00:00Let's say if you have a spreadsheet calculating your employees weekly salary
00:04and the weekly salary is calculated based on each individuals hourly rate
00:09like this as you can see which is row number one and you want to keep your
00:13row number one confidential because you don't want people look at it and you
00:17want to hide it well there's four ways to hide a row the first way would be to
00:21basically hide it you select the row that you want to hide let's say row
00:26number one and press ctrl 9 which actually hides your very first row that's
00:31method number one method number two is essentially to change the color of your
00:35font select the row that you want to hide and then you go to your font color and
00:40basically change it to white and that will remove its visibility the third way
00:44would be to use custom number formatting so basically highlight the data that you
00:49want to hide press ctrl 1 which opens up format cells here and in here click on
00:55custom and replace this word general with three semicolon like this and click ok
01:00and that will hide the hourly rate for you I'm gonna undo here and the final way
01:05would be to use grouping you select any cell on that row that you want to hide
01:09then you press shift space to highlight the whole row and you're gonna hold
01:14alternate shift and a right arrow key on your keyboard this open up the grouping and
01:19basically just hide it like that after using any of this technique to hide the
01:24role you can then proceed to applying worksheet protection which I've
01:27explained in another video you can find the link to that video in the
