Carnation Prices Up in Taiwan Prior to Mother's Day

The price of carnations has been blooming in Taiwan prior to Mother's Day due to low supply.

00:10Here in Taiwan, most carnations are grown in the central county of Changhua.

00:15However, this year, many of the blooms may not be ready in time for the special day,

00:21because of unusually cold weather earlier this year.

00:30The late bloom is being reflected in carnation prices,

00:41with one variety costing 30% more than in previous years.

00:46Despite the higher cost, customers say they are still willing to buy.

00:51With the lower supply, Flores say there is a chance

01:03that prices may continue to rise further before Mother's Day on Sunday.
