has the exact same tag number as Carter's Chevy Nova SS.
01:28Oh, looks like we have a bit of a reunion here.
01:32Number 9.
01:33Something River Hospital
01:34Iris' frantic scrawlings lead the Bloodlines family to seek out a JB,
01:39as this character has information about cheating death that can save them.
01:43We might have a chance.
01:44Darlene recalls hearing about him before, as well as the hospital he works at.
01:48She begins to think out loud in an attempt to jog her memory.
01:52Something River Hospital.
01:54Deep River?
01:55Peace River?
01:56Charlie cuts her off midway through her final guess.
01:59Clear River.
02:00While this wasn't the actual name of the hospital Bloodworth is lurking at,
02:04it is essentially the name of a major protagonist from the first two films.
02:08Clear Rivers.
02:09Don't come any closer.
02:10And it's clear the franchise is fond of her,
02:13because this isn't the first time her name has popped up in a sequel.
02:20Hunt, listen to me, buddy.
02:22Listen.
02:22No water, okay?
02:23Stay away from water.
02:28Number 8.
02:29The Woodchipper
02:30This hidden detail will only be remembered by the superfans.
02:33And those of you who watched our last video on the franchise's timeline.
02:37The fate of Kimberly Corman, the second film's protagonist,
02:40has always haunted viewers.
02:42In a universe where almost every character dies,
02:45she and Thomas Burke are still standing before the credits roll.
02:48Oh, hey, careful.
02:49Those things are dangerous.
02:50Trust me, I think I've been through a closer call.
02:53Previously, the only mention of their outcome happened in Final Destination 3's
02:57Choose Your Fate DVD feature,
02:59where a newspaper article acknowledges that they had an unfortunate run-in with a woodchipper.
03:04And a woodchipper does appear in Bloodlines,
03:06in the form of a sketch Iris left in her death book.
03:09More on the book later.
03:10Though this gruesome fate was never really canon,
03:13since it's not a part of the theatrical releases,
03:15Kimberly's true whereabouts are finally uncovered by virtue of...
03:19Number 7.
03:20Tony Todd
03:21Bloodworth affirms that Kimberly is indeed still alive,
03:25since she momentarily flatlined before being brought back to life.
03:28Come on.
03:29Ready?
03:30Clear!
03:30She's back!
03:34Apart from the option of taking someone's life to extend your own...
03:37If you take a life, you get the time that person had left.
03:41What?
03:41No.
03:42This is the only tried-and-true method of surviving the franchise.
03:46To truly break the cycle, you have to die.
03:49It's also revealed that Bloodworth's life was spared as a child,
03:53thanks to Iris' vision back in the 60s.
03:55Everyone needs to get off the dance floor!
03:57He tells Stephanie that because he befriended Iris later in life,
04:00he came to learn many of her theories,
04:02and picked up on patterns in the universe's cruel games.
04:05I know who's gonna make it, who's not gonna make it.
04:07Bloodworth has always been interested in...
04:09The reason why we're repeating this cycle,
04:12will it ever be escaped?
04:13We shall see.
04:14Then, he breaks the fourth wall.
04:17In the real world, actor Tony Todd died of cancer in 2024.
04:21In Bloodlines, his character is sick too,
04:23admitting he has no option to run this time.
04:26By fusing his real terminal diagnosis with his character's mortality,
04:30Todd delivers an incredibly poignant message about the finality of life.
04:34Bloodworth says that he's retiring from his harbinger role,
04:37and intends to enjoy the rest of his time left,
04:40leaving us with the final words...
04:42Good luck.
04:43Number 6. Protagonist Link
04:45Speaking of Kimberly,
04:47her drowning in Final Destination 2
04:49is effectively mirrored in the climax of Bloodlines.
04:52Stephanie finds herself trapped underwater in a flipped RV,
04:55and similarly drowns.
04:57Though it's later confirmed by Dr. Reddick,
04:59named after the first film's screenwriter,
05:01that her heart never technically stopped like Kimberly's did.
05:04This isn't the only big connection between Stephanie
05:06and other former protagonists.
05:08There's one commonality that threads nearly every vision sequence together,
05:12intended to signify that we're stuck in a time loop.
05:15It's the finger gag.
05:16Ow. Damn it.
05:20In Bloodlines, Iris pricks her finger on a rose just before the Skyview disaster.
