MOFA Confirms Taiwan Part of 'First Wave' of U.S. Tariff Negotiations

Taiwan's foreign minister Lin Chia-lung has told lawmakers that Taiwan is in the "first wave" of countries to negotiate new U.S. tariffs. The comments come after the U.S.' commerce secretary failed to name Taiwan in a list of countries with which tariff talks are in the works.

00:18Lawmakers grilled Lin Jialong after U.S. Commerce Secretary Scott Besant recently left Taiwan out when commenting on countries that have priority in initial negotiations.

00:27Washington has paused a 32 percent tariff on most Taiwanese products for 90 days.

00:34But U.S. President Donald Trump says tariffs targeting semiconductors and electronics are in the works.
