00:15welcome for a Malaysian leader in nearly two decades. The last was for the late Tun Abdullah
00:21Ahmad Badawi in 2007. The official visit, taking place from May 13 to 16, is at the
00:28invitation of President Vladimir Putin, with key engagements scheduled in Moscow and Kazan,
00:35the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan. The visit began Tuesday night with a gathering
00:40of Malaysians residing in Russia. Other key highlights are a roundtable with Russian industry leaders,
00:46bilateral meetings with Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, and an anticipated meeting with
00:52Putin. On Thursday, Anwar is set to deliver a public
00:56lecture at the prestigious Moscow State Institute of International Relations. He will also receive
01:02an honorary doctorate in recognition of his contributions to global peace and international
01:07cooperation. In Kazan, the Prime Minister will meet with the head of the Republic of Tatarstan,
01:14Rustam Minikanov, and deliver a keynote address at the Russia-Islamic World Strategic Vision
01:20Group meeting. As of 2024, Russia remains Malaysia's ninth-largest trading partner in Europe, with bilateral
01:28international trade valued at 11.46 billion ringgit.
