00:00The goal at that point was to finish the match, to continue doing what we were doing and just
00:29to get through it.
00:30The second that match is over I'm on the floor just holding on to my leg and it took every
00:34bit of what I had in me to make it through the end of the match.
00:43We are new, we are interactive and oh yes, we are live.
00:47Welcome everybody to our brand new Saturday Night Live show right here on TNN.
00:51This is WWF Excess, settle in for the next two hours, enjoy and please welcome the lovely,
00:56the beautiful, the very talented Trish Stratus.
00:59I am humbly standing next to her, the coach.
01:01I tell you what, I am so excited, each and every Saturday night we are going to be live
01:04right here on TNN.
01:05Each and every Saturday night, so technically coach you have worked your way into my date
01:09books every Saturday night.
01:10I had to try something.
01:11It worked.
01:12I mean nothing else was working.
01:13You know I had to try something.
01:14So we are going to be here each and every Saturday night live and this is a special
01:16night.
01:17Not only Trish because it's our debut here on TNN for Excess, but because of our very
01:20first guest in studio will be none other than Triple H, The Game.
01:24He's warming up right now in the green room and I tell you what, we haven't seen or heard
01:28from Triple H in over three months, so tonight is very exciting and I know I'm very interested
01:32as you are too for different reasons, but what Triple H has to say on several different
01:36topics tonight.
01:37Well why would I have different reasons to be interested, huh?
01:39Well I think everybody out there realizes your history with married men in the McMahon
01:44family.
01:45Yes, that's a story we'll save for another day.
01:47Of course, I know a ton of people out there are going to have questions for Triple H,
01:50so call and ask him yourself.
01:52Call 1-888-LIVE-WWF or you can email us as well at WWFExcess at WWF.com.
02:00People are very, very interested, but enough of the formalities, it's time to get started
02:03with the show.
02:04We've got so much to do and only two hours to do it in.
02:08Of course, we're coming off SummerSlam last Sunday live on pay-per-view.
02:11The anticipation was absolutely unbelievable.
02:13Right, The Rock's return to pay-per-view.
02:15That it was.
02:16And The Rock was going after the WCW and, excuse me, the WWF title was on the line at
02:20the same event.
02:21Of course, all eyes were on Kurt Angle.
02:23He was going after the WWF title against Stone Cold Steve Austin, but the Rattlesnake had
02:26other ideas.
02:27That's right.
02:28At SummerSlam.
02:29That's Kurt Angle.
02:30We're going to be live right here on Excess a little bit later on, on the show, and we'll
02:33get the words from the horse's mouth per se, but right now we're going to waste no more
02:36time.
02:37We're going to take a quick break.
02:38When we come back, give us a call, give us an email, because Triple H's The Game will
02:40be here, and he's going to be here next.
02:51Welcome back, everybody, to WWF Excess.
02:58We're going to be live here each and every Saturday night on TNN, and so much to get
03:02to, and tonight we're not only celebrating our debut of Excess, we have a very special
03:06guest.
03:07Triple H is standing by, and of course, Triple H coming off that devastating injury three
03:09months ago, and Trish, I know you've been out of action for a little bit, though, with
03:12an injury of your own.
03:13Yes.
03:14I just came out of surgery, and I'm recovering.
03:15I'm starting to walk, and soon I'll be doing my stride of strut again.
03:19You're looking finer than ever.
03:20Well, thank you.
03:22But before we bring out Triple H, let's take a look at how that injury did happen.
03:25Okay.
03:34To be honest, when it first happened, I don't know what the hell happened to me.
03:38It felt like I'd been shot in the thigh.
03:40Really strong sensation here of a pop, and it felt like electricity went up my leg, and
03:46I guess that was it tearing.
03:47I knew I had seriously messed something up.
03:50Basically, what I did is I completely tore my quadriceps, the front of my thigh, away
03:58from its insertion.
04:01How did this happen?
04:03I was in the ring.
04:04I went to hit a guy from behind.
04:05I planted my leg as I hit him, and it just popped.
04:08It just popped.
04:09I went down.
04:10I couldn't really stand by.
04:11I finished the match, another five minutes or so, and then...
04:15Finished the match?
04:17Yeah.
04:18It probably wasn't the smartest thing in the world to do, but yeah, I finished the match,
04:21and then I went right for the ring, right to get the MRI done.
04:24I knew something was seriously wrong.
04:27My goal at that point was to finish the match, to continue doing what we were doing, and
04:31just to get through it.
04:34Oh, my God!
04:36Jericho's got the Laws of Jericho on the D!
04:39Jericho's got the Laws of Jericho on the D!
04:47The Laws of Jericho felt like the longest thing I'd ever done in my life.
