00:06into alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Libya, the court told the UN Security
00:11Council on Thursday. The Mediterranean country lived through a brutal civil war from 2014-2020
00:18and has been fragile ever since. This progress reflects the office's ongoing commitment
00:24to delivering on its mandate under challenging circumstances. In this endeavor to fight
00:30impunity, it is crucial for all states to fulfill their obligations under the Rome Statute
00:36and in accordance with Security Council Resolution 1970 from 2011. This includes arresting and
00:43transferring to the ICC individuals who are the subject of arrest warrants. Lastly, we reaffirm
00:50our steadfast and unwavering support for the court as an independent and impartial judicial
00:56institution.
00:58Earlier this week, the Libyan government accepted the ICC's jurisdiction over alleged crimes committed
01:03in its territory. The court now hopes that this will facilitate the investigations into potential
01:09crimes committed since 2011.
