00:00The government has firmly stated that it does not need China's permission to conduct activities within the West Philippine Sea.
00:07According to the National Task Force West Philippine Sea,
00:11China's claim that the Philippines sought approval for last month's rotation and resupply mission to the BRP Sierra Madre is false.
00:19The task force stressed that a Yungin Shoal is part of the country's exclusive economic zone and continental shelf,
00:26an area reinforced by the 2016 Arbitral Award.
00:30As such, the Philippines has sovereign rights and jurisdiction over the Shoal,
00:35and all rural missions are consistent with international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea or UNCLOS.
00:43The government also rejected China's assertions of authority over a Yungin Shoal,
00:48calling them nothing more than disinformation.