04:52Everyone put me in it, and as I was turning over in it, thinking, this is going to be
04:56brutal.
04:58Now, if you look at the match back, the second that match is over, I'm on the floor just
05:03holding onto my leg.
05:05It took every bit of what I had in me to make it through the end of the match, and once
05:09I did, I was done.
05:12I'm incredibly nervous.
05:14It's a pretty major surgery, reattaching all those muscles to the knee, and I'm sure he'll
05:21be fine, but, yeah, I'm nervous.
05:29Is this anything like you expected?
05:31I didn't know what to expect.
05:35It was a pretty severe quadriceps rupture, and it was sort of tricky because when you
05:41open the skin looking for the defect, the top part of the quadriceps was still intact,
05:47but the main part was torn out underneath, and so it was real hard to try to identify
05:51what had happened.
05:52It was quite amazing once you saw how this was torn, and it could have easily been missed.
05:57With looking in, opening the skin up, we thought we'd see a big hole or defect, and we had
06:02to go underneath to really find the tear, so we're glad we were able to identify it.
06:07We had good tissue, and we got a good, strong repair, put it right back to the kneecap with
06:11big, heavy sutures.
06:16The first hurdle, of course, is the first week for the skin and soft tissues to begin
06:21to heal, first week to two weeks, and then maximum protection phase is about four weeks,
06:27and then he'll reach fairly good healing with tensile properties at four months, so we'll
06:34see how he does, and got a lot of work in front of him now. My work's basically over,
06:38so I'll turn it over to the patient and to Kevin Wilk and the rehab specialist.
06:43I think the first thing I'm going to say to Triple H is that it's over, and now he's just
06:47going to get better.
06:50Well, how is he feeling? Well, we're about to find out. We haven't seen him in over three
06:53months. He is one of the biggest superstars in the history of the business, and he joins
06:57us here tonight live. He is the game. He is Triple H.
07:02It's time to play the game.
07:09Time to play the game.
07:25It's all about the game, and how you play it.
07:28How are you doing? Long time no see.
07:32As enticing as you are. Last time I hugged you, it turned into a go behind. I got a lamp
07:40thrown at my head to hold you. I'm settled for a handshake. How's that?
07:44Great to see you.
07:45How are you doing?
07:46Great. I'm doing fantastic. Great to see you. Great to have you here. Well, first of all,
07:49I think the whole world wants to know, as we've said many times at the top of the show,
07:52it's been three months, May 21st. How's the physical therapy going, and how are you feeling?
07:58It's going. It's great for me to be back here, just to be able to walk out, hear my music,
08:06get that buzz going again. It's an incredible thing. Just to actually be let out of my seemingly
08:13work release program type deal I got going on in Birmingham, Alabama, where I rehab.
08:18I'm there basically eight, nine hours a day, every single day of the week. It's just a
08:25lot of rehab, and it's a brutal program. It's going to allow me to come back faster than
08:32they expected. It's all worth it.
08:36Tell me, when this actually happened, you knew you were in for something. What were
08:40you thinking when it happened?
08:43The second it happened, at first I didn't know what happened. As you heard me say earlier,
08:48I thought I'd get shot in the leg or something. I didn't know, but as soon as I had a second
08:53to think about it, I realized that I'd torn my quad. I just had that popping sensation
08:57at the bottom, and the heat or electricity feeling was my muscle rolling up into my leg.
09:04I've been in this business, and I've been around injuries long enough to know what that
09:08means. A torn quad is not a good thing. You're looking at somewhere between six months and
09:15ten months to a year. It's a long time. It's a serious injury. They had to do a lot of
09:21reconstruction in there and drill holes in my kneecap and sutures through there and attach
09:26it to my quad. It's a big deal, but it's coming along great. It's been a little over three
09:33months now, and it's probably another three. I'll be back better than ever.
09:38Fantastic. We saw the surgery. You talked about everything. Let's go ahead and take
09:41a look, if we could, at the actual scar on your knee. It's about 12 inches long. Wow.
09:47Take a look at that right there.
09:50I know you, and you're a little bit of an exaggerator, but that, my friend, is not 12
09:56inches long. To you, maybe that's 12 inches long. You might tell people that's 12 inches,
10:02but realistically, Trish, you know that's not 12 inches.
10:06Well, let's see what Craig in Florida has to ask. He wants to ask you a question. Let's
10:10see what he has to say.
10:11Hey, Trish.
10:12Hey.
10:13Coach, how are you?
10:14What's up? How are you?
10:15Coach, you got the best game in town right there, and you got the best Saturday night
10:18date anybody could ask for.
10:19I'm not. What are you doing?
10:21Hey, I'm doing pretty good.
10:22The game is on the show. You're talking to Coach and Trish like I'm not even here.
