00:00Congratulations to Tottenham Hotspur, the 2025 Europa League finals, final score 1-0 against Manchester United.
00:08The 17-year wait for silverware in North London for Spurs comes to an end.
00:13Of course, we'll talk about Manchester United and what this means for them going forward in just a moment.
00:18I've been in the studio watching the game with Roy Keane, Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards.
00:23Roy, of course, a lot of people want your thoughts on your former club Manchester United,
00:28but did the better team win to you?
00:30Yeah, I think so. I think we worried this after the second half, they shut up shop very early
00:34and obviously it was going to be defensive, but they defended really well, unlike Spurs, shall we say.
00:40United lack re-quality. I mean, United are dependent on Harry Maguire to get you out of jail at the end of the game.
00:45It sums up their problem. And I think the goal summed up the game.
00:48Re-lack of quality, poor decision-making from United at the end.
00:52But what a great night for Spurs, considering the season had, the pressure they were under, the manager.
00:58You look at the celebrations there. Well done to Spurs.
01:00Yeah, and well done to Andrzej Pustekoglu. We spoke about his many quotes, Jamie.
01:06The fact that he said he always wins in his second season.
01:09He was really going up against the media yesterday, saying he's no clown.
01:12He's definitely put that to bed now, hasn't he?
01:14Oh, he's not a clown. He's not a clown.
01:17Listen, he's a very quotable manager. He's on the front foot in press conferences.
01:22A lot of the time this season, that's come back to haunt him in so many ways.
01:25But that quote now will be remembered forever, because he does always win in his second season.
01:31He's shut us all up. He's proven us all wrong.
01:34Speak for yourself.
01:37But yeah, he remembered more for that quote than actually the trophy that he's won.
01:43Because that's something that's sort of been used to beat him all season.
01:46Because no one could see Tottenham winning anything.
01:48They re-won the re-won, losing 21, I think, league games in the Premier League this season.
01:53I mean, Roy's right. I mean, in terms of the stand, it was actually exciting because it was that bad.
02:00There was almost anxiety to it. You know, everyone was giving the ball away.
02:03I mean, it was a shocking game.
02:05But anybody who wins a cup final, a supporter, a player, coaching staff,
02:11no one cares how you play. No one's going to look at the stats or look at the game.
02:15It's all about winning. And that was absolutely massive for them.
02:18Look at the pictures, though.
02:19Absolutely brilliant.
02:20Tottenham fans. It's absolutely brilliant.
02:22Don't forget, there's no Madison, no Kunasewski as well.
02:25I think it showed in the game.
02:26Jamie summed it up perfectly. The game wasn't great.
02:29But it doesn't matter. Who remembers what the game's like?
02:32People remember who wins and sometimes who loses.
02:35I mean, it's just a great moment for them.
02:38Because imagine the pressure coming into this game for both clubs as well.
02:41Hans put pressure on himself, but he delivered.
02:44And that's all you can do. And I'm delighted for him.
02:46Because in his first season, I thought he did really well. He was playing really good football.
02:49This season, they've been short of where they need to be.
02:53But to go away with the Europa League trophy, they deserved it on the night.
02:58Yeah, and he's delivered the first European trophy to Tottenham Hotspur in 41 years.
03:04But let's talk about Ange Postacoglu,
03:05because many felt that today was going to be his penultimate game.
03:09Do you think, based on this result, based on what he's delivered to the club,
03:13he should stay on?
03:16I'm not sure what he wants to do. I think it's a chance for him to reflect.
03:18Is the ball in his court, then?
03:20Yeah, well, I think so, yeah.
03:21But obviously, the club made a decision before this because the league form has been so bad.
03:25We can't forget that.
03:26Obviously, they can enjoy it tonight.
03:27But when you reflect on the season, it hasn't been good enough.
03:30But it's a nice problem now for the club to have, because they're in the Champions League.
03:34You'd like to think the club will want him to stay on and give him a chance to impress again next year.
03:38A big financial window coming up.
03:40They'll have financial backing, of course, because of the rewards that come with winning tonight.
03:44And yeah, I hope he stays on.
03:48Can I just ask you from a manager's point of view now?
03:50And he said he hoped he stays on.
03:53So, does he deserve to get what he wants in the transfer market now?
03:56I know they've had a lot of injuries this season.
03:58Has he taken the club forward?
04:01Well, when you look at the fans' reaction there tonight in the win,
04:05I don't see a good question.
04:07In terms of cup football and European football, yeah, it's fantastic.
04:11But they certainly can't be happy with the league campaign.
04:13It's where he's got the confidence from the owner.
04:15We don't know what the atmosphere is like at the training ground.
04:17Is it good or bad?
04:18But they've shown tonight they were fighting for the manager.
04:21No-one would have thought for one second they'd keep a clean sheet tonight.
04:23But obviously, that goes on to United as well. United's lack of quality.
04:27But as I said, I hope he stays on.
04:28He's been there, what, two seasons? He's had a very good first season.
04:31The second one was difficult.
04:32Give the man a chance. Why not?
04:34Let's not forget, the opposition last season wanted to sack the manager
04:39and won an FA Cup final against Manchester City.
04:42Great sort of scenes.
04:43They beat Man City, the biggest rivals,
04:45and they put their owners in a position where they felt they couldn't then
04:47because of almost the supporters.
04:49You look at the supporters here tonight as well, with Ange Postacoglou.
04:52It definitely makes it more difficult.
04:54But what you don't want to do is lose a manager in the first few months of a season.
04:58And he's bought a lot of players.
04:59Now, look what's happened to Ruben Amaran.
05:01If he'd have made me come in in the summit, it's his summit,
05:03it's his players that he brings in.
05:05You've got to be really sure if you want to keep...
05:07What you don't want to do is spend money,
05:09and then you change the manager in November if it continues the league for him.
05:12I don't think one game should completely cloud the plan of maybe what the owner was,
05:19even though it's a great...
05:20And you know what?
05:21If Ange Postacoglou was to go, whether it was his decision or the club's decision,
05:24I mean, what a way to go out.
05:26Yeah, what a way to go out on a high there.
05:28Stick around because, of course, we will get into Manchester United
05:31and what this means for the club going forward.
05:32But very briefly, Roy, could you sum up how the fans may be feeling right now?
05:37Do you know what?
05:38Just when you think things can't get any worse for Man United,
05:41they have.
05:42It's been the story all year.
05:44They've been getting out of jail a little bit with European football,
05:47and it's been covering, obviously, the huge cracks at Man United.
05:51So when you lose tonight...
05:52But you can't keep...
05:53You can't be...
05:54All season, they've been so easy to beat.
05:56They got a bit lucky in Europe a few times,
05:58and tonight, again, ultimately, not good enough.
06:00Didn't show enough quality, not enough option off the bench.
