02:21Still a lot going on as you see a lot of teams still miss
02:25still missing from the front of the of the race and
02:29Group of a dozen clear and they're total starting to ride on the front. Yes, Tiberi as well. Yeah, Antonio Tiberi
02:36Fulsang. There's something you would not expect
02:39He's not not sure what to do now though, is he? He's like Del Toro finds himself there Tiberi as well
02:44They're looking around. They're not gonna push on with that one, but the peloton hasn't come back yet
02:51Oh
03:09From the GC group, there's an attack Egan Bernal Rafa Maika moves to the front of Juana Yuzo as well
03:15I think by the looks of it slotted straight onto the front and Egan Bernal launched long range on his own
03:20And that has created a bit of chaos here behind so this this attackers definitely
03:25We're gonna bring back the peloton a little bit much closer to the peloton Pelizzaris dropped
03:30Isak del Toro following Juana Yuzo straight onto the wheel of Egan Bernal
03:50The front of the race or in the peloton they've eased up with the one exception of when the brake finally went on the slow on the lower slope to the big cat one climb
04:02They rode
04:03They just blocked the road for but honestly for no more than about three minutes before they started to string it out and ride quite hard again
04:10Yeah, they've had no respite today. No today is gonna be a very demanding for all the riders involved whether you're up front like
04:18Fortunato hasn't looked around to check what no and he does now
04:21Check what Naila Quintana's intentions are and I think he's gonna be allowed to roll over and take those 18 points. Yes, he is
04:26So Lorenzo Fortunato moves to 156 points now
04:31Yeah, so much time so quickly
04:33We've seen Mads Pedersen doing this type of efforts already often quite often like last especially last year in in Dauphine or
04:40This year in in Paris, so it's like an incredibly strong. Oh, Quintana
04:46well
04:48Lorenzo Fortunato has taken the whole climb on the front and Quintana rolls him and takes a point
04:53I mean it is a bike race, but that's not gonna go down. Well
05:03as ever
05:10Beautifully placed there
05:12Carapaz though opens up a little bit of a gap and Rafa Maika as he's done so many times in his past goes after an attacker to try and
05:19Bring the Malia Rosa back, but Richard Carapaz a long-range attack now not at altitude here
05:24But on this little category to climb a searing attack from the former Olympic champion Carapaz at his best
05:30Now he's opening a little gap while Isaac del Toro is still waiting and rely on Rafa Maika probably
05:37Because this man is Richard Carapaz the former winner of the Giro d'Italia a man who came very close to winning it for a second time
05:44Only to be tonight late on in the race
05:47He is a GC champion with the heart of a one-day racer a pure attacker
05:52And that was a moment of brilliance from Richard Carapaz. He's gonna take a stage win
05:57He's gonna take a small gap over the line. He's gonna take 10 bonus seconds, and he is back in this race
06:04Richard Carapaz
06:07Reckon with another name. He is not done yet much more to come from Carapaz
06:11That was a sensational victory as we look down the road see the size of the gap and watch the sprint for second place and del Toro
06:19Cruises over the line to take six seconds ahead of Giulio Ciccone and Tom Pidcock
06:23Disturbing in 2016
06:41to something like his best here
06:48richard carapaz and a rider everybody will have to take very seriously
06:53even if he is the best part of 10 years older than
06:57the mallorosa
06:59richard carapaz
07:02often you associate with a big high altitude mountain range
07:08but there's a lot more to him than that and that was a punchy attack over a
07:11relatively short distance that ultimately
07:14read the race perfectly and was unanswerable
07:19they did try and chase him down towards the end
07:21unsuccessfully combination of Rafa Maika, Brandon McNulty and Adam Yates
07:25dented his advantage but not by much
07:28and he hung on to win by 10 seconds
07:32so we have another team now adding their name to the list of winners here at the Giro d'Italia
07:44EF Education Easy Post who up until this point I think were still trailing in the prize money of all the teams
07:50there won't be any more because Richard carapaz has really made his mark for that team now
07:55with a memorable Giro stage win
08:02thumbs up for the camera and be very interesting to see what happens next for Richard carapaz
08:11won't be doing much I don't think for the next three days as the race in terms of the general classification
08:16should be fairly neutral all other things being equal like the weather
08:20but carapaz is yet another rider who's forced this general classification ever tighter this unsettled and unsettling general classification that we have here
08:34totally different script and different story from last year because at this point last year Tate Pogacar already had a great champion
08:41a massive and pretty much unassailable lead on GC
08:45I don't think anyone would say that about this race
08:49spectacular racing in a spectacular backdrop
08:53and here's your reminder again of the top 10
08:57stage by stage his case for the overall win becomes more convincing
09:14although there are so many big tests still to come in the third week
09:17and indeed this week just maybe the next three days might be quite quiet in the general classification
09:23as we turn our attention to the rare opportunities at this Giro for the sprinters and the puncheurs
09:44but it's been a faultless Giro d'Italia so far for Isaac Del Toro, literally faultless
09:48his 6 second time bonus gives him now a 31 second buffer over his team mate Juan Ayuso
09:58and a 1.07 lead over Antonio Tiberi
10:01the gap between Simon Yates and Antonio Tiberi is still 2 seconds
10:05but carapaz moves up into 6th place now within 2 minutes of the race lead
10:09we'll see you next time
10:11up