10:25You must have a half screen.
10:26I've not been on for three months. I'm begging you, work with me here, pal.
10:31Hey, a quick question for you.
10:33If this is about her boobs, I'm killing you.
10:37No, no, nothing about those. I think those are self-explanatory. Hey, you know, with
10:42your wife purchasing the ECW and the Alliance thing going on and the wind beneath the Austins'
10:49ring, where are you figuring all this when you get back?
10:52Where do I figure in it when I get back? The funny thing is, when I get back, we'll have
10:57to see where everything lies. But when I get back, I'm going to figure into the picture
11:02the same way I always figured into it, is I'm going to be standing on one side of the
11:05ring, and somebody else is going to be standing on the other side of the ring. And to me,
11:08it's not going to matter what color shirt they're wearing. It's not going to matter
11:12which Alliance or Federation they're in. It's not going to matter if they drink milk, guzzle
11:16beer, raise an eyebrow. I don't care who they are. They're all going to have to step into
11:21the ring with a game. And I know, when I come back, I've got to prove myself all over again.
11:25You know what I mean? You start out at ground zero, I'm not looking to be thrown into something
11:30to the top. I'll do my thing, and I will prove exactly like I did before. I will go through
11:35everybody until I am the best.
11:36Well, Triple H, I tell you, we had 4,000 emails just in the last hour for you. We've got plenty
11:41more to come. I know you're going to stick around for a while. If you want to talk to
11:44Triple H, give us a call, give us an email. He'll be here for a while. He's the Gamer
11:47coming back right after this.
12:01And there's Triple H!
12:03The goal at that point was to finish the match, to continue doing what we were doing, and
12:07just to get through it. The second that match is over, I'm on the floor just holding onto
12:13my leg. It took every bit of what I had in me to make it through the end of the match.
12:22Welcome back, everybody, to XS. Trish Stratus, I'm the coach. Very pleased to be joined tonight
12:26by the one and only Triple H of the game. If you have a question or email, give us a
12:29call, or email your questions to Triple H. We'll try to get to each and every one, or
12:32as many as we can get to. But when you watch that footage, Triple H, what goes through
12:35your mind when you watch it back? I don't know how many times you've watched it in the
12:38last three months.
12:39I've seen it a few times. You know, it's a weird thing because the type of injury that
12:44I had was a massive injury, but when you watch the footage, it really doesn't look like that.
12:50You know, it's not like a Joe Theismann or Sid Vicious breaking his leg, you know.
12:54This was, you know, it looked like an everyday part of an everyday match. You know, I just
12:59planted my leg and went down. So watching it back really doesn't...
13:04I think once we know what happened, and then we watch it back, that's quite amazing.
13:07Yeah, actually the walls of Jericho was probably the worst part to watch.
13:11I can't believe it either.
13:13You know, so many things have happened since you left, and even before you left, and you're
13:16very close, obviously, you're part of the McMahon family. I want to go back to March
13:2026th, and Vince McMahon was on top of the world, but his world, it came crashing down
13:26in a hurry.
13:27...acquired WCW.
13:30That's right, I bought my competition.
13:33There's only one small caveat on time, Wrestlemania.
13:36What is the fate of WCW?
13:39The very fate of WCW is in my hands.
13:46You have to grab your competition by the throat, and you've got to squeeze the life out of
13:51your competition, just like I did to WCW.
13:55WCW, just like I'm going to do to my son Shane.
13:59Surprise dad!
14:07Dwayne McMahon.
14:09I now own WCW.
14:13And then, just like WCW kicked your ass in the past, that's exactly what's going to
14:19happen to you at Wrestlemania.
14:22Well, I think the look on Vince's face says it all.
14:26I mean, that's your brother-in-law there. Did you have any idea what he's up to?
14:29Nah, you know what, I really didn't know anything about it, but, I mean, you know,
14:33what a night, right?
14:34That was unbelievable.
14:35Anybody in their lifetime think that they would be, you know, sitting at Raw,
14:39watching Nitro on the exact same show, and having it be one, you know, one show.
14:46I mean, it was just an incredible, mind-blowing night, and I think it blew Vince's
14:50mind most of all.
14:51Well, you're a guy that's obviously been in the WCW in the past.
14:53Talk about the experiences that the guys were going through then, but now they're,
14:57you know, Shane McMahon brings them in, and they've got to be treated a lot better.
15:01Talk about your experiences in the WCW.
15:02Well, you know, here's the thing about WCW, you're down there, it's miserable,
15:07you're being held down, you know, there's all these old dinosaurs at the top that
15:11won't let the young guys move up, and no matter how much talent you have, it
15:15didn't matter.
