00:01Sudan's capital Khartoum and the surrounding state still without electricity on Thursday evening.
00:08The area was hit by an unprecedented barrage of drone strikes overnight Wednesday,
00:14knocking out the power supply.
00:17The attack comes just weeks after the army celebrated the recapture of the city.
00:22Experts say the paramilitary rapid support forces appears to have opened up a new phase in Sudan's civil war,
00:28which has entered its third year.
00:31It switched tactics from ground assaults to long-distance drone attacks on power stations dams
00:38and other infrastructure in army-held territory.
00:41On Wednesday, the RSF attacked three power stations in the city of Omdurman across the Nile from Khartoum.
00:48But it's also repeatedly hit the wartime capital of Port Sudan,
00:52which up until now has been seen as a safe haven for government officials,
00:55diplomats and humanitarian organizations.
00:59The wars devastated Sudan, pushing more than 13 million people out of their homes
01:05and spreading famine and disease.
01:08Tens of thousands of Sudanese have died in the fighting.
