Tobi and BMitch believe the Capitals and Commanders resurgence could give the Nationals the drive to be better.

00:00A couple of Nationals pitchers were hanging out right there on the glass

00:02behind the Nets.

00:03Jake Irvin and Mackenzie Gore were at the game last night taking it in.

00:07I'm going to go over to Nats Park a little later,

00:08maybe ask them about their experience.

00:10But, yeah, it seemed like a great crowd, a good win for the Capitals.

00:13I really like seeing that, too, like all the other sports getting into it.

00:19You know, that makes a world of difference.

00:21You get the people in the town supporting each other.

00:24It's good stuff.

00:24What was it like during your time playing here?

00:26I mean, we went to a lot of the basketball games.

00:29It wasn't all the baseball, and hockey wasn't that good back then.

00:32But we went to the basketball games a lot,

00:34and everybody showed up at the football game early on because we were winning.

00:38You know, now it's flipped.

00:40The team that wins all the time, or the Cap.

00:43But it's kind of cool to see when you have those relationships,

00:46like that 18-19 run where the Capitals won and the Nationals were always there.

00:50And then the Nationals won and the Capitals were always there.

00:53It was cool to see that relationship.

00:54And for the longest time, with the previous ownership of the Commanders,

00:58nobody wanted to deal with him.

00:59No one wanted to be around.

01:00They went for the players and the team, but they didn't want to go for him.

01:04And now that has changed, right?

01:06They're embracing everybody.

01:07The Wizards, obviously, embracing because of the same ownership as the Capitals.

01:11So seeing all the teams back together again, it's nice to see.

01:14But what it does, more than anything, one team wins.

01:18All athletes are truly competitive.

01:20They're like, oh, we got to get one now.

01:22They don't just sit back and want to enjoy you doing it.

01:24They want to be able to do it, too.

01:25That's what I think is interesting.

01:26There's a new series out on Netflix.

01:28If you haven't checked it out, it's about the Red Sox.

01:30They followed them last year.

01:32And there's a clip when the Celtics showed up to a Red Sox game with the championship trophy

01:38and the guys walking through the clubhouse before the game and saying what's up to Jason

01:41Tatum and whatnot.

01:42And I can't remember who it was, but one reliever was talking to Joe Mazzula, head coach of the

01:48Celtics.

01:48And they were just chit-chatting.

01:50And he's like, seeing you all do that makes us want to get one.

01:52Hell yeah.

01:53How much does that push?

01:54When you have success with one team.

01:56Listen, man.

01:56If I see someone getting the love from the city, I want to see the love from the city.

02:02You know what I'm saying?

02:02I don't want to sit there and just be a fan.

02:05If you are a person getting paid to do a sport, you see somebody else getting all that love,

02:10you want to experience that.

02:11And you don't experience it by just showing up to the game and watching them.

02:14You go and work a little harder.

02:16You start doing things you weren't doing before.

02:18You know?

02:18Ask them questions.

02:19Hey, man, what did it take?

02:20You know, was it the team or did every individual comes back a little stronger, a little better?

02:26Yeah.

02:26All of a sudden, the team is a lot stronger, a lot better.

02:28And if you can get your team to do the same thing, then maybe you get that opportunity.

02:32Well, I bet you for guys like Jake Irvin and Mackenzie Gore, who haven't been here when

02:36the Nationals were good, right?

02:38They came over after 2019.

02:39They've been here after.

02:41It probably was, I wouldn't say eye-opening because they've seen the stadium pack before,

02:45but maybe not all Nats fans.

02:46Like, when the opening series was here, it was the Phillies.

02:49You see, you had a lot of Phillies fans mixed in there.

02:51It was still an electric environment, but not the same as all 18, whatever, 20,000 people

02:56were in captures and was cheering for the same team.

02:58I bet you that does motivate them.

03:00Like, I want to see Nats park like this.

03:01I think, was it Jaden that said, like, you know, he wanted to get Northwest just like

03:08that because he saw some game, I think, last year.

03:10Uh-huh.

03:10And it was packed.

03:11He wanted to see the same thing.

03:13It creeps in.

03:14Yeah.

03:15It creeps in, man.

03:16And if you could get, can you imagine getting Northwest one day, just all Burgundy and go,

03:20we'll see all the other teams.

03:23It's always.

03:23They could be on the outside trying to get in, but the hell with them being inside.

03:27It'd be nice.

03:28Yeah.

03:28It'd be nice to have it back to that because I never got to experience vintage RFK.