05:25Later, Stephanie pricks her finger on Charlie's corsage,
05:28moments before a train derailment.
05:30Number 5. Bobby's Undoing
05:32All Bobby wanted was to be the best father he could be to Paco the Turtle.
05:37Early in the film,
05:38he wears a graphic tee depicting a bunny hopping on a pogo stick.
05:41What propels a pogo stick?
05:43Springs.
05:44To hammer this home,
05:46he's seen wearing said shirt while also jumping on a trampoline at the barbecue.
05:50What gives a trampoline its bounce?
05:52Springs.
05:53And what ultimately takes Bobby out?
05:55You're starting to see the signs in Death's sick design, aren't you?
06:02Number 4. Distracted Driving
06:04Music plays a big part in the Final Destination universe,
06:07with troubling lyrics often signifying that caution should be heeded.
06:11At the beginning of Bloodlines,
06:18Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash blasts on the radio as Paul and Iris roll up to the Skyview,
06:23which soon literally implodes into a Ring of Fire.
06:31So, when we later hear Kelly Clarkson's
06:33What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger
06:35playing through the headphones of a garbage truck driver,
06:37we know someone's about to die.
06:39And that someone is Julia,
06:40who's inadvertently found herself stuck in the back of his compactor.
06:46The driver is oblivious to her frantic relatives,
06:49who are trying to get his attention while he speeds down the road.
06:53That's because he's thumbing through the fictional dating app Crusher.
06:56And Crusher he does.
06:57Heist Pale Ale must be amazing beer because characters have been spotted enjoying it in practically every Final Destination film.
07:08The delivery truck passes Kimberly on the highway in Final Destination 2.
07:11The same truck pins Wendy and Kevin's car against a wall in Final Destination 3.
07:23Hey, that guy's way too close to my truck.
07:27Hey, you're too f***ing close, man! Pull up!
07:29Hey!
07:29It even plays a part in Carter's death in The Final Destination.
07:34I can't be afraid, but I can't be afraid.
07:39Later appearing again on a fridge.
07:41The bubbly beverage is consumed as a celebratory drink in Final Destination 5.
07:46Who wants one?
07:47Then appears at a bar during the final scene.
07:50So it's no surprise that Bloodlines features the iconic ale as well.
07:54Drinks! Drinks all around!
07:55Once again, a misplaced bottle factors into the chain of events that lead to Howard's death by Lawn Mower.
08:04Sorry!
08:08Ironically, he's even seen wearing the brand's logo on an undershirt earlier in the movie.
08:13When it comes to heist Pale Ale, this beer sort of makes you not want to crack open a cold one.
08:23Writers of the first Final Destination paid homage to icons of horror by giving its characters the last names of major horror directors, actors, and producers.
08:34For instance, Alex Browning is named after Freaks and Dracula filmmaker Todd Browning.
08:39Terry Chaney is named after Lon Chaney, a famed actor known for his ghastly makeup and performances.
08:45Bloodlines follows a family with the last name Campbell.
08:48One can only assume this is a clear nod to Bruce Campbell, star of the Evil Dead franchise,
08:54and even Neve Campbell, final girl of Scream.

09:18Number 1. Logs
09:19Remember Iris' creepy journal?
09:22As characters pour over the pages, we're treated to a drawing of the dreaded log truck.
09:27This staple of the franchise has terrified fans since the pileup in the second film.
09:31You need to stop that truck!
09:33I told you again, you have to calm down.
09:35Why won't you listen to me?
09:40So, since Bloodlines is a long-anticipated return to the nostalgic series,
09:44the logs just had to make an appearance.
09:46The book has a ton of meta-renderings of other devices used to dispatch former characters,
09:51like jagged fences and grills.
09:53Also in the book are sketches of a rake and saw,
09:56which factor into both Howard's and Julia's deaths later on.
09:59This book, it will show you everything you need to know to keep our family safe.
10:04Beyond the pages, reminders of the log truck are relentless.
10:08While pulling out of the hospital, Darlene nearly T-bones a speeding log truck.
10:12Watch out!
10:13Later, just when it looks like Stephanie and Charlie have cheated death,
10:23a derailed train unloads the logs it was carrying as cargo,
10:27splattering them both in the process.
10:29He's a relentless son of a bitch.
10:31Death is coming for our family.