06:02And again, if I go back to it,
06:03if you're dependent on Harry Maguire to get you out of jail,
06:06you're in trouble.
06:08Yeah, well, stick around
06:09because we'll be bringing you the trophy presentation in just a few moments.
06:28Welcome back.
06:29You're watching the reactions in the Estadio de San Manes in Bilbao, northern Spain,
06:35as Tottenham have won their first European trophy in 41 years.
06:40North London is very happy with the job
06:42that Andr Pasterkoglou have managed to do there.
06:44Of course, incredible scenes.
06:47They were the underdogs going into this.
06:49Guillaume has managed to catch up with one of the starting XI,
06:52Brennan Johnson.
06:53Let's hear from him.
06:55Brennan, your name is going to be in the waltz of Waher Lane.
07:01Yeah, I mean, I can't describe the feeling right now,
07:04but I don't care if anyone scored.
07:07I don't care if the kit man scored.
07:08We just needed to win the final.
07:10And yeah, to get the job done today is such a special feeling.
07:15You not only won, you changed history.
07:18You feel that way?
07:19Yeah, I think so.
07:21We just needed to win a trophy.
07:22This club deserves trophies.
07:23It's such a good club.
07:24Everything's there for us.
07:26And although in the league it hasn't been good enough,
07:28we knew this was a massive opportunity from day one.
07:31First game, Carabao.
07:32We got told that this competition is special.
07:35And I think you'll see now how special it is to us.
07:38Is it your goal, by the way?
07:41I don't know.
07:42And I do not care one bit.
07:44Give it to me.
07:45You can give it to whoever the defender was.
07:46I don't care one bit.
07:47How often you dream this?
07:51It's been tough to dream it because the last two days,
07:54I've just had a real...
07:56I wouldn't say nervous because I was confident,
07:58but I haven't been able to think about the game too much.
08:00I just wanted to get out there and just enjoy it.
08:03And now we finally can enjoy it.
08:06Congratulations, Brennan.
08:08Well, according to your wafer,
08:09Brennan Johnson was the official match winner.
08:11He said to Guillaume there that he doesn't care who scored,
08:14but let's get this right, guys.
08:15You'd want to score in a European final, right?
08:17Yes, of course.
08:18There's the emotion of it now.
08:19He's just delighted.
08:20I'm rightly so, I think, in a game like that.
08:22But it would be nice for him to say he'd score the win
08:25and go in the European final.
08:26Would you like to play me?
08:27Yeah.
08:30I don't get scoring.
08:32So, Tottenham are going to be playing
08:33Champions League football next season.
08:35One of six teams.
08:36We're still yet to find out the other remaining
08:39from the Premier League finishers this weekend.
08:41But how does this Tottenham side fare
08:43in Champions League football, Jamie?
08:45Listen, who knows what the team will look like next season.
08:47There'll be plenty of change.
08:48It might be in the dugout.
08:49It might, obviously, personnel will change.
08:51Listen, of course, they'll find it tough
08:53if the squad they have right now...
08:56Who cares? They won't care.
08:57But the actual quality of the Tottenham team,
08:59we saw that on show tonight.
09:00I mean, they only had one shot on target in the game.
09:02Scores the goal.
09:03You talk about being clinical,
09:04but they weren't two great teams.
09:06And, yeah, it would be tough for them.
09:08But, listen, Tottenham will be a different proposition next season.
09:11They'll have more money to spend, Champions League money.
09:13As I said, I'm sure there'll be a few changes with that squad.
09:16But, listen, right now is not really the time
09:18to be thinking about next season.
09:20It's about the here and now.
09:21Enjoy the night, have a few drinks, have a party.
09:23And they've won more than us in this year.
09:25Yeah, they've had a much better season than us.
09:26Ah, yeah, we can get into that in just a moment.
09:28Well, you take the clubs out there.
09:30Spurs get criticised as much as any club out there, don't they?
09:33They weren't Spurs-y today, were they?
09:34No, they certainly weren't Spurs-y today.
09:36They defended really well.
09:37Attacking players, they weren't great.
09:38Again, we look at the stats,
09:39was it three shots on target or whatever?
09:41But, as we made the point earlier, it doesn't really matter.
09:43But for all the critics over the years of Spurs,
09:45we've said, oh, they've got a lovely stadium,
09:47but it's all about getting trophies.
09:49They can get their hands on that trophy tonight and really enjoy it.
09:52And, obviously, the big rewards,
09:53and, of course, when you come back pre-season,
09:55is the fact you have the Champions League next year.
09:57The knock-on effect for the club is fantastic.
09:59You look at the United end there, how they must be feeling.
10:03But it's Spurs night. Enjoy it.
10:05Yeah, enjoy it.
10:06Like we said, it's their first European trophy in 41 years.
10:10What an achievement by this squad and Ange Postacoglu.
10:14Michael, what do you feel will be going through the minds
10:16of the Manchester United players?
10:18Oh, I mean, despair.
10:20In terms of the game, you know,
10:22with the experience I had with Fernandes and Casemiro,
10:26I just thought they would get over the line in big moments.
10:29They say so much, whether it's the Champions League,
10:31whether it's the Europa League,
10:33that big players stop up in big moments,
10:35and Fernandes couldn't get a grip on the game today.
10:38I thought Spurs defended really well when they needed to.
10:42I said before the game in terms of the way Spurs could get at United as well,
10:48and it paid dividend because they've obviously watched that.
10:51I thought N'Doggy did well against United,
10:54but if you're looking at United now, you think it's not good enough.
10:57They were predictable, weren't they, Michael?
10:59Very predictable.
11:01But I think the bigger picture is, and we'll get into it a little bit later,
11:05is if they would have won tonight, everything would have been fine.
11:09And a smooth over the cracks.
11:11Yes, papering over the cracks.
11:13But we've been talking about Man United for a while now,
11:16and they're not good enough.
11:18And you can't keep just scraping these wins and thinking it's OK.
11:23And we keep talking about the size of Man United,
11:25it's just not right, it's not good enough.
11:28I mean, the one thing I've just seen, you see all the Tottenham players
11:31lying up in the kits, James Maddison's gone full kids, gone full John Terry.
11:35He did travel with the team despite not being available for the final.
11:38He's got shin pads on, that's the good bit.
11:40He just had a grub.
11:44That wasn't for you, right, in 99, no chance of getting the kits on?
11:47No, not for me, but I think the rules have changed, haven't they?
11:50I think the players, there's more medals in the bigger squads,
11:52so they can get on to the pitch.
11:54It's slightly different in my view, but listen, Angelo's a relieved man.
11:57Whatever you say about him, I know he seems like a laid-back guy
12:00and the pressure's getting to him, but there's a lot of relief to him.
12:03Because what happened when you saw him with his staff there,
12:05it's relief as much as anything.
