00:00Hi, in this video we are going to focus on how to utilize the search

00:06functionality within Salesforce. So before we get started just a quick

00:13rundown on what it does and how useful this functionality can be in Salesforce.

00:20So the search functionality operates very similar to sort of like a Google on

00:26a web page and it truly is extremely valuable in the sense that it can

00:33aggregate and find any record within your system just by entering some key

00:40letters or even typing out the word of what you're trying to search. So let's

00:46see how that works in practice within the system. So whenever you come login

00:52first from the home screen or if you are in any page the search bar at the top

00:57remains constant and in order to search for any records within the system we are

01:03going to be using the search bar top center always. So if I click into it and

01:10type MCD even from McDonald's you'll see that automatically the system is

01:18prompting some records and it's already starting to find records which

01:23potentially match what you're trying to look for. Now keep in mind that when you

01:29are using any of these drop downs that appear while you're searching you are not

01:35getting the full list of search results. So Salesforce only displays the top five

01:43results that match whatever you are searching and then displace them. So in

01:49order to get a deeper look we are going to have to press enter and then we can see a

01:56more detailed list of all of the items that match your search criteria. So as soon as we

02:05click enter we can see we are navigated to this screen where Salesforce

02:09automatically breaks down accounts, opportunities, contacts, basically anywhere

02:16in the system where we have found a match for whatever you are looking for. Again

02:23within each of these sections you are going to see only five so don't think this

02:28is the exhaustive list. If we want to see more you can see that there are five plus

02:34results which are here but it's only displaying five so if I want to take a

02:39deeper look at all the accounts which match this criteria I can click view more on the

02:45right of the accounts and then I will get the full list of any accounts matching

02:51whatever we are trying to look for.

02:55The same goes with contacts and opportunities again if I click enter I can see there are

03:03five plus results for opportunities as well as contacts I'm going to show you one

03:07more time the view more button if there are five plus results will bring you to a

03:13more exhaustive list of all the opportunities which match your criteria.

03:19going back to the home page let's say you want to sort of filter the search based on

03:28only accounts so I can also do that even before clicking enter and going into that

03:33detail search screen so if you notice the drop-down beside the search bar and

03:40click on it I can refine the list from here very easily as well so let's say I want to

03:47only search through my accounts and then Salesforce will automatically only show

03:53you account results which match whatever criteria you are defining so that's pretty

04:02much it for search and how you can use it again it's super powerful you don't have

04:08to go in looking for records and it is quite useful in terms of how easily

04:16accessible it makes records so thank you for this.
