00:00Nigel, good morning. A long night, a very, very disappointing night for the
00:05Conservatives and obviously many, many results still left to come. Yes, I mean
00:12it has been a long night and we were bracing ourselves for a challenging
00:15night because of course many of the results that will be coming in today
00:18are based off the cycle of 2021 where we had an unprecedented victory. We got
00:2466% I think of all seats up. We were winning seats. We won the Hartlepool
00:29by-election on the same day so four years later in a very different
00:32circumstance having lost two-thirds of our MPs at last year's general
00:36election of course we were bracing ourselves for a very difficult night
00:39but we have been putting up a fight and the results are still coming in. This
00:44Greater Lincolnshire result, I mean 64,585, I mean not, you know, almost down to
00:53half of what Dame Andrea Jenkins has just taken to win that and that's
00:58something you presumably thought you could win. Well, I think reform have
01:06been forecast for quite a while to win Lincolnshire. We had an excellent
01:10candidate in Rob Waltham and I was there campaigning with him very
01:14recently. But reform through the kitchen sink and it is fertile ground
01:19in Lincolnshire. I am actually from Lincolnshire originally myself and I know
01:22in particular immigration is a major issue in Lincolnshire and reform based the
01:28campaign in Lincolnshire largely on the national issues. Now strategically that
01:32worked for them. But I think what Andrea Jenkins can do as mayor on some of the
01:38issues she has been campaigning on will prove to be quite a challenge for her.
01:41You know, these elections are about council elections, about what the council can do and the
01:46mayoral elections, about what the mayor can do. And it's really important that we
01:51focus on the remit that's appropriate. But understandably, people voted for a whole
01:55host of other reasons. I completely get that. And I say, believe me, we are still
02:00learning the lessons of last year's election. We will take this beating with
02:04humility as we did last year's election because we do need to show the public that
02:08we understand and we are still in the process of renewal. We are under new
02:11leadership, but we've got a long way to go.
