00:00And there are a lot of commonalities.

00:07It's just quickly because it's 20 minutes.

00:11You know, you're battling lupus.

00:13Yes, po.

00:14What does it make you as a young woman?

00:17When I was diagnosed with lupus, I was 16 years old.

00:20And I didn't know what happened to my body.

00:23I was facing joint pains, hair loss, uneven skin tone.

00:28I was so fatigued because of stress.

00:31And I didn't know what it was.

00:33I went to the doctor and said, oh, you have lupus.

00:35And at the time, I didn't understand.

00:39Because at the time, they also said, it's not curable.

00:42It's not a curable disease.

00:44It's not curable.

00:45Yes.

00:46But what you can do is just make sure that you take care of your health.

00:49Exercise.

00:50Make sure to not eat inflammatory foods.

00:52And try to stay out of the sun and don't be stressed.

00:55Okay.

00:56There's a lot to go through.

00:58Because as I get older, of course, I can't escape stress.

01:01I can't escape going under the sun.

01:03And I'm the type of person who really hurts me every day.

01:05Right?

01:06I love the beach.

01:07I love going outside.

01:08So it's a matter of really making sure that I take the steps that will keep me healthy.

01:13And I believe that it's an illness that doesn't define who I am.

01:17Right.

01:18Because when I tell people lupus, oh, are you okay?

01:21Like, what do you do now?

01:22Like, are you taking medicines?

01:24That's why I didn't want to talk about it before.

01:27Because I didn't want people to attach that sickness to me or that disease to me.

01:32Because I'm not just someone who has lupus.

01:34I'm someone who's athletic.

01:35I'm someone who's a beauty queen.

01:37I'm a singer.

01:38I dance a lot.

01:39I exercise a lot.

01:40I do a lot of the things that people who think lupus can't do.

01:43But that also realizing that by talking about it, ang dami mong natutulungan.

01:46Yes.

01:47Diba?

01:48Kailangan malusog ka.

01:49From lupus, you know, you were bullied.

01:51Growing up.

01:52As in, talagang intense, extreme bullying.

01:55Yeah.

01:56Like, physical, emotional, psychological bullying.

01:59I remember back in the days that pa-uwi akong bahay na tinatapunan ako ng bato

02:03na sometimes I would go home bleeding pa.

02:05And then I would see my grandma.

02:06And of course, you tell me the same thing that never give them back the same pain.

02:09So, all throughout my life, I went through so much pain that at least at a very young age,

02:13I realized that if I'm going through pain, might as well get something from it.

02:17So, that's when I transformed pain talaga into power tito.

02:20There's no option.

02:21I mean, I keep saying, if you hit the rock bottom, there's only one way to go

02:24and it's going up.

02:25So, basically, I used that pain and turned into the woman that I am right now.
