02:33toiled in the sunshine to try and make it through
02:35to the bottom of the final climb, clear of the field.
02:40The main peloton loomed as the 11.1 km of the Pianetze climb
02:46loomed in the distance.
02:49And, well, 7.2% average, 11% maximum gradient
02:54was going to prove too challenging for last year's runner-up
02:57and world champion Lotto Kopecki, among many others.
03:00A really strong injection of face
03:03by the Movistar squad at the bottom of the mountain
03:04could pay to Anna Henderson's chances
03:07of retaining the Magliorosa.
03:09And Marlon Reusser was on the attack,
03:12having pared the group down
03:14to just a handful of favourites.
03:16She throttled back a little bit,
03:17allowing other riders to regroup and regain.
03:21Into the final five kilometres.
03:24Reusser and others on the front.
03:26Anna van der Brekken with a sustained pull.
03:29to try and thin out that group.
03:31The four-time champion not able to follow
03:34when Reusser launched her second attack.
03:37And then, within a couple of kilometres
03:39off the finish line,
03:41Serra Gigante of the AG Sidal squad
03:43surprising Reusser, Longoborgini,
03:46and Niedermeyer with a really impressive effort
03:50that drew her clear.
03:52She would expand her advantage
03:53all the way to the finish line.
03:56Behind Alisa Longoborgini, the reigning champion,
03:59looking to limit her losses
04:02to the flying Australian rider
04:04and also potentially put Marlon Reusser
04:06under a bit of pressure.
04:07Niedermeyer fading a little
04:08from the two chasers.
04:09It's up front and into the final couple of hundred kilometres.
04:13Into the final couple of hundred metres.
04:16Serra Gigante across the line
04:17to scoop her first victory in Giro d'Italia.
04:22Behind Alisa Longoborgini,
04:2425 seconds back.
04:27Claimed the bonus seconds for a second
04:29and paired her deficit to Marlon Reusser.
04:34It's behind Anna Henderson.
04:35Ten minutes in her ears.
04:36Handed over the overall race lead.
04:38Serra Gigante claiming her first success
04:40at World Tour level in the Grand Tours.
04:45And Marlon Reusser back in pink.
04:47Now with a reduced advantage

05:04for her efforts.
05:06She's into the lead of the mountains competition
05:08with a 15 point advantage.
05:13And Antonia Niedermeyer,
05:15as usual, is the leader
05:16of the young rider competition
05:18heading into stage five.
05:19of the young rider competition.
05:22So, Sarah, congratulations.
05:23We have seen your big, big smile
05:25in the last kilometers
05:26and all the fans cheering for you.
05:28What are the emotions now?
05:29Yeah, I'm really in shock.
05:31I knew I was riding quite strongly
05:33and I knew I had an amazing team.
05:35We saw that already
05:36at the previous races
05:38like the Tour of Swiss
05:39and also in stage two.
05:40But to come away with the stage win
05:42after such great teamwork
05:44all day and all week
05:46is just beyond my dreams really.
05:49I'm coming back from a big surgery.
05:51I had six months off
05:53after iliac artery endofibrosis
05:55and then I dislocated my shoulder
05:57just as I was coming back.
05:58So, it's been a long time
06:00and this is by far my biggest win
06:04especially in Europe.
06:05So, I'm just so grateful
06:06to my team
06:07for always believing in me.
06:09Not just this week
06:10but ever since I joined the team
06:12I just love the team.
06:13So, thank you AG Insurance to Dell.
06:15What there was in your mind
06:17when you decided
06:17to leave alone behind you
06:19Elisa Longoborghini
06:20and Marlene Rosser?
06:22Yeah, I mean my DS
06:23Dani was amazing on the radio.
06:25She was telling me
06:26stay calm, stay calm
06:27because even from the bottom
06:29Marlene attacked
06:30and we had a gap.
06:32I could have spent
06:33a lot of energy there
06:34but Dani just said
06:35wait, wait.
06:35And we also have
06:36Ashley, Momin, Pasio,
06:38Ushka, Ziga
06:39and Laura Deschepa
06:40all riding so strongly
06:41so we wanted to use
06:42those numbers
06:43so try to stay patient
06:45which is not how
06:46I normally ride
06:46but then when I saw
06:47Marlene go
06:48and I was feeling good
06:49Elisa and Antonia
06:51started to drop
06:51and I knew
06:52I was on a good day
06:54so I thought
06:54maybe I'll try too
06:55and then
06:56yeah, I really thought
06:57they were gonna catch me
06:58I know you're not meant
06:59to look back
07:00but I kept looking back
07:01because it just seemed
07:02too good to be true.
07:03Thank you so much.
07:04Yeah, thank you.
07:05Marlene, back in peak.
07:07How does it feel?
07:08Super nice.
07:09I'm really happy.
07:10I really like it.
07:12Looking at today's stage
07:13we have seen
07:14the head-to-head
07:14with Elisa Longoborghini
07:16I mean
07:16a similar head-to-head
07:17that you have in the GC
07:18what do you think about?
07:21Yeah, it's nice.
07:21I think it was exciting
07:22to watch
07:23I hope at least
07:24we made a nice race
07:26and yeah
07:28I think it's nice
07:28to have this battle
07:30we were not sure
07:32how it goes today
07:33and what is possible
07:35in this climb
07:35it's not such a steep climb
07:37it's not crazy long
07:38so we were like
07:39what's gonna happen
07:40and I think
07:42if it would be more clear
07:44it's less interesting
07:45so it's nice
07:46to have a battle.
07:47Looking at tomorrow
07:48it will be an important stage
07:50I think in two ways
07:51because you have to recover
07:53a little bit
07:53in order to face
07:54the next important steps
07:56but also
07:57you have to keep
07:57the Magliarosa
07:58so what's your plan?
08:01Yeah, tomorrow
08:01I think it's
08:03mainly a tricky final
08:05just because of the roads
08:07and the corners
08:08I expect it to be a sprint
08:10but like
08:11a dangerous one
08:12so I think it's more a day
08:13where you should not lose
08:15the GC
08:16and where you're not
08:18you're not gonna win it there
08:19but you should not lose it there
08:21so we will be very focused
08:23and try to keep it safe
08:24and I hope everybody tries
08:26to keep it safe
08:26I hope the whole paleton
08:28has this goal
08:29and then yeah
08:30I think
08:30the last three stages
08:32is gonna be the interesting
08:33one in terms of the GC
08:34for sure
08:35how are the legs?
08:36how do you feel now?
08:38yeah, okay
08:38perfect
08:39thank you