15:17And that makes for a very dangerous thing right now, because what you've got is
15:20you've got a bunch of guys that are so hungry that they will do anything to get
15:26what the WWF has, and that is to be on top, to have all the fans, to have all the
15:31fame, to have all the glory, to have all the money.
15:33And that's exactly what those guys want now.
15:35That's a very dangerous group.
15:37That's right.
15:38Well, let's go back to the phones.
15:39Michael from Baltimore, you're on with Triple H, make it good.
15:41Hey, Triple H, how you doing, man?
15:43I'm doing all right, man, how are you?
15:44It's good to see you back on TV.
15:45It's good to be back.
15:46I had a question for you, but they want to censor it.
15:48It's probably a question everybody wants to know the answer to.
15:50Are you going to be big enough to let me ask it?
15:53Go right ahead.
15:54All right, I'm live.
15:55What are they going to do?
15:56I want to know, well, they told me to change my question.
15:58Well, go ahead and ask it.
15:59We'll see.
16:00My question is, have you talked to Kevin Nash lately?
16:02And if you have, have you had any comments about some of the other wrestlers
16:06from WCW, like Scott Steiner himself, Kevin Nash, any of them coming over?
16:11And if he has said anything, what would be your opinion about those guys coming in?
16:15You know, yeah, have I talked to Kevin Nash?
16:18Sure.
16:19He's a good friend of mine.
16:20You know, there's a lot of things in this business that sometimes draw lines
16:24in the sand, and you can't go here, you can't go here, you can't talk to this
16:27guy, you can't talk to that guy.
16:29But in my personal life, sure, I'm very good friends with Kevin Nash.
16:33I talk to him all the time.
16:34And, you know, what he's doing right now, he's sitting back,
16:38biding his time.
16:39Will he come into the fold?
16:41Time will tell.
16:42Some of those guys are still under deals.
16:44Some of those guys are still under deals from their existing stuff down there.
16:50In my opinion, would I like to see it eventually?
16:53Sure.
16:54I'd like to see all those guys, because here's the deal.
16:57I come back three months, five months, whatever it is, I'm going to get in the
17:01ring with everybody in this business sooner or later.
17:04And I don't care who it is, and I don't even care if it's Kevin Nash.
17:07He might be my friend, but on the other side of the ring from me,
17:10he's just an opponent.
17:11I will go through every single person until I am what I was when I left.
17:15And that is the best there is.
17:16I will be the gang.
17:17And it's not going to matter who I have to go through to do it.
17:20Friend or foe, it doesn't matter to me.
17:22And that goes for every single person that's ever been in this business.
17:25Well, you bring up a very good point.
17:26Another good point is we are live each and every Saturday night.
17:29When we talk about the WCW, I want to talk about the ECW now.
17:31It was just last month where the WCW met up with the ECW with a very
17:35concerted effort to take down, once again, Vince McMahon,
17:38the chairman of the World Wrestling Federation.
17:40I am personally responsible for the merger of Heyman and Shane McMahon
17:45on the same damn page.
17:47Howard, you can give it to us, Vince, for an invasion.
17:53We can take it away from you.
17:57The new owner of ECW, give it up for Vince's daughter,
18:03Stephanie McMahon.
18:05How's that?
18:06Together, WCW and ECW will run you and the WWF out of business forever.
18:16The future of the World Wrestling Federation hangs in the balance
18:20against the most serious invasion in the history of sports entertainment.
18:25The WWF, again, has been decimated by the coalition.
18:30Can the WWF survive this invasion?
18:34This new entity, WCW and ECW, is going to kick the WWF ass.
18:44Well, it seems with your wife's business-savvy move there,
18:48she's actually created quite an interesting environment for you
18:51to come back to.
18:52I mean, new talent, new challenges, perhaps new agendas.
18:55You know, it's funny, Vince had the exact same look on his face
18:58that he had with Shane.
19:00You'd think he would have learned, right?
19:02The thing with him, he raised them, he should know the way they are.
19:07You know what I mean?
19:08And they're doing exactly what he did.
19:10Years ago, Vince went in, he raided the territories,
19:12he took their talent, he invaded them, he shut them down,
19:15he did all those things until he became the number one.
19:18Until he became the only one, really.
19:19You know what I mean?
19:20And that's exactly what they're trying to do to him.
19:22Family business.
19:23That's right.
19:24Of course, you've been married for a little bit less than a couple years now.
19:26And of course, you broke up the impending engagement
19:28with Tessa and Stephanie.
19:29We've got an email now regarding Stephanie and Tessa.
19:33They want to know what are your feelings on the fact
19:35that Tessa and Stephanie are starting to get along again.
19:38Yeah, that's good.
19:39You know what I mean?
19:41They're adults, and I think they should get along fine.
19:47Especially since she's his boss.