12:07And you think of this Tottenham Hotspur squad, the likes of Son coming on,
12:11he's been a servant to the club 10 years there, one year left on his contract.
12:15He now leaves as a trophy winner with the club, if he leaves the club.
12:19I'm delighted for him, maybe more than the managers.
12:22I know the managers have a lot of criticism, and rightly so,
12:24but sometimes we all, in the game, like to see someone win when they've had a lot of stick.
12:28But for me, Son has been one of the best players in the Premier League
12:31probably over the last six or seven years.
12:33He could have played for any team, but he played for Tottenham,
12:35they don't win things, so a lot of the time we judge players,
12:38and we all say, what have you won? You're judging a player.
12:41Sometimes you have to be in the right place at the right time,
12:43it depends what team you play for.
12:45But for me, he's been one of the best players in the Premier League since he's come,
12:49and he deserves his medal.
12:51Well, Manchester United collecting their runners-up medals.
12:54I'll hand you back over to Clive Tillsley and Rob Green for the trophy presentation.
13:05Manchester United, it's the 22nd defeat of the season,
13:08the most painful of all.
13:11Their first defeat in this Europa League run,
13:14and it leaves them with nothing, nothing to show
13:17for another season of turmoil and flux.
13:21No European football to look forward to next season,
13:25to lure new recruits with,
13:28to appease, frankly, furious fans with.
13:33No silver lining on this United cloud,
13:36no consolation prize,
13:39and no sign of Ruben Amorim finding answers.
13:42Two managers came into this final
13:45trying to convince their doubters.
13:48Two teams came into this final
13:51looking for redemption.
13:54Both needed to win, both needed it bad.
13:58And it's Tottenham Hotspur that have won that victory.
14:01Tottenham Hotspur that have ended the way.
14:06Spurs only missed out on the Champions League by two points a year ago.
14:10They finished fifth, two points behind Aston Villa
14:13in the English Premier League.
14:16It's a famous save that Manchester City's Stefan Ortega made
14:19from Son Heung-min, late in a critical game in the final week.
14:24Manchester United were eighth, that's where they were.
14:27But Tottenham Hotspur, when they won 3-0 at Old Trafford in September,
14:31they were just five points behind Liverpool
14:34in this season's English title race.
14:38And it's worth remembering, they've spent one of the last five seasons
14:42in the Champions League.
14:46Only seven seasons in Europe's Premier Competition
14:49in the whole history of this club.
14:53Let's put Ange Postacoglu's challenge into that perspective.
14:56Top six regulars in recent times,
14:59but non-English champions since 1961.
15:0317 years and 86 days ago,
15:06they won the English League Cup at Wembley, beat Chelsea.
15:09The Spaniard Juan de Ramos was their manager.
15:13It was the team of Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane.
15:18They've competed for 50 more major trophies since then,
15:22and they've won none of them.
15:26Fourth win in European competition,
15:30the first since that penalty shoot-out
15:33at the old White Hart Lane against Anderlecht in 1984.
15:37Tony Parks, their hero that night, still going strong.
15:41And all those former Spurs players we talked about
15:44towards the end of the game,
15:46they'll feel a part of this victory.
15:51A win that Jose Mourinho and Maurizio Pochettino
15:54and Antonio Conte couldn't bring to the club.
15:59Ange Postacoglu has done that.
16:04And waiting at the end of this line,
16:07coming up 10 years a Tottenham player,
16:10Son Heung-min, a doubt for this game through injury.
16:16He's never won, never mind lifted,
16:19a major trophy in his career.
16:21There was a famous match in an Asian Cup
16:25against Ange Postacoglu's Australia,
16:28where Son scored a late equaliser for South Korea
16:32to send it into extra time.
16:34I don't think Ange ever quite forgave him,
16:36although Australia came out on top in Adelaide that night.
16:40But with Hamburg, Leverkusen, South Korea,
16:43Tottenham Hotspur, Son Heung-min has never been a winner,
16:47he's never wiped a smile off his face.
16:50And that smile will be wider than ever tonight.
16:54It's a win for the ages,
16:56a win that a generation of Spurs fans have been waiting for.
17:03The 17-year wait is over.
17:06Glory, glory, Tottenham Hotspur.
17:10And the Spurs go marching on
17:13into the winner's circle again,
17:16into the Champions League again,
17:18into the hearts of their fans again.
17:21Into the hearts of their fans again.
17:24This just means so much.
17:44Tottenham Hotspur, the 2025 European League winners.
17:49Suma there with the trophy.
17:51Absolute scenes in the Estadio de San Mames.
17:54What can we say about this team?
17:56They are 17th in the Premier League table.
17:59They've lost 21 games in the league this season,
18:03yet they have just won a European trophy
18:05and they will be playing in Champions League football next season.
18:08Listen, I'm not going to forget what I've watched all season.
18:11Credit to him tonight.
18:12He didn't play particularly well.
18:13He won a final.
18:14When we talk about what are we going to say about this team,
18:16let's not say it's a great team.
18:17Let's not call them warriors.
18:18Let's not get carried away about what's happened tonight.
18:21It's a brilliant moment for that man,
18:23the supporters, some of the players there.
18:25And they've done well tonight to get over the line.
18:29I didn't think they were capable of doing it.
18:31I thought the history and the mentality
18:33of certain Manchester United players
18:35would be too much for this Tottenham team.
18:36But the lack of quality in the game was frightening watching it.
18:40It did feel like you were watching a team 16th and 17th in the Premier League.
18:44But you know what?
18:45In five, ten years' time, they've won a trophy
18:48and Spurs don't win trophies.
18:50So they've created history.
18:52And they'll be having get-togethers in 20, 25 years today
18:56telling each other they're all legends.
18:58And maybe in Spurs' way, they are.
19:01They've done something that very few Spurs teams have done before.
19:04You've always got to win European trophies.
19:06What's it like?
19:07What's this moment like?
19:08It was different for me in the league.
19:10But in terms of that moment when you get over the line...
19:14I don't know. I was drunk in the dressing room at this stage.
19:17Kind of drunk on my Saras as well.
19:19What was that like? What was you drinking?
19:21Top shelf?
19:22Champagne, I think.
19:23Good stuff.
19:24Yeah, good old days.
19:27But Rory, you did say before this game
19:29you had a niggly feeling that Spurs could get the job done.
19:32It seems like it's been the year of the underdogs.
19:34You look at some of the competition winners across Europe.
19:37Newcastle winning the League Cup over Liverpool.
19:40Crystal Palace more recently beating Manchester City
19:43in the FA Cup.
19:44Bologna in Italy getting their first cup in 51 years.
19:47I just had a feeling today while travelling down here.
19:50I don't know what it was.
19:51A sneaky feeling going to beat them.
