“Reservation should be based on Population percent” DMK leader TKS Elangovan on Caste census

Chennai, April 30, 2025 (ANI): On the Cate Census to be included in the national census, DMK leader TKS Elangovan said that caste census inclusion in National census 2026 is significant because 90% of Hindus are from OBCs, SCs, STs.He stated, "...That (Caste Census) should be there because 90% of the Hindus are from the OBCs, SCs and STs. Only 10% of the Hindus are upper caste. But whether this will do any good to the Backward classes or Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes is the question...I myself had spoken in the Parliament that there should be reservations based on the population percentage of each class, OBCs, SCs, STs and Generals. But they will not do it...They (BJP) are more concerned about the economically weaker sections in upper castes. The reservation should not be based on economy, that is what the constitution says, but they have 10% EWS..."
