00:44Yeah, I'm really, really loving it, having the best time.
00:47He's four and a half months now. I think he's drooling on your drugs.
00:49I don't mind baby drool.
00:51And yeah, we're having such a wonderful time.
00:54He was born just before Christmas, so we had Christmas at home with him, which was really, really lovely.
00:59He's not a bad sleeper, are you, darling?
01:01Yeah.
01:02And he's got lots of doting grandparents.
01:05So, yeah, we're all loving it.
01:06And I was wondering, actually, before you came in today, sort of as a political editor, you talk all the time about all the big issues on this show, don't you?
01:13On this channel, NHS and education and crime and maternity services.
01:19Are you seeing things a little differently now that you're a mom?
01:22Absolutely.
01:23I mean, particularly crime.
01:24The area we live in in London is sort of fun, up and coming part of London.
01:29I won't name it.
01:30I don't want to offend people who live there too.
01:31But I have really, really noticed just how dangerous it can be in some ways.
01:38And, you know, the things that I turned a blind eye to before when walking down the street, the kind of stolen line bikes, the low-level crime everywhere, the bacon in locked plastic boxes in Tesco because there's so much shoplifting.
01:50I've really noticed that so much more.
01:52And it makes me sort of rethink where we want to live, where we want to sort of settle down in the future.
01:59As for the NHS, I mean, I'd very luckily never really been exposed to the NHS at all in my life before he was born.
02:06And now suddenly I realise, you know, obviously just how important it is.
02:10We talk about these long waiting lists for GPs, et cetera.
02:13And I was thinking about it in my job and in a very theoretical sense.
02:17And now I really feel it.
02:19Well, what happens if he does get ill?
02:20And I have to wait weeks and weeks to see my GP.
02:24So far, I have to say, Lewisham Hospital was fantastic.
02:27Our local GP has been very good.
02:30But I know that that's not the case around the country.
02:32And I do feel it so much more, I think, as a parent.
02:34I think at some point soon, I guess, if you're school.
02:37Schools, I know.
02:39And I've been walking past, there's a school right at the end of my road.
02:42Walked past it so many times, never thought anything about it.
02:45Now I'm Googling all the Ofsted reports.
02:47And, yeah, I mean, it's very keen for him to go to one of those academies, which seem to be so good.
02:54I wonder what's going to happen with those.
02:56But, yeah, I've got my eye on the ball so much more.

03:14I was totally oblivious and then tuned into the local elections and it got a bit more exciting.
03:18But, yeah, this weekend when I was sort of reading the news for the first time genuinely in about four months,
03:23I did start to get quite excited about coming back and seeing you all again and using my brain for something other than nap times and nappies.
03:32If you're used to a sort of very intellectually stimulating job and you have to be on your A game, it can be quite different being at home with a little baby.