19:53If you felt they had the belief...
19:55Of course, in any big game, you look at the first goal.
19:57And when they got that first goal,
19:59I remember they shut up shop very early.
20:01We were watching and going,
20:02there's a long way to go yet.
20:03They were almost playing for time
20:05after probably 50-odd minutes.
20:07But they hung in there, they defended well.
20:09United's lack of quality was there for everyone to see.
20:13But do you know what?
20:14Spurs defended with a bit of spirit, a bit of fight.
20:17They defended crosses and corners.
20:19One or two mistakes, but everyone helped each other out.
20:22You see good players like Sandro.
20:24You can't begrudge them their success.
20:26Huge problems, obviously.
20:27We knew that before for United, but it just confirms it.
20:31But do you know what?
20:32Credit to Spurs.
20:34We know football is tough.
20:37And it's hard to win trophies.
20:39So all credit to them.
20:41Yeah, credit to Spurs.
20:42We'll give you lots more reaction from the scenes there
20:45at the Stadio San Mames.
20:47And of course, react to Manchester United losing this final
20:50and what it means for them going forward.
20:52We'll see you in a moment.
21:12You're watching post-match reaction
21:14to the Europa League final with Charlottesville.
21:16They're lifting the Europa League trophy.
21:20Tottenham beat Manchester United 1-0.
21:22They ended a 41-year wait for their first bit
21:25of European silverware.
21:27I'm in the studios with Roy Keane, Jamie Carragher
21:30and Michael Richards.
21:31Big Meeks, come on, Big Meeks!
21:33Oh, Big Meeks.
21:34OK, well, let's go to Gimbal again, pitch side.
21:36You already spoke to Brennan Johnson.
21:38Let's see if he can get anyone else off.
21:41Yes, hello.
21:43Hello, Anita.
21:44We're waiting for the Spurs players to come
21:47at the other side of the stadium.
21:49They promised to stop one or two here.
21:51And meanwhile, of course, in the stands is only white shirts.
21:55It's Spurs fans who are having a great time.
21:58Nobody ever will ever be able to tell them
22:01that they cannot win finals.
22:03And I think that is the first time
22:05that we've seen that.
22:08And I think that is the first of many of the stories
22:11that's going to come out from here,
22:13including, of course, the future of the manager.
22:16Really, after all what we heard,
22:19that it looked like a done deal,
22:21that Angie's going to leave.
22:23Do you want to leave after this feeling?
22:25Do you want to leave after a trophy?
22:26Do you want to leave after he will tell you
22:28he's had problems with injuries?
22:29He's got a young squad.
22:30He has the possibility of doing something better next season.
22:33And of course, they will be in the Champions League.
22:36Guillaume.
22:39Jamie.
22:40Yes, where's Peter?
22:42Is he hiding? Is he crying? Can we find him?
22:45No.
22:46I think Peter is in the tunnel,
22:49trying to talk to some of the Manchester United players
22:51and with Robbena Morim,
22:52which I'm pretty sure they won't be very pleased
22:55to be stopped and talk about what has been,
22:58must be, a really hurtful defeat.
23:01Guillaume, I just want to ask you,
23:03what was the atmosphere like there?
23:05It looked like it was bouncing.
23:09At the end, of course, no doubt,
23:11there was angst from the Manchester United fans
23:14that saw in the second half, there was three clear chances
23:17the team finally have managed to dominate the game.
23:20That had not happened in the first half,
23:22for part of the second one.
23:24So it was a bit of anger that they hadn't seen that before.
23:27They were trying to push the players.
23:29And quite clearly, in the quarterfinals,
23:31in the semifinals, and certainly in the final,
23:33they approached the game in a different way, haven't they?
23:35They decided to, having beaten 1-0 up,
23:38they thought, you know what,
23:39they probably don't have enough Manchester United to beat us,
23:41so let's defend in our own box.
23:43And what they were getting is a lot of support from the fans.
23:46There was nobody moaning that they were defending
23:49in their own half, that there was not much attacking going on.
23:52And what it was, it was just a lot of support from the fans.
23:56There were players that haven't done the kind of effort
23:58that we've seen today.
24:00Richarlison was dead.
24:02And they were pushed by the noise of the fans,
24:05who, of course, are pleased and happy.
24:07Guillaume, who are you going to get?
24:09Can we get the manager, Ange Poston, please?
24:11And James Madison would be nice in his full kit,
24:14and maybe his darts.
24:17All right, I'm writing this down.
24:19We're going to do one Ange, one Jamie.
24:22Yeah, OK, we'll go for that.
24:25Thank you, Guillaume. We'll catch up with you in just a moment.
24:29So let's just look back at the match-winning moment.
24:33Of course, you weigh for saying that the goal
24:36was officially scored by Brennan Johnson.
24:39A bit of disagreement here in the studio.
24:41Yeah, and listen, it does look like an own goal,
24:43but whether Johnson gets the slightest touch
24:45as it ricochets back offshore.
24:47He throws his leg.
24:49Initially, I thought, when we first saw it,
24:51it was probably so difficult to tell.
24:53But listen, Luke Shaw certainly doesn't want the goal,
24:56and Brennan Johnson does want the goal,
24:58so I don't think we need to get too pedantic about it.
25:02I mean, we see a hit sure there.
25:04He now throws his leg at it.
25:06Who knows?
25:08Yeah, it looks an OG, but as I said, Luke Shaw won't want it.
25:12Oh, no.
25:14He needs to do better there, Adana.
25:16He needs to do better there.
25:18Well, we can leave the debate there,
25:20because we have the winning manager joining us live on CBS Sports,
25:23Ant Postakoglu, leading Tottenham tonight.
25:26Come on, Ant!
25:30Hi, Ant!
25:32You're always winning your second season, mate!
25:34How does that feel?
25:36Come on, I've been backing you all season.
25:38I love your football.
25:40You've had your injuries, young players,
25:42but you did it tonight.
25:44Yeah, I can't say the same for everyone on the panel.
25:49Ant, can you put into words how you're feeling?
25:52Look, it's just...
25:54I mean, I don't know.
25:56I can't put it into words, to be honest.
25:58I know what it means to the football club.
26:00I know what it means to supporters.
26:02Look, it's no secret we've had a tough year,
26:05but I've just had this thing inside me,
26:07you know, kind of the back half of the year
26:09of just one focus, one target.
26:11I just felt that, you know, this was it,
26:13and to achieve it today,
26:16like I said, I know what it means to the club.
26:18It's had the tag of sort of a nearly team for a long time,
26:21and the only way you break that is by winning things,
26:24and we did that today.
26:26Ant, you've had a long sort of managerial career
26:29in different countries, different clubs.
