03:45i had a uh a guy come up to me uh recently after a show and um and he was telling me

03:58what this song meant to him and how he translated it to his life

04:03which was very different from the reason that i wrote it in the first place

04:11and you know i told him songs take on all kind of different meanings

04:17for me even after i get done writing them this was one of those that was a prime example of that where

04:26i just kind of kept singing this melody and it felt like a good old-fashioned love song and then

04:33when i got out and i started playing it

04:35i started thinking about my old man and i lost him back in 2011

04:47he was larger than life

04:54he was he was incredible

04:55he truly was and uh

05:00and i started thinking about you know

05:03i'd be playing this and i think about all the fishing trips we took

05:09keith beach steen hatching

05:14and in particular there's one we took together right before he passed about

05:19about a month before he passed he was already really sick

05:26and i knew in that moment like while we were riding that boat we saw that sunset together and he

05:33was having a good time and it was like the first time he hadn't felt bad in like a year

05:39so i felt like that was a whole divine intervention somebody kind of giving us a last

05:46time together that's the beauty in songs and music

05:54they can be cathartic you know healing and that's what this song was for me when i got out and started
