Transcript
00:00Big news coming in. Trinamool Congress will skip the all-party meeting on the war, scheduled at 5pm.
00:06This was a moment where all parties were likely to be meeting, where the government could have briefed them about
00:12their strategy.
00:13And the all-party meeting is in the backdrop of the opposition stepping up attack against the current government.
00:18At 5pm today, when the meeting is set to convene, we are told that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will chair
00:24the meeting.
00:25Other senior leaders will also be present. Foreign Petroleum Secretaries will brief the party leaders.
00:30But TMC, Mamata Banerjee's party, is likely to not attend this specific all-party meeting.
00:37Remember, all-party meetings are done for a reason.
00:40To be able to ensure that the word is out, so the opposition knows government strategy.
00:45And this is what the opposition had been asking about. Why would then the TMC skip it?
00:48Piyush Mishra joins me for the latest on that.
00:50Piyush, tell me, what are you picking up about why TMC has decided to skip this meeting?
00:58Well, Pooja, this is absolutely certain that TMC has decided not to attend the all-party meeting.
01:03And we have also spoken to a few leaders of Atanamuluk Congress about the reason of not attending this all
01:09-party meeting.
01:10They are saying that when they are not being allowed to speak on the floor of the House, that there
01:14is no point of attending this all-party meeting.
01:17There is a statement also which has been issued by TMC MP Saharika Ghosh, which she goes on to say
01:23that the statement which was released by Piyush Marendra Modi in both the offices of Parliament is a scripted one.
01:29The questions are there on LPG crisis, on the problems that are being faced by people across the country.
01:35And these questions are not being allowed here to ask on the floor of the House.
01:40And that is one of the biggest reasons that TMC has decided not to attend this all-party meeting.
01:46TMC is also saying that we need a proper scrutiny of the situation.
01:52We need a proper answer from the government and that on the floor of the House.
01:55We want proper discussion on this entire matter in both the houses of the Parliament.
01:59And that is why the PMC has decided to not attend the all-party meeting.
02:05You would remember that yesterday itself, Piyush Marendra Modi had requested all political parties to come up with the theme
02:11of Team India.
02:12Because this is a time where we all need to join hands and we need to fight this crisis.
02:19But still we are seeing as to how the politics is taking place where TMC has now decided to skip
02:24the all-party meeting.
02:25They are saying that we want answers from the government on the floor of the House, not enough to hold
02:30room.
02:31Alright, Piyush, keep tracking the latest.
02:33In just the next half an hour, we'll know which parties are part of this meeting.
02:38And should the TMC be skipping at a point when the government intends to engage specifically with domestic concerns?