19:50And the one thing he has to remember is that she will always be his boss.
19:54And he had better be nice to her.
19:57Because one, he'll get fired.
19:58And two, because I'll come back.
20:00You know, it's funny you should mention getting along.
20:02And a few seconds ago, you mentioned looks on their faces.
20:05I heard what you said when you came out a little bit early on with Trish.
20:08And if you can move to the side.
20:09If we can go right back here and take a look.
20:11I've got a little surprise.
20:12There we go.
20:14You're talking about what can happen, different awkward situations.
20:18And this is one that was particularly entertaining for me.
20:22There's nothing wrong with that.
20:23I'm showing her a hammerlock.
20:25That's a hammerlock.
20:26You wouldn't know you've never been in the ring.
20:28No.
20:29But that is a hammerlock.
20:30It's a legitimate wrestling move.
20:31I've actually used that move in the ring several times already.
20:33I'm the one that showed it to you.
20:34Thank you very much.
20:35How many times have you had to look at that face at home with that look on it?
20:38Quite a few.
20:39Hey, Trish Stratus has successfully won many a match with that very hold that I showed her.
20:44Yes, I thank you forever.
20:46See?
20:47That's the way it is.
20:48And I know what you're doing, coach.
20:49You know what I mean?
20:50You're trying to start stuff.
20:51No, no.
20:52I got one leg here.
20:53Oh, I see.
20:54But I'm more than enough.
20:55Well, I know.
20:56To take you down.
20:57You know what I'm saying?
20:58Are you more than enough to take down Stone Cold Steve Austin?
20:59I'm going to ask you that question.
21:00We've got to take a quick break.
21:01More with Triple H.
21:02We're going to talk about Stone Cold Steve Austin, the WWF Champion, who is now defected
21:06to the Alliance.
21:07What are Triple H's thoughts on Stone Cold?
21:09We'll find out when we come back.
21:11This is XS.
21:12We're live.
21:13And this is TNN.
21:18The attitude.
21:19The excitement.
21:20Nothing beats the experience of the WWF live.
21:23Tomorrow night, we invade the Expo Center in Fort Wayne.
21:26Monday night, it's Roy is worn from the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids.
21:30And Tuesday night, we will rock the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.
21:33There's nothing like the WWF live.
21:41This portion of WWF XS is brought to you by PlayStation 2.
21:45And by M&M's.
21:46The milk chocolate melts in your mouth, not in your hand.
21:49And by Lug's boots and shoes.
21:50Tough enough to handle anything.
21:52Stone Cold Steve Austin defecting and not only going to the Alliance,
21:56but taking the WWF title with him.
21:58You know, it's an amazing thing.
22:00WrestleMania, Stone Cold Steve Austin sold his soul to Vince McMahon
22:05to get back the World Wrestling Federation Championship.
22:09And then, not that long later, Steve Austin sold his soul to the Alliance
22:15to get some praise, to feed his massive ego,
22:18to get a group of people around him that would just literally
22:21sing the praises of Stone Cold Steve Austin.
22:24Literally.
22:25He has an ego that needs to be fed.
22:27And that's exactly what Stone Cold Steve Austin is doing right now,
22:30is feeding a starving ego.
22:32Sure.
22:33Well, you know, you led an invasion of your own at one point, didn't you,
22:36to WCW?
22:37Yeah, so I did.
22:39What about that?
22:41Well, I mean, that was at a time when, and here it is right here.
22:45Classic moments.
22:46See, now that's more than 12 inches right there.
22:49That's a cannon, pally.
22:51Take a peek at that.
22:53Well, it's very close to me as well.
22:55Here's the deal.
22:56That's at a time when you didn't even mention that there was another
22:59wrestling organization on television.
23:01Right.
23:02And yet, we had the guts to drive right to their front door
23:05at the Norfolk Scope, park a jeep with a cannon out front,
23:09get on a megaphone, call them out, fire blanks at the building.
23:13I mean, we just made a complete, you know,
23:15fiasco of the whole thing, you know?
23:17And I mean, it's like this caller before asking me if he can ask me
23:20anything he wants on TV.
23:21I'm the guy that does what I want when I want to do it,
23:24you know what I mean?
23:25And that's proof right there.
23:26You can call and ask me anything you want.
23:28It doesn't matter to me.
23:29Well, this has obviously got to be a highlight for you,
23:31but we had an e-mail from home, and they want to know,
23:33what's the greatest moment in your WWF, WCW,
23:35just your sports entertainment career in general.
23:37What would be the highlight for you?
23:39Highlight?
23:41You know, quite a few things in my career that I would consider
23:44highlights, you know?
23:46Anytime being at a WrestleMania, you know,
23:49WrestleMania this year with Motorhead playing me to the ring,
23:52you know, that's a highlight.
