Putin Says Russia Has 'Strength and Resources' To Finish Ukraine War

Russia has warned Ukraine against striking Moscow over its Victory Day celebrations commemorating the end of World War II. It comes as Kyiv rejects a three-day ceasefire announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin to mark the occasion.

00:18It comes just days before a three-day ceasefire announced by Moscow,

00:22coinciding with the country's World War II Victory Day celebrations.

00:26But the recent strike has left Ukrainian residents doubting any chance for peace.

00:32Pretending that they are ready for talks is one thing.

00:36But nevertheless, they keep delivering strikes and the work continues.

00:40Boys are dying every day. The talks did not bring anything good so far.

00:45Look at the results of the talks. People are suffering. Houses and cars sustain damage.

00:52Their doubts echoed by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky,

00:56who has dismissed the upcoming 72-hour truce as unserious.

01:00The leader said Ukraine could not guarantee the safety of foreign dignitaries

01:04who came to Moscow for the country's Victory Day celebrations.

01:07Among them, Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is set to arrive in Russia on Wednesday.

01:12Zelensky is instead pushing for a 30-day truce, a proposal put forward by the U.S.

01:18Speaking in the Czech Republic, Zelensky urged Kyiv's allies to apply greater pressure on Moscow to put the measure in place.

01:25We believe that the ceasefire is possible absolutely at any moment, even from today,

01:33and it must last about 30 days to give a real chance to diplomaties.

01:38And I thank you for the support of all our proposals.

01:43Russia has so far rejected the proposal.

01:46U.S. President Donald Trump, who has been attempting to broker a deal between Ukraine and Russia in past months,

01:51has signalled frustration at the failure of both countries to reach terms to end the war.

01:56The Kremlin is calling Kyiv's refusal to accept the three-day ceasefire,

01:59a threat to the security of its World War II commemorations.

02:02Top security official Dmitry Medvedev warning,

02:05quote, nobody could guarantee Kyiv would survive to see May 10, if Moscow was attacked during the celebrations.

02:12Or Russian President Vladimir Putin says he has the power to finish the war on Russia's terms,

02:17without resorting to nuclear weapons.

02:20We wanted to achieve that, that we made mistakes.

02:24Well, there was no need to use the weapon,

02:29about which we are now saying.

02:31And I hope that it is not needed.

02:34We have enough resources to bring the beginning of 1922 to a logical conclusion,

02:46with the need for Russia.

02:47Another stark warning against any action from Ukraine,

02:51as Russia prepares to mark its greatest military victory,

02:54and for international leaders to step onto its home soil.