26:31How tough has it been for you this season,
26:33having to deal with sort of, you know,
26:35defeating sort of every press conference after the game,
26:37and then you've got to build up to the next game,
26:39and obviously you've had lots of games,
26:41because obviously if you're older,
26:43run that you've been.
26:45Has it been tough for you as a manager individually?
26:47Look, it's been the toughest couple of years
26:50I've had in my career,
26:52and I knew it going into it,
26:54because I knew what I was going into, you know.
26:57This football club's had world-class managers
26:59and a lot better credential than I am,
27:01and haven't been able to get there,
27:03so I knew I had a massive challenge in front of me.
27:06This year, obviously, added stress of, you know,
27:09the injury situation we had and trying to navigate that.
27:12Jamie, like I said, I've just had this laser focus on,
27:15you know what, I still believe we can win something this year.
27:18We went deep into the Carabao Cup.
27:20Once we got knocked out of that,
27:22my focus just became Europe,
27:24and it's cost us, it's cost us in the league,
27:26and that's down to me,
27:28but I just had a feeling inside me
27:30that this was achievable this year,
27:32and, you know, I'm thankful it all worked out.
27:35Ant, you've had a long sort of managerial career
27:37I'm thankful it all worked out.
27:39And you've spoken a lot about the fact
27:41that what a trophy could do for this club,
27:44not just this team, but almost the club,
27:47because you've felt for a long time
27:49almost like the club's looked down on,
27:51and you have that terminology of Spursy.
27:53What do you think this trophy can actually do,
27:55not just for you and this team,
27:57but actually the club going forward in the future,
27:59for, you know, years to come?
28:01Well, I'm really hoping that it does.
28:04It changes the way the club sees itself more than anything else.
28:07I mean, externally, you know,
28:09you can't really, you know, sort of adjust
28:12whatever people think about you,
28:13but how you feel about yourself is really important.
28:16And as a football club, you know,
28:18we've just been close so many times,
28:20and I could feel the nervousness every time,
28:22you know, in Europe,
28:23every time we got close to something,
28:25there was always this,
28:26oh, what if it's another year where we miss out?
28:28So we've done it now, so that's the monkey off the back.
28:31So now the club can sort of stand tall
28:33and hopefully it does, you know.
28:35It looks at itself a bit differently
28:37and tries to challenge for more trophies.
28:39You've won one now,
28:40so there's nothing stopping you winning again.
28:42Hi, Andrew.
28:43Roy Keane here.
28:44I just want to say, Andrew, well done.
28:45Absolutely fantastic.
28:46Brilliant performance.
28:47Was it partly a tactic with so long to go,
28:49just to sit back in and shut up shop, really?
28:51Did you think one goal would be enough?
28:53Did you actually believe that?
28:56Yeah, I thought we could, Roy.
28:57We've been really disciplined in Europe away from home.
28:59I mean, I think we kept a clean sheet at Frankfurt
29:02and we kept a clean sheet at Bodo away from home
29:05and very similar performances.
29:07And this group's, you know, got that resilience in them now.
29:10Look, it makes a difference when I've got Van der Veen, Romero,
29:13Udogi, Vicario, you know.
29:15And then, you know, Bissouma,
29:17and obviously Pirate right back with Bissouma,
29:19and Bentecourt.
29:21It's a real solid sort of foundation for us
29:23and I just felt with United, if we got ahead,
29:26then I thought they'd find it really hard to break us down
29:29and we'd be a threat on the counter-attack.
29:31We weren't as great in transition as I wanted to be,
29:33but, you know, they had some chances,
29:35but I just felt we were strong and resilient enough
29:38to keep them out.
29:39Ang, one more from Big Meeks himself.
29:42I know this is not the Champions League show,
29:44this is Europa League, but I would like to ask you,
29:46who's your favourite on the show?
29:48Before you go.
29:52Well, it's not me.
29:54I don't think it's Gary either.
29:58I'm the only Spurs fan here, Ang, by the way.
30:00I'm the only Spurs fan.
30:01Ooh, he's come clean now.
30:03Hey, we were all Spurs fans tonight.
30:06Yeah, yeah, no, you're definitely a declared Spurs fan.
30:08We got you in our camp, Roy.
30:10Yeah, look, I...
30:12Look, I love what I do.
30:14I'm so blessed to be able to, you know,
30:18do what I love every day,
30:19and I've got beautiful people around me and my family,
30:21and so even in the hardest of days,
30:23I still think, you know...
30:25I had to pinch myself today, to be honest.
30:27I've got mates who come from Australia
30:29and part of me was thinking I should be in the stand with them,
30:31just enjoying the spectacle, you know.
30:33It's difficult for me to comprehend,
30:36but, you know, we're here now, we've won it,
30:38and, you know, it's something in my old age I can reflect on.
30:41Well, Ang, sorry to interject, but I asked about me, not you.
30:47Sorry, mate, sorry.
30:50Sorry, Mika.
30:52You've been in my camp all along.
30:54I love you, mate.
30:55I think Joe Hart's probably influenced you.
31:00Ang, congratulations, well done.
31:02Come celebrate.
31:05Thank you, guys, well done.
31:07Well, there you have it.
31:09Ang, what's the connection between me and Joe Hart, the reference,
31:12just in case you...
31:13I feel like there's a couple of things we need to address,
31:15because Roy all of a sudden comes out at the end of the show,
31:17I'm a Spurs fan.
31:18Well, he said it before, he said it before.
31:21He's picking his favourite, you know, there's a Spurs fan here.
31:24You know who he's like, he's like Don King.
31:26Oh, no, no, no.
31:30What are you going to say if you speak to Al Marim?
31:33It's a tough going.
31:34It's brutal.
31:35Life of a manager.
31:36No, no, top-level sport is brutal.
31:38You have to sometimes lose to win.
31:40This is a tough one, United, but this is about Spurs,
31:43and I was in Palace last weekend.
31:45You have to congratulate Spurs, fantastic.
31:47United, we'll see what kind of team they are,
31:49I've grouped them out the bunks back next season,
31:51but long summer ahead for United.
31:53Jamie, what did you make of Aaron Shepard's comments
31:55when he spoke about their tactics?
31:57He said he thought they'd be hard to break down.
32:00Well, listen, I've been critical of Andrew Poster Coggan,
32:03and he referenced that, and we had the laugh and the joke,
32:05and rightly so, but what I loved tonight was
32:08he went to five at the back,
32:10he brought Dan Sohan at the end of the game,
32:12and that's the type of thing I've been calling for.
32:14If you're not at your best, OK, how can we nullify the opposition?
32:16Because Manchester United were getting on top second half,
32:18and it felt to me like, not that they were getting chances,
32:21but they were just getting sort of territory,
32:23and we changed it, we did something different,
32:25and Dan Sohan made a header, I think about five or six minutes ago,
32:28one of the best pieces of defending that we saw in the game,
32:31and I love that.
