00:08before noon on Saturday. The closed-door negotiations mediated by Oman are led by

00:14Steve Witkoff, the Mid-East envoy of U.S. President Donald Trump, and Iranian Foreign

00:19Minister Abbas Arachi. The talks represent a historic moment, giving the tense relationship

00:25between the two countries. The Iran nuclear agreement had been a landmark deal reach between

00:30Iran and five permanent members of the UN Security Council in 2015. However, in 2018, Donald Trump

00:38withdrew the United States from the deal during his first term. Despite former U.S. President Joe

00:44Biden's efforts to restore the deal, the two countries have been so far unsuccessful in reaching

00:50a compromise.
