Liam Keen and Nathan Judah return to examine Wolves' defeat to FA Cup holders Crystal Palace. Who will make the boys' ups and downs list this week?
Transcript
00:00So the good and the bad and the ugly.
00:01We've got two up for you this week.
00:02We've got four down.
00:04You can understand why the downs are outweighing the ups.
00:07So let's go with one of the players who has been on the up list more often than not.
00:11He's been a magnificent signing.
00:13He's had a couple of poor games, but I think both of us agree, Liam.
00:16It was his poorest night or poorest day, poorest 90 minutes for a long time.
00:20And that was despite him getting on the score sheet.
00:24It all looked so good, didn't it?
00:25When Emmanuel Agvedou opened the scoring and you just think,
00:28OK, they've weathered a little bit of the early storm.
00:30They've got ahead.
00:31This could be another excellent night.
00:34But after that, my goodness, he had a poor night, gave the ball away, lost his man.
00:40Obviously, Wolves conceded four goals.
00:42But yeah, just a lot of uncharacteristic errors for Agvedou.
00:45And something that he'll need to clean up in his game.
00:47Yeah, absolutely.
00:49He's been a revelation since Wolves signed him in January.
00:52He's been absolutely fantastic.
00:54He's been up on this show for the vast majority of these last few weeks.
00:58He's had a couple of downs.
00:59And on those downs, we've been, for the most part, it's been a comparison to his standards that he's set and how good he's been.
01:07On this occasion, it's an objectively poor performance from Agvedou.
01:11His worst, I think, in a Wolves shirt, probably by some distance.
01:15And it was a shame because he did open the scoring.
01:18He did get his first Wolves goal since arriving from France.
01:22And following that, he played a massive part in Wolves losing this game.
01:27Gets an early booking.
01:28I mean, he isn't helped by Rodrigo Gomez's throw-in, of course.
01:30No.
01:31And it gets an early booking, which is not a great start.
01:35And I think the first goal may be not quite necessarily involved.
01:40But the second goal gives the ball away.
01:42Munoz wins the header.
01:43He tries a cross-field ball and gives it away.
01:46Again, it's a poor decision.
01:49For the third goal, he is the player that the ball hits in the wall.
01:53Maybe slightly unlucky, but still, he's involved.
01:57And the final one, he tries to carry the ball out when Wolves are at 3-2,
02:00trying to get back into the game, carried out defence and loses it cheaply.
02:04And Palace and Eze break forward and the rest is history.
02:07So he played a massive part in Palace winning the game and Wolves losing it,
02:11which is a shame for a player of his quality, of the influence he has had on this team.
02:15And how good he's been.
02:18But you have to objectively look at it and say,
02:20this was a really, really poor performance for Agamadou.
02:24Do we need to...
02:25I mean, I think we'll give him a pass.
02:26But at the same time, Vito Burrow talked about players coming into his set-up.
02:31And he talked about players who will need more time.
02:34We'll talk about maybe some younger defenders in a little bit,
02:36and maybe in the second half of the show.
02:37But he's coming, and it is still his first Premier League season.
02:42He is going to make errors.
02:43He is going to make mistakes.
02:44He's going to have four games.
02:45You know, these are...
02:46He's facing some of the best attackers in the world.
02:48So you can understand that to a certain extent.
02:50At the same level, I'm playing devil's advocate.
02:54Pereira said that he brought him in because he is older,
02:56because he can come straight into the start-up,
02:58because he is ready.
02:59He's a seasoned professional.
03:01And you expect more.
03:03I think he'll be hurting as well.
03:05But I do feel that there's certain players who I'm a little bit nervy about next season,
03:11whether they should be in this side, whether they should be in the squad,
03:12whether they should be at this football club.
03:14Emmanuel Agbadoo, for me, is still one of the first names on the team sheet.
03:18And, you know, potential, potentially, if Nelson Samadis goes,
03:22will be one of those players, I'm sure, who will look to be able to maybe captain this side.
03:26So I still think they've got a fantastic signing.
03:28And I don't want to be too down on him because, you know,
03:30he has been an excellent, excellent acquisition.
03:34Yeah, well, I don't think you can be too harsh on him
03:37because his overall impact on this team has played a massive role
03:41in Wolves staying in the Premier League, in my opinion.
03:43I think of all the players that arrived at the club,
03:46he's made the biggest impact.
03:47Of all of the players since Vitor arrived,
03:50he's played one of the biggest roles in keeping Wolves up
03:54and avoiding relegation.
03:55So I don't think you can be too critical,
03:58but equally, we've got to look at it objectively
04:00and say that against Palace, he played a big role in Wolves losing the game.
04:04It's as simple as that.
04:05And without those mistakes and without maybe a little bit,
04:08because he is very calm, he's very cool, calm and collected
04:12and maybe too calm at times.
04:14And I think he just overplayed the ball on too many occasions,
04:17maybe tried to be a bit too clever with some of the passes.
04:19And Palace are a team that just are so aggressive
04:22and so difficult to play against.
04:23And I think it was the wrong side for that kind of attitude, really, to the game.
