Sunderland residents left angry and fearful after community park set on fire "at least 10 times in 4 weeks"

Local residents say South Hylton 'Pocket' Park has been targeted by youths setting fire to the park.

00:00I am here at South Hilton Pocket Park to meet residents about their concerns over fires being started at the park.

00:07They say there has been around 10 fires in the last four weeks.

00:11As well as being concerned for their own safety and the impact it's having on families and local people,

00:16they are also concerned about the wildlife.

00:19This area here was fenced off as a nature reserve and was home to butterflies, newts, bird life and also frogs.

00:26As you can see it's been completely scorched by the fires.

00:29Another area which has been sat on fire backs onto people's houses and they are concerned that it could catch fire at their own fences,

00:37leading to fires in their gardens and even their homes.