23:53But if I've got to pick anything, I'd have to say it's retiring
23:57Mick Foley, you know?
23:59As harsh as that sounds, Mick Foley is, you know,
24:02one of the greatest legends of our business of all time,
24:05an icon, and the contributions that Mick Foley has made
24:09to this business are legendary.
24:11And for me to be the guy that was able to finish him off,
24:15you know what I mean?
24:16As sadistic as that sounds, to be the guy that was able to put
24:19him out for good and finish him off after all the guys he had
24:22gone through and they couldn't get the job done,
24:24I was the guy to do it, that's an accomplishment.
24:26And to be a part of that and to be involved with Mick Foley
24:29in his retirement match, that's probably a highlight for me.
24:33Well, you know, you've been a WWF champion many times over,
24:36and you've mentioned several times how important it is to you.
24:39Exactly, if you can explain to the audience at home how
24:42important in this business it is not only to become the WWF
24:45champion, but how important it is for you to be the WWF champion.
24:49See, here's the deal.
24:50If you're in this business, and I don't care in what facet,
24:54there's one goal that you have to have,
24:56otherwise you're in the wrong business,
24:58and that is to be the World Wrestling Federation champion.
25:00At some point in your career, very few will ever get there,
25:03but it is the number one thing that you can do in this business,
25:06the biggest accomplishment that you can have.
25:09So for me, it means everything.
25:12To be able to come back and step in the ring and challenge
25:16and become World Wrestling Federation champion again,
25:19that is my number one goal.
25:21But if you want to know what the World Wrestling Federation
25:25championship means, you've got to look at the people who have
25:28won it, what they've done to get it,
25:30and what it's done to them after they get it.
25:32Because that belt is a pressure cooker.
25:34When you get it, you think you know what it's going to be,
25:36but after you have it, that's when it all comes on.
25:38All the pressure is there.
25:40Some guys can handle it, some guys can't.
25:42I've seen a lot come and go, and I've seen a lot of guys win it,
25:46and it's ruined everything.
25:47It's ruined their careers, it's ruined their personal lives,
25:50it's ruined everything.
25:51It's taken some guys out of the business,
25:53it's made some guys move on to other things.
25:55It ruins a lot of people.
25:57Some guys thrive on it.
25:58I thrived on it.
25:59I loved it.
26:00And that's why I want it again.
26:02I have to have it.
26:03But some guys have to have it, but once they get it,
26:07it eats them up.
26:08Stone Cold Steve Austin is one of those guys.
26:10He has to have that World Wrestling Federation
26:12championship.
26:13But proof now, when he gets it, Steve Austin becomes a paranoid
26:17shell of a man that doesn't trust anybody,
26:20that's constantly looking over his shoulder,
26:22that constantly needs his ego stroked,
26:24and that's going to be his downfall in the long run.
26:26Speaking of Stone Cold Steve Austin,
26:28what are your thoughts on what he said right after
26:30he got injured?
26:31I mean, he wasn't exactly complimentary of you
26:34after he got hurt.
26:35It's very easy to place blame and run your mouth when the
26:39person that you're running your mouth about is not there
26:41to defend himself.
26:42When that person's laid up with his leg in an immobilizer,
26:45getting surgery done, and you know he's thousands of miles
26:49away, it's very easy to run your mouth.
26:51Let's see what happens when the talking stops
26:55and the action starts.
26:56When I get back in that ring, let's see who stops talking
26:58and let's see who gets it done.
27:00Because the reason Stone Cold Steve Austin sold his soul
27:04to Vince McMahon to get that title in the first place
27:06was because he was unsure of himself.
27:08And why was he unsure of himself?
27:10Because the month before, I kicked his ass.
27:13We got plenty more still to come.
27:15Trish, relax.
27:16I know you're standing awful close to Triple H.
27:18I'm slowly getting closer.
27:19Give us an email, give us a call.
27:21Triple H is live right here on XS.
27:23We're coming back live right after this.
27:25Stick around.
27:30What a physical, physical matchup at SummerSlam.
27:32The Rock coming back, winning the WCW title.
27:34After being out four months on a suspension,
27:36how difficult is it, Triple H, for The Rock to come back
27:38and be in that kind of in-ring shape and have that kind
27:40of a matchup at SummerSlam, the biggest event of the summer?
27:43I'll tell you what, I was watching that match
27:45very intently after seeing Rock take that much time off.
27:48He didn't have an injury, but to take that much time off
27:50and to be able to come back in the ring and not show
27:52any rust, that was pretty impressive to me.
27:54You know, I watched that with a lot of interest
27:56because I'm going to make a similar comeback, you know.
