Beijing Threatens Legal Action Over Huawei Sanctions Enforcement

U.S.-China tech tensions reignited Wednesday as Beijing warned it may pursue legal action against any entity enforcing U.S. restrictions on Huawei Technologies’ chips. According to Bloomberg, China’s Commerce Ministry said assisting Washington’s curbs could breach its Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law. The U.S. initially warned that global use of Huawei semiconductors would breach export controls, but China argued such actions by the Trump administration undermined recent Geneva trade talks. Beijing is attempting to maintain dialogue with the U.S. despite ongoing disputes over tech restrictions, critical minerals, and tensions related to fentanyl. Analysts suggest tech restrictions may eventually be addressed in broader trade negotiations.
