00:17city and of course as we said it was headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between mike

00:23the marine richmond and josh d-day dyer and of course dyer last four in august of 2024

00:28a first round ko of william albrecht before that he had no contest fights against jared warren and

00:33joe riggs of course jared warren that one was a rematch you had the first fight between the two

00:38that dyer had won that was the rematch supposed to be for the vacant title in this division that

00:43unfortunately ended in no contest because of shots to the back of the head that labeled warren unable

00:47to continue but now he was d-day dyer coming back here trying to get his chance at the belt again

00:53this time against mike the marine richmond who was coming off winning that title from jared warren

00:57back in december down there in florida so now he was defending the title for the first time and

01:02we would see if he could hold on to it he was going to be shorter he was going to be you know

01:06not as long in his reach as his opponent but we thought that maybe he could still get that by second

01:12round tko because of the precision punching that we've seen out of him because of that just sniper

01:16like ability from the former marine who could just throw that one punch in the right spot that puts

01:20guys down left and right throughout his career well that's not how it ended up this time because the

01:25one who's going down in this fight was mike marine richmond went down a couple times both in the

01:30second round and later on in the fight he had some some brutal shots taken by him as well

01:35much of the fight was let's say the first round at least was richmond kind of coming forward both

01:41guys a lot of respect a little slower to get going but then the rest of the fight second third fourth

01:46round all those involved the picking apart of the champion josh d-day dyer came in here with a

01:52different game plan a lot of guys when you have a power puncher like marine richmond come in there

01:55and try to put the pressure on him we saw that with jared warren and that uh first title defense

02:00for him that richmond stole the belt during a lot of guys come forward they try to put the pressure

02:04part get him on his back foot thinking that that'll negate his power a little bit and it doesn't work

02:08out for them in this case it was richmond the one coming forward d-day dyer with that longer reach

02:13decided to stay back decided to try to pick his opponent apart from you know distance and he did just

02:17that we've seen a lot of dire bullying guys getting in there roughing them up well apparently

02:21according to him uh just close to the fight someone from the bkfc told him hey we want to

02:26see a clean fight we don't want to see you know just you bully him so decided to completely switch

02:30up his game plan and it worked to perfection for him picked apart his opponent for throughout four

02:36rounds and then in the middle of fourth round after dyer loads a big combo on richmond the blood's

02:40flowing down you get the ref stepping in there and getting the marine checked out by the doc and he

02:46says no more that is it that is the end of the fight the doctor steps in fourth round tko

02:51for the new champion of the light heavyweight division and that is josh d-day dyer you can

02:56see of course afterwards if you go check out some of the social media pictures um or the videos you

03:01like the marine richmond had a huge hematoma over his left eye so you know makes sense for the doctors

03:06to say this was just too much and he could not continue but in the post fight josh dyer was

03:12talking about how he wants to be an inspiration for people you know in their struggles in their fight

03:15as they try to reach their goals as he had it took him a long time to get this title that he wanted

03:19and uh you know he talked a little bit backstage about all those things as he you know reflected

03:25for the first time as the new champion i just want to say this is the scariest thing i ever did in my

03:30life i was scared to do this but i did it the difference between a coward and a brave person

03:35is nothing at all they both feel the same fear the brave person just does something about it

03:40the coward runs away we're all the same to the right it's your choices that make you a winner

03:44i also just want to say no matter who you are no matter what you've done no matter your look size

03:54skills age or anything you're worthwhile and nobody can ever take that away from you

03:58so great reflection there by the new champion but you know right after the fight of course you get there

04:02and you get the interview in the ring and a lot of times it's going to be who do you want to fight

04:07next of course a lot of people are going to think of a guy like lorenzo hunt who's now out injured

04:10after uh you know he was unable to fight in his fight against chris camozzi at 205 some people are

04:15obviously going to bring up a trilogy with jared warren which we'll talk to him about uh coming up

04:19next but there was a different fighter on the mind of the champion when he was interviewed

04:23i checked my instagram account last night and none other than mike perry in my instagram box saying

04:30dyer i hope you win so i can punch your little face for the belt i want to say this perry
