00:00Karsten Boyer-Togeson is Denmark's former Consul General to Shanghai.
00:05The objective is to continue the long cooperation between Denmark and China.
00:15Here we have to remember that actually Denmark was the very first Western Allied country
00:22to establish diplomatic relations with the Republic of China in 1950.
00:28And so overall, Denmark and China have had 75 years of smooth, continued and unbroken and good cooperation.
00:42And as you said, sir, this is the 75th anniversary, a very important year for Danish-Chinese relations.
00:49And as you've pointed out, there is a very strong history of cooperation in areas such as green technology innovation.
00:55How do you see these areas evolving as priorities during this physics?
00:59And what could China do to enlarge cooperation with Denmark and Europe more broadly?
01:05There are a number of specific projects.
01:09And we, in Denmark actually, we have been doing environmental technology, in particular within windmills,
01:23but also in other areas for decades.
01:28And actually, Denmark was the very first country in the world to establish a ministry for the environment back in the 1970s.
01:39So we bring to the table a long history of doing environmental technology.
01:48And, of course, over the last 20 years, China has developed very much within green technology.
01:57So there is a solid background in Denmark and in China as well for expand cooperation within green technology.
02:06And given the complex global geopolitical environments at the moment,
02:10how important is it for Denmark to maintain a balanced and constructive relationship with both China and the United States?
02:18It's equally important.
02:22But, as I said, international politics have always been important, in particular to a small country like Denmark.
02:32I think that you could say that the world seems to be in a new geopolitical phase of transition.
02:42As we know, there are major international trade disputes going on.
02:47There are unresolved wars and crises in Europe and the Middle East and much more.
02:52And, therefore, I see this particular visit to China by the Danish foreign minister on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Denmark and China.
03:07I see this as a very good opportunity to further develop cooperation between Denmark and China.
03:14We have many tasks ahead, and then we also have the 75 years of good cooperation to build on.
03:25And that's what I think makes this visit by the Danish foreign minister to China a particular visit at a particular important time.