32:33I mean, we were speaking to Roy before, early on as well,
32:35about managers being adaptable.
32:37It's OK sticking to your guns, you can't change every week,
32:39but at times you've got to change,
32:41and he identified that tonight,
32:43and I'd just love to see a little bit more of that from him.
32:45But there was one thing he also said to me,
32:47I thought, you know what, he's right,
32:49he's talking about his mate coming over from Australia,
32:51I mean, a young guy from Australia who loves football,
32:53football's not really that big a sport in that country,
32:55and he's over in England now,
32:57managing one of the biggest teams in the country,
32:59and he's just won a European trophy,
33:01so in terms of the journey he's made from Australia, fantastic.
33:04He's done the hard jam. Yeah. He's done the hard jam.
33:06Yeah, so Jamie, essentially what I heard you say there
33:08is that Andrzej Postakow, if you listen to your critics,
33:10win, and that's how we won the game!
33:12And you had to make it about Wigley.
33:14Yeah, you know, you had to give it a little spin there.
33:16I'm sure he'll thank me one day.
33:18Maybe not today.
33:20But, Micah, what stood out to you from what he said there?
33:22No, I just think he's a great human being,
33:26in terms of... Have you ever met him?
33:28I've met him a couple of times, actually.
33:30LAUGHTER
33:32And when they finished fifth in the first season,
33:34we thought that he'd have momentum from that season
33:36going to this season, but he's been a little bit spiky,
33:38you see a little bit more of his personality,
33:41but I just love it for him.
33:43He didn't want to answer you there, he was your favourite.
33:45He said me! He basically said me.
33:47I think you bullied him.
33:49I love these moments for him.
33:51You see the moments with players and families,
33:53and you have to remember what players go through.
33:55The families suffer as well.
33:57The disappointments, so it's nice for the family,
33:59partners, kids, to enjoy it.
34:01Just on that, you talked about,
34:03when Jamie asked the question about Royal,
34:05I think it was about him adapting as well.
34:08We've talked about Spurs on this high line for so long,
34:11and Jamie, on numerous occasions,
34:13said the need to adapt,
34:16and I just thought, in today's game,
34:19he got his tactics spot on.
34:21OK, well, we need to go to a quick break.
34:23Hopefully, we'll get James Madison for Jamie.
34:26I know he's excited to talk to him,
34:27but we'll definitely get reaction
34:29from the Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim.
34:31Of course, not a good night.
34:33He's been speaking to Peter Schmeichel,
34:35so we'll speak to you after this quick break.
34:46Welcome along to our post-game show.
34:48We're reacting to Tottenham winning
34:50the Europa League final.
34:52In the studio with me,
34:53Roy Keogh, Jamie Carragher, and Vickie.
34:56You've been great tonight.
34:59You know, I had to do good for Arsenal in some way.
35:02Stop mentioning that.
35:03I mean, just tonight.
35:05You know, I had to do good for Arsenal in some way.
35:08Stop mentioning that.
35:09I mean, just tonight.
35:11I had to do good for Arsenal in some way.
35:13I mean...
35:14Does tonight make Arsenal's season worse?
35:16Oh, come on, Z.
35:18It's about Spurs tonight.
35:19Michael's the pundit.
35:20Let's talk about Spurs tonight.
35:22We don't need to bring Arsenal into it.
35:23You know this.
35:24No, Michael, you're not going to give a word on it?
35:26No, I'm not entertaining.
35:27Spurs are out.
35:28Oh, come on.
35:29They've both got Champions League football
35:30and one's got a trophy.
35:31And one has a European trophy, one doesn't.
35:34Yeah, judges.
35:37What are the chances of North London
35:39Champions League derby next season?
35:42Maybe the knockout stage?
35:43That'd be nice, wouldn't it?
35:44Oh, imagine table time.
35:45It's going to be all bad.
35:46OK, well, we're going to react to the game and not on Arsenal
35:48because Peter Schmalka has been talking
35:50to the Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim.
35:52Here's what he's had to say.
35:55Ruben, I know how much you love your job.
35:57You talk about that a lot.
35:58And, I mean, this has got to be the worst.
36:01To come out here and try to explain how this game
36:05didn't turn out the way that we all wanted it to turn out.
36:08Yeah, it's part of the job.
36:09We have to deal with that.
36:10We have to try to explain to the people
36:13the feeling of the dressing room.
36:15We are obviously devastated with this loss.
36:19We lost one game in this competition.
36:21We didn't win it in the last game.
36:23I think if you look at the whole game,
36:26we were the better team.
36:27But in the end, if you don't score goals,
36:29you cannot win matches.
36:30How do you think the game was played by your players today?
36:33I think the first half was a little bit tense.
36:37The possession in both teams was not long.
36:40We couldn't keep the ball for so long.
36:44Tottenham the same way.
36:45A lot of second balls.
36:47But in the second half, we pushed the opponent
36:50to near the box.
36:51We tried to cross, to create situations.
36:54So, in the end, they defend the goal that they scored
36:57in the divide match in the first half.
37:00In the second half, we tried everything.
37:01But in the end, it was nothing.
37:03We talked before the game.
37:04We talked about the access to the Champions League.
37:07We're not going to talk too much about the future.
37:09But is there a contingency plan now that we're not
37:13in the Champions League?
37:14You may think you have more time to develop the team.
37:18Is that a positive that we can take out of this?
37:20It's hard to talk about positives today.
37:23But we need to take advantage of everything.
37:25We need a little bit of positive.
37:27If we are going to suffer because we don't have
37:30the Champions League and it's hard on the club.
37:32But on the other side, we will have time to develop
37:36the team, to pay attention to our academy
37:39and to prepare for the future.
37:40So, that is clear.
37:42We need to use every minute to improve the team.
37:45And, of course, we always have two plans
37:51to go to the summer.
37:52Okay. Thank you very much.
37:57As you can understand, Peter feeling rather sad.
37:59Not the case for our Spurs fan over here
38:01on my left-hand side.
38:02But we're going to go to Peter right now.
38:04Of course, he's just been talking to him.
38:05Peter, I feel so sorry for you.
38:07Of course, we've had a lot of fun on the road.
38:09I thought I'd be going to Old Trafford
38:11with you next season.
38:12Not to be the case.
38:14What was the mood like around there?
38:16Well, unless we start doing the Premier League.
38:20But no European football.
38:24You know, I don't know.
38:27I mean, I listened to some of the other interviews he did
38:30just around me.
38:31And he's talking about control.
38:32I wanted him to use the word that we're in control
38:35because I wanted to ask him,
38:36what's the difference between being in control
38:39and playing well?
38:40Because I don't think the team played well.
38:43I was very, very frustrated sat here
38:46just looking at the same pattern every time.
38:48The ball got to Harry Maguire.
