00:00Many have asked me, Han Yen, why are you doing this, especially because you have three young
00:10children at home? And my answer back is simple. It is precisely because of them. If I have
00:18the privilege to shape a better future for my children, for our children, and our future
00:24generations, why wouldn't I? Like many of you, I wear multiple hats in life. I'm a mother,
00:33I'm a daughter, I'm a spouse, I'm a colleague. The people who once cared for me now need to
00:42be cared for. The little ones at home who look up to me need me to care for them too. Some
00:49days, I feel extremely lucky. Other days, I feel stretched in many directions and I feel
00:56like I'm not doing enough. And I know that I'm not the only one who feels that way. To
01:03all those who are juggling multiple responsibilities in life, we are here with you. A couple of
01:10ideals that I think will help Singapore navigate our future challenges. First, I believe we
01:19need to be a society that is built on kindness. Our families and caregivers should not be journeying
01:27alone. They deserve support. And we are starting efforts on this in Nisun already. Monthly pop-up
01:36playgrounds. We have, you know, a caregiver's resource centre. And we also are the health care
01:43hub of the north. We also recognise this. The PAP government has helped to increase caregiver's
01:50grants. It has expanded parental care, increased adoption of flexi work arrangements. Because
02:00when we feel supported, we can then focus on the future. So second, we need to be a society
02:09with hope. What is hope? Hope is a belief that our children will live a better life. A future
02:21where children can reach their full potential. A future where our young people can chase their
02:27dreams. And as a nation, how do we get hope right? We do so by creating jobs for all Singaporeans.
02:39Jobs that our students and young people are excited to fill. Jobs that tap on the wisdom and experience
02:45of our older workers. And if we get hope right as a country, tomorrow will be better than today.
02:55And finally, I believe we need to be a nation of strength. Strength to face domestic challenges.
03:05Strength to face international threats. My generation was raised with decades of peace and progress.
03:13We grew up through times of order and stability. This was a gift of our past generations.
03:22They fought hard, they worked hard, and they did the best we can. We went from third world to first
03:28in a single generation. A changed world, a new team with fresh resolve to secure a better future for you.
03:43And these last people of America were just a very frequently. So, what a good pick.
03:48We came to be a thing for these folks in America. Our most reasonable and Giant giants for any fact that their
04:04life will continue!
04:04And to be a possible way to nominee, start the festival and to stop at 30 days.