27:58And, you know, again, Rock proved what he's proved a lot,
28:01and that's he's one of the greatest of all time
28:03in this business, the most electrifying man, right?
28:05The great one.
28:06Not the game, but, you know, I got to take my hat off
28:08to The Rock, but I also got to take my hat off
28:10to Booker T.
28:11You know, I'm a, I got the game name,
28:13but I got to take my hat off to Booker T.
28:15You know, I'm a, I got the game name,
28:17but I got to take my hat off to Booker T.
28:19You know, I'm a, I got the game name
28:21because I was the ultimate student of the game,
28:23and by doing that, I watched everybody.
28:25I mean, I just didn't watch the guys
28:27that were in the WWF.
28:29I watched tapes of everybody, and Booker T
28:31was a guy that I watched a lot, and I saw
28:33what he was doing when he was in WCW
28:35and his rise there.
28:37And I was impressed with him there,
28:39but I'm very impressed with what he's done
28:41since he's been here, the improvements that he has made
28:43and the adaptation that he has made
28:45to become a big star
28:47in this invasion.
28:49It's quite remarkable.
28:51So my hat's off to both those guys.
28:53Wow, some interesting stuff.
28:55You've covered all kinds of ground.
28:57You know, we have a lot of emails that we've been getting,
28:59and while The Rock was out, his movie The Mummy Returns
29:01was out, and fans want to know,
29:03do you have your set site on Hollywood?
29:05My set site?
29:07My sites are set on Hollywood.
29:09My sites are set in a set site.
29:11She's so excited standing next to you.
29:13She's getting all jittery.
29:15I noticed it when I walk in.
29:17You saw the ones over there.
29:19It happens.
29:21You know what I mean?
29:23You wouldn't know.
29:25Anyway, do I have my site set on Hollywood?
29:27You know what I mean?
29:29If Hollywood comes to my door pounding on it
29:31and says, hey, we need you to do this movie
29:33and here's a dump truck full of cash,
29:35I guess I would have to think about it.
29:37But to be honest, right now,
29:39my heart and my soul are in the World Wrestling Federation
29:41and in this industry.
29:43There's nothing that I want to do.
29:45You know what I mean?
29:47You got to understand what it's like
29:49to sit out for that many months
29:51and to not get
29:53the mainline attraction
29:55that you get from being
29:57a WWF superstar, from going out
29:59in an arena with 20, 30, 40,
30:0150, 60,000 people.
30:03There's no feeling like it in the world.
30:05My music played for me to come out here.
30:07I got goosebumps all over me
30:09and just that little shot of adrenaline.
30:11You know what I mean?
30:13To get it one more time.
30:15I'm dying to get back in the ring
30:17and that's my main focus right now.
30:19That's all I'm thinking about.
30:21Well, you know, Triple H, you're a guy
30:23that appreciates a little comedy.
30:25Well, after Booker T's SummerSlam on Raw,
30:27he won a little more piece of Booker T.
30:29So we have a small clip from Raw with The Rock.
30:31The Rock, not pleased.
30:33Booker T and the Alliance coming up
30:35with a big win over the...
30:37Hey, let's just go to the phone lines.
30:39And he's got a question for Triple H.
30:41Peter?
30:43Hey, how you doing?
30:45Triple H, you are the man
30:47and we would love to have you come
30:49to Southern California and Hollywood
30:51and make a movie.
30:53And the question is to you,
30:55since The Rock is like 100% at his game
30:57and he's the champ
30:59and Steve Austin is top of his game
31:01and he's the champ,
31:03how do you fit all into all this
31:05comeback from the injury?
31:07You know, that's why I'm doing what I'm doing.
31:09That's why I'm in rehab, you know,
31:118 to 10 hours a day every single day
31:13because when I do come back,
31:15I will be 100%.
31:17That leg might be a bullseye,
31:19but they can go after it all they want
31:21because when I do come back,
31:23it's gonna be 100% or I won't get back in the ring.
31:25You know what I mean?
31:27I will be not only as good as I was before,
31:29I will be better.
31:31I will be hungrier, I will be better,
31:33I will be stronger, I will be faster.
31:35They can go after whatever they want,
31:37but the end result is still gonna be the same.
31:39I'm gonna come out on top.
31:41I wanna switch gears just for a second,
31:43but all the questions so far,
31:45everybody at home is calling in,
31:47great questions, great emails,
31:49thousands of emails are coming in,
31:51so keep them coming, we appreciate them,
31:53and of course we're gonna be here live
31:55each and every Saturday night,
31:57but let's switch gears now, Triple H,
31:59talk about Tough Enough,
32:01a hit series over on MTV,
32:03and it's called Truth.
32:05I went on that show and I told them the truth.
32:07I told them what they didn't wanna hear.
