Man arrested for impersonating IAF officer in stolen uniform

Sukhpreet Singh, a resident of Zirakpur’s Aashiana Complex, was arrested on May 12, 2025, for stealing an Indian Air Force uniform and impersonating IAF personnel in public.

00:13who was detained by Air Force police from Chandigarh's 12th wing and handed over to

00:17Ziragpur police for further investigation on 12 May 2025.

00:30An Air Force employee living near Ziragpur village spotted the suspected uniform and alerted

00:34the authorities. According to police officials, a local tailor from a nearby village who stitches

00:39Army and Air Force uniforms had couriered an IAF uniform to someone. These youths allegedly

00:45stole the couriered uniform and began wearing it in public.

01:00Wearing a military uniform without being a member of the armed forces is illegal in India.

01:08The punishment for such an offence can include imprisonment up to three months, a fine of

01:12up to Rs 2,000 or both, according to Section 168 of the Indian Army Act.
