Defiant Starmer swipes that critics of his 'island of strangers' immigration crackdown are 'talking rubbish'
Transcript
00:00The Prime Minister once spoke of compassion and dignity for migrants and for defending
00:09free movement. Now he talks of islands of strangers and taking back control. Somebody
00:17here has to call this out. It seems the only principle he consistently defends is whichever
00:23he last heard in a focus group. So I ask him, is there any belief he holds which survives
00:30a week in Downing Street?
00:32The Prime Minister
00:34Yes, the belief that she talks rubbish.
00:40Mr Speaker, I want to lead a country where we pull together and walk into the future
00:56as neighbours and as communities, not as strangers. The loss of control of migration by the last
01:03government put all of that at risk. That is why we are fixing the system based on principles
01:09of control, selection and fairness.
