Nissan Aims To Max Out U.S. Output At Tennessee Plant To Offset Tariffs

Nissan said the automaker is aiming to “max out” production at its Tennessee plant in response to Trump’s 25% auto tariffs. The automaker's Americas chairman, Christian Meunier, told CNBC the tariffs are accelerating Nissan’s ongoing shift toward domestic production, as the company seeks to reverse declining U.S. performance. The Smyrna facility produced over 300,000 vehicles last year on two shifts and has a capacity for 600,000 annually. Meunier said his goal is to fully utilize Nissan’s Smyrna plant and restore its profitability, but noted that reaching maximum output will take time.