32:09I told them the backside of this business
32:11that nobody wants to hear about,
32:13that you're on the road 200 days a year,
32:15that you get hurt and you keep going,
32:17that you don't get to see your wife,
32:19you don't get to see your kids as much as you want to.
32:21It's a rough business,
32:23and to be honest,
32:25I was one of the first guests
32:27on that show,
32:29and I think if I'd have seen those kids
32:31in that nice house sitting in a hot tub
32:33and going to the Bahamas,
32:35that promo I caught on them would have been a hell of a lot worse.
32:37I'd have made them all quit.
32:39Because the thing to me is this,
32:41they don't even understand what they were getting.
32:43They were getting the world handed to them.
32:45All they had to do was get in the ring
32:47and be Tough Enough,
32:49which is the name of the show,
32:51but everything else was being handed to them.
32:53If they couldn't see that
32:55in front of them,
32:57there are people out there dying to be in this business
32:59going through a thousand times
33:01worse stuff than what they're going through
33:03to try to make it.
33:05If I made some people leave
33:07because I told them the truth, then so be it.
33:09They weren't ready to be in this business.
33:11I think that's one of the qualities.
33:13As a leader, in and out of the ring,
33:15you shoot from the hip.
33:17It's great that you made them aware of that commitment.
33:19We have an email and they want to know,
33:21knowing that commitment that one has to make in this business,
33:23when did you know this is the commitment I'm willing to make
33:25and you wanted to be in this business?
33:27Early.
33:29I can remember watching wrestling
33:31really young when I was a kid.
33:33Growing up, that's what I did.
33:35I went to wrestling with my dad.
33:37I was a big fan.
33:39That's what we did together.
33:41We went to wrestling matches and I couldn't get enough of it.
33:43I'd get up on Saturday mornings
33:45and from 7am to 3pm
33:47I'd sit on the couch in my underwear
33:49eating cereal all day
33:51until I got a sugar rush watching wrestling.
33:53That's a good picture.
33:55Sometimes I still do it.
33:57My underwear is thinner now.
33:59It's pretty much right on.
34:01I was hooked with the wrestling business
34:03and that's what I wanted to do.
34:05I wouldn't take no for an answer
34:07which is what I try to express
34:09to the Tough Enough kids.
34:11If you want this, don't let anybody tell you
34:13you can't do it.
34:15Do it, no matter what.
34:17You get thrown off the show, go somewhere else.
34:19Do it.
34:21We're going to have two winners.
34:23Let's take it back to this past Thursday night
34:25the number one show on MTV
34:27and take a look at what happened
34:29on this week's episode of Tough Enough.
34:39Unforgiven, live at the Mellon Arena
34:41in Pittsburgh, September 23rd.
34:43Brought to you by Clearasil Active Defense Cleanser.
34:45Clearasil, clearly looking better.
34:47Welcome back everybody.
34:49We're live right here on AXS
34:51each and every Saturday night.
34:53Our guest tonight is the one and only Triple H.
34:55Each week on AXS, we're going to show a classic match
34:57and we're going to call it
34:59from the vault.
35:01You can email us your choices
35:03for a classic match each and every week
35:05and we'll show it live right here on AXS.
35:07This week, why don't we give that honor
35:09to our special guest, Triple H.
35:11What match do you want to see?
35:13Let me see.
35:16It's got to have a great athlete in it
35:18so it better be mine.
35:20I'll tell you what, here's what we'll do.
35:22We'll go to a historic match.
35:24First SmackDown ever.
35:26The Game vs. The Rock.
35:28I'm the World Wrestling Federation Champion
35:30Special Referee.
35:32My personal friend, HBK Shawn Michaels
35:34former World Wrestling Federation Champion
35:36Special Referee.
35:38That's a great idea.
35:40We're going to send our special assistant
35:42to the library.
35:44You were in phenomenal shape.
35:46My question to you is this.
35:48Do you ever think you can get in that kind of shape again?
35:50You know, Coach.
35:52I'll tell you what.
35:54I'll just show you.
35:56Easy, easy.
35:58Easy.
36:06If I'm in this kind of shape now
36:08what do you think it's going to be like
36:10when I come back?
36:12You're in phenomenal shape.
36:14And you just got Trish wet.
36:16Hey, and this is the thing.
36:18Since I'm taking my shirt off
36:20everybody should take their shirt off.
36:22Coach, Trish.
36:24Is this a live show?
36:26We've got to go to a break.
36:28We've got to go to a break.
36:30Let the boobies hit the floor.
36:32I didn't hear that version.
36:34We want to thank Triple H for coming.
36:36We appreciate it.
36:38Good luck on your physical therapy buddy.
36:42Very pleased to have him.
36:44Hopefully we'll see him back in the ring very soon.
