MP raises concerns over closure of Post Office outreach service that served Minsterley, Hope and Shawbury

An MP has raised concerns over the abrupt closure of a rural Post Office outreach service that served three Shropshire villages.  The Post Office outreach service that served Minsterley, Hope and Shawbury ceased operations on February 17 due to "unforeseen circumstances".

00:03Minstilly Village has recently seen its rural outreach post office service withdrawn with just two days' notice.

00:10The unplanned closure affects three villages and was given no explanation nor consultation

00:14with residents, postmaster, council or the three members of Parliament

00:18in clear breach of the principles of engagement set out by the government.

00:22Can the Leader please raise with the Minister for Business and Trade

00:24the serious concerns of my residents and ensure the post office is fulfilling its obligations

00:29to roll up communities like mine?

00:31Well, look, post office closures are a really serious matter for this House

00:35and I would implore her, as she is doing today, that as the local MP

00:38she stands up for the post office services in her constituency

00:42and campaigns for them to remain open.

00:45I will absolutely ensure that she gets a ministerial reply about what's happening.
