UGC: heavy smoke, loud explosions and fires in Khartoum, Sudan

UGC footage published on September 17, 2023 show the Greater Nile Petroleum Operating Company Tower in Khartoum on fire and black smoke rising from a building near the city's court of justice, as gunshots and explosions are heard in the Sudanese capital.   Battles between the regular army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces intensified Saturday, resulting in several key buildings in central Khartoum being set alight. Since war erupted on April 15, nearly 7,500 people have been killed, according to a conservative estimate from the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project.