38:50He played it out to Maserati.
38:51Then Ahmed got the ball.
38:52He tried a little bit, passed it back.
38:55It wasn't what we saw in the last 10 minutes
38:59of the Lyon game, for instance.
39:01All of that wasn't there today.
39:02And you think they're in the final.
39:05Somebody's got to bring something,
39:07but it wasn't there.
39:08Peter, can I ask you?
39:10You know, he's persistent on playing this 3-4-3.
39:14It doesn't work with these players, does it?
39:19In all fairness, today it wouldn't have mattered
39:22what system they played
39:23because Spurs just literally defended.
39:26They did it well.
39:27They had one shot on target today.
39:29That was a goal, which was an all-goal.
39:31They had one touch in the second half
39:33in Manchester United's box.
39:35One touch.
39:36They just defended.
39:37So, you know, whatever system you...
39:41Yes!
39:45Whatever system, it wouldn't have mattered.
39:47Manchester!
39:49How you doing, Jamesy boy?
39:51You've got to change.
39:52I had to to get the medal.
39:54James has literally done...
39:56What's it called? The John Terry?
39:58It's called the James Madison now.
40:03Have you got your shin pads on, James?
40:05No.
40:06No boots.
40:07To be fair, I wasn't going to do any interviews,
40:09but then I heard it was with Roy Keane.
40:13Hey, Maddox, can you do the dance, please?
40:15Do it for us, will you?
40:17Will I? With pleasure, Michael.
40:19Roy Keane, that's what you said.
40:22Samuel Flandey!
40:26I've always said he's a good player.
40:28I've always said he's a good player,
40:30but he needs to be more consistent.
40:32Simple as that.
40:33And he played well tonight.
40:38The reason why we're here tonight, Roy.
40:41Don't worry, I know you played your part.
40:43Well done, don't worry.
40:45I'm only messing now.
40:46I came down to the word that he just pulled me,
40:48but I didn't like it.
40:50James, can I just ask you,
40:52what is this feeling?
40:54You've joined Tottenham,
40:56you want to win trophies,
40:58but you're always sort of talked about as a club
41:00who don't win, they can't get over the line.
41:02What's that going to mean to the players right now?
41:04What's the feeling being leading up to this game
41:06and almost that pressure on you
41:08to prove so many people wrong?
41:11Well, that's what it is, to be fair.
41:13All joking aside, people like yourself and Roy
41:16who go quite heavy in the media about putting us down and that,
41:19you've got to use that, you know what I mean?
41:21And when I joined Tottenham, and you know what it's like,
41:23everyone just goes,
41:24ah, he's retired from winning any trophies now and all this.
41:27And I said to my dad and I said to my best mate,
41:30I was like, I'm going to lift silverware for Tottenham.
41:32And listen, I know it sounds like I'm not trying to make this mad story,
41:36but I fully believe that I could come
41:38and we could create something that could.
41:40And just building up, you know what it's like, it gets bigger.
41:42We're against United, who have been a dominant force
41:44over the years in Europe and domestically.
41:47Even in the last few years when they haven't been great,
41:49they've still managed to pick up trophies
41:51and we knew that would be a bit of the chat going into it.
41:55But I sensed a focus and I sensed a togetherness,
41:58especially this year as well with Palace winning the FA Cup
42:02and a lot of them outsiders kind of winning.
42:04I sensed it could be something special.
42:06So you're calling yourself outsiders then?
42:08No, no, no, but I'm just saying Palace were outsiders and won
42:11and then Harry Kane went and won his first title.
42:14And I think Bologna won in the Italia Cup against Milan.
42:18I just had this feeling, you know.
42:20And especially with Di Gaffa,
42:22with what he said at the start of the season as well,
42:24it made sense, didn't it?
42:26James, it's just interesting what you say
42:28when people sort of give you criticism.
42:30And one of the reasons why we do give,
42:32not just your Tottenham team criticism,
42:34the club over the last few years is that you've lost seven semifinals
42:38since your last win of trophy.
42:40You've lost four finals.
42:41So I think the criticism comes from not getting across the line.
42:43But how does that criticism affect you or the dressing room
42:47when you hear the likes of us on the panel or other people?
42:50Do you use it? Does it affect players now?
42:52Because we probably didn't have it in the social media world
42:55as much as players have it now.
42:58Yeah, well, the social media world, Cara,
43:00heightens everything times 100, doesn't it?
43:03But when you talk about them records,
43:05a lot of the players haven't been here for that long, that record.
43:08So it's almost like an incentive to be the group that can change that.
43:11Do you know what I mean?
43:12And the gaffer, to be fair to him, since he come in, has always said,
43:15he pointed in our dressing room at the Spurs ground,
43:19they've got all the walls of all the teams that Spurs have won trophies,
43:23and they're all black and white and they're all old.
43:25And he's always made a thing about saying that, get on that wall.
43:29It's about us getting on that wall.
43:31Like you think of Harry Kane,
43:32who's the best player in the club's history,
43:34and he's not on the wall, unfortunately.
43:36And being the group that can change that.
43:38And we have now.
43:39I can smile, I can enjoy, I can have a beer tonight.
43:43James, can you show us that medal, please?
43:45Can you bring it closer to the camera?
43:47I'll get nice and close for you, Michael.
43:49Yes, of course you will.
43:51Give it a kiss.
43:52Look at that.
43:53Give it a kiss.
43:54Absolutely fantastic.
43:57But James, James, before you go, one last question.
44:01You know, this is a different team tonight, not the Champions League.
44:03This is the Europa League team.
44:05I just want to ask you, who's your favourite on the show?
44:09Oh, God.
44:11Roy's not a regular, is he?
44:13Like, he would spin.
44:19Turned up in all the big ones, Cara.
44:21You go and check your stats.
44:26Micah, you're my favourite, mate.
44:30Congratulations.
44:32Congratulations.
44:39Oh, what a personality he's got.
44:41Yeah, definitely.
44:42Peter, that was a bit awkward.
44:43You were there almost crying about the state of your club
44:46and then James comes along celebrating.
44:48Yeah, I know.
44:49But can you give us just one final word on the state of Manchester United?
44:52Where do they go from now?
44:53Anita, I know James quite well.
44:56Obviously, he played with my son at Leicester.
44:58He's a good lad.
44:59He's a really, really good player.
45:01And I thought for a long, long time, running up, preparing for this game,
45:04that he would be missed today.
45:06But the way that Tottenham played,
45:08I don't think that he could have made a big difference
45:10with the skills that he has.
45:13Maybe they could have played different.
45:15I don't know.
45:16But honestly, on that United question,
45:20this season has been so bad.
45:23We've lost 18 games in the Premier League.
45:2718 games!
45:28I haven't got this top of my head,
45:30but I don't even think in my time I lost 18 games
45:35in the whole eight years I was there.
