00:21gold prices is significant. I'm Manish Adhikari and you're watching First Things Fast.

00:26Ballarat is a quiet museum town. Here gold puts on a show. Molten, mesmerizing, almost

00:33magical. Back home in India, gold is putting on a very different kind of show. This April,

00:38it smashed through the 1 lakh mark for 10 grams in the retail market. A historic high.

00:43Gold prices in India soared to historic levels. Why are gold prices rising so much? Gold just

00:49smashed past Rs. 1 lakh for the first time ever.

00:52But this surge is not happening because the world is doing well. It's because it isn't.

01:00Gold does not rise on optimism. It rises on anxiety. When the world is unstable, when economies

01:06wobble, wars break out, currencies falter, gold becomes the adult in the room. Let's break

01:11it down. Gold is tangible, scarce, not tied to any one country or central bank. And unlike

01:17paper money, you can't print more of it when things go wrong. In 2025 alone, gold's up 30%.

01:22Why? Because markets are jittery about everything. The US-China trade war is back on. The US president

01:28is at odds with his own Federal Reserve. The dollar's weakening. Inflation's not dead. When uncertainty

01:34rises, people exit risk. Stocks, crypto bonds and run to safety. Gold becomes the bunker.

01:41That's why Kotak Mahindra Bank founder Uday Kotak just called Indian Housewives the smartest

01:45fund managers in the world. They've been buying gold for generations. Not for flash, but for

01:50safety. And now that intuition is paying off. This isn't just molten metal. It's fear hardened

01:56into value. A global vote of no confidence in everything else. Ballarat may be a museum,

02:02but the gold rush never really ended. It just changed shape. From big access and bans, to