45:37It's just too much.
45:39And the thing about it is, where do you see the light?
45:43Where is the hope?
45:44What is it that you can cling on to where you say,
45:46OK, fine, now I can see this going forward.
45:50I just can't see.
45:51The only thing, and I asked Ruben about that,
45:53probably the wrong time to ask him,
45:55but I asked him, the time you will get now to train with your players,
45:59is that a positive that we can take from this?
46:02And of course he didn't completely answer that,
46:04but it's the only thing.
46:06But changes need to happen, and it's not just the football team,
46:10it's not just in the dressing room there,
46:12it's everywhere at the football club.
46:14Peter, Toddy just checked that you actually lost 19 in your first season.
46:23What we can be sure of is it will be Manchester United's
46:26worst league finish in the Premier League era.
46:28But Peter, we'll let you go and drown your sorrows,
46:31and I'll see you in Munich next week.
46:33Thank you so much for today.
46:34See you next week, Peter.
46:35Looking forward to it.
46:36Wow.
46:37See you guys.
46:38Contrast of emotions there.
46:39Sad Peter, very happy James Madison,
46:41giving you guys a bit of taste of medicine there.
46:43We'll be back after a quick break
46:45when we look at how Manchester United go forward.
46:47It better be quick, we've got six minutes.
47:02TOTTENHAM HOTSPURS
47:07Great to have you with us as we react
47:09to Tottenham beating Manchester United in the Europa League final.
47:12These are scenes from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London.
47:15Thousands of people in there watching
47:17as Brennan Johnson got the match winner early on in the first half.
47:22Of course, the boys aren't quite sure it was a Brennan Johnson goal,
47:25they thought it was more of an own goal,
47:27but it doesn't matter to these fans because look at that.
47:29After 41 years, they have got a European trophy
47:32and one of their biggest players, Harry Kane,
47:34of course, didn't win any silverware with the club,
47:36is congratulating them.
47:38What a lovely year for the two, I guess, Harry Kane and the club.
47:42He won with Bayern Munich, the Bundesliga,
47:44the club have now got some silverware,
47:46it seems like the stars have aligned for them.
47:48Yeah, but you'd expect Harry to win something at Bayern.
47:50There's a big surprise with silverware,
47:52Tottenham have been playing off last few months
47:54that they would get over the line in a big game,
47:56but they did, proved us all wrong.
47:58Yeah, well, Jamie, you've been looking back at the big moment of the game.
48:01Yes, and you got the analysis right before the game.
48:03Me? Yeah, so you can hand it over to me,
48:05I'll be taking this, thank you very much.
48:07Well, we mentioned this inside channel here,
48:09we mentioned about the bodies,
48:11but this space here, once it goes like that,
48:14they all don't know what to do,
48:16and we talked about the game engaging,
48:18and we're going to play it on the second angle a little bit slower
48:21just so we can break it down a little bit more here.
48:23So, they've got the players in the areas here,
48:26but because they're playing this 3-4-3 system,
48:29they all don't know what to do.
48:31This is a great run, just pause it here.
48:34This is brilliant.
48:36Chloe, if you just pause it there, brilliant.
48:38It takes Fernandes away to allow to get into this inner channel,
48:42but look at all these bodies here,
48:44no-one knows what to do there. Jamie?
48:46I always say this as centre-back,
48:48I'm going to look at Maguire a lot on this goal,
48:50because the only reason any player makes a run
48:52is, and I really know this is a midfield play,
48:54because you see space.
48:55You don't run if there's players there,
48:57because you're just going to run into them.
48:59The space between, I think this is Yoro,
49:01there's Harry Maguire, the space between the set can't be that big.
49:04He has to fill that space, and then what happens is
49:06you have to become a back four.
49:08So, this thing that you play in the back five,
49:10sometimes if one of your defenders steps out,
49:12you're a four, and then everybody comes out.
49:14That space is too big, which then means
49:16the top-run player makes that run,
49:18because there's too much space between your defenders.
49:20And my point is, the Spurs aren't doing anything extraordinary here.
49:23This is where you still have to be really critically united,
49:25defensive shape and decision-making.
49:28We discussed it before in the game,
49:30when it does go wide and the ball's put in,
49:32the player's not doing their job, not concentrating.
49:34Shaw, maybe not match fit.
49:36Maguire, focus on his man.
49:37Remember, there's only one ball.
49:39Just focus on the ball sometimes.
49:40If we could just roll that on slowly, please.
49:43I mean, you talk about people's body positions,
49:46you talk about being very aggressive.
49:49So, actually, they're in decent positions here,
49:52and we just stop it here.
49:54Now, when you play wing-back in this side,
49:57the whole point when you're playing in this system
49:59is so you can engage.
50:01No-one engages.
50:02Roll it on slowly there, please.
50:04That is too easy.
50:07And then can Maguire do a little bit better there also?
50:11And we ask our defenders,
50:12we ask our defenders, people talk about our midfielders,
50:14about doing the job.
50:15You've got to multitask.
50:16You've got to be able to do this and still clear the ball,
50:18as if, like, I've got my man here.
50:20No, you've got to multitask.
50:21Do more than one job.
50:22It's just been too easy.
50:24Far too easy.
50:25It's been like that all season for United.
50:26Far too easy.
50:27Roy, unfortunately, we can't have you next season
50:29for a Manchester United perspective,
50:31but would you come as a Spurs fan?
50:32Can we swap him for anyone?
50:33Not sure.
50:34Not sure.
50:35LAUGHTER
50:36Spinty region.
50:37We've enjoyed having you in the studio.
50:39Marks out of 10 for the Roys' debut?
50:41Absolutely brilliant.
50:4211.
50:4311.
50:4410 out of 10.
50:45Who's Kate?
50:46Who's Thierry?
50:48Ooh!
50:49We've got a new team in town!
50:50Oh, yeah!
50:51A new team in town!
50:52LAUGHTER
50:54What would you give Anita?
50:5510 out of 10, maybe.
50:56Ooh!
50:57Thank you, guys.
50:58It's been a pleasure to work with.
50:59Yeah.
51:00Me?
51:01Me.
51:02Your analysis, 10 out of 10?
51:03We're always top notch, aren't we?
51:04We're always top notch, aren't we?
51:06We should probably send Tottenham that analysis.
51:08They might need it next season.
51:09Yeah, might do.
51:10OK, well, congratulations to Tottenham, Hotspur.
51:12Thank you to Jamie, Roy and Micah.
51:14It's been an absolute pleasure having you with us
51:16for the Europa League final.
51:17Of course, you'll have Championship play-off at the weekend
51:20and then Champions League final next week in Munich.
51:24PSG against Inter Milan.
51:25Can't wait to see you.
51:26Take care.
51:27Goodnight.
